Sex & Nudity

  • Two characters make out at the lagoon momentarily, the man moves his hand up the lover's skirt but then stops.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is beaten during an interrogation; brief blood on his lip.
  • A knife is drawn on one character, but he walks away without any injuries.
  • The Sleepy Lagoon fight is reenacted; one of the Downey boys smashes out the rear windshield and side window of Henry's car before he jumps in and fights the gang. We don't see all of this aside from some struggling and beating, then we see Henry with a slightly bloody nose.
  • The other fight is in snippets, but it is described in detail by the suspect. El Pachuco is seen hitting someone with a stick, but we don't see anything apart from the whipping. There's no blood.

Profanity

  • The F-word is used once with other mild profanities used throughout as well -- shit, hell, ass, damn, crap, queers and bastard. Other swears are said in Spanish.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Smoking and drinking in keeping with the film's period.
  • Some marijuana references; a musical number is entitled "Marijuana Boogie"

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Very little, nothing too frightening for young children other than the subject matter.
