Thriller filled with violence , emotion , intrigue , turns and profanities . It stars Pepe Carvalho/Patxi Andion , the fictional private detective and protagonist of a series of novels written by Manuel Vázquez Montalbán . When the committee of the communist party takes place , there occurs the killing of the president , Santiago Carrillo (though he isn't named) . It pretends to be the perfect murder , but then Carvalho (Patxi Andion) is assigned by Santos (Conrado San Martín) to resolve the strange case (Carvalho was a communist in his youth, but also a CIA agent) . Carvalho is accompanied in his investigations by a young communist militant called Carmela (Victoria Abril) and there are several suspects . Meanwhile , it is described the self-destructive process of the Communist Party during the early period of the transition .

110 minutes of Spanish mystery thriller starred by a good main cast as Patxi Andión , Victoria Abril and fine support cast such as Conrado San Martin , José Vivó , Francisco Vidal , Hector Alterio , José Cerro , Juan José Otegui , Antonio Vico , Jack Taylor and the TV presenter Rosa Maria Mateo . Exciting flick with plenty of suspense , violence , sexual scenes , intrigue , crude language , delusions and plot twists . Despite being somewhat of a cinematic cliché , rarely has a feature been so aptly deserving of its description as a thriller film along with some elements from Noir cinema . It is a decent picture in which suspense is well developed from start to finish , though crammed with some erotic scenes and nudism . Interesting as well as twisted screenplay from the same director , he adapted the script based on a novel with same title written by Manuel Vázquez Montalbán who created the famous Spanish detective . Carvalho has a rich , complex and contradictory personality well shown on the film . The gastronomic passion of Carvalho is really reflected , it includes passionate culinary descriptions of the most diverse dishes . Though Carvalho is a man of vast culture , a shocking feature of his personality is his frequent use of books from his extensive library as firewood . Though he is of Galician origin, Barcelona is his city . Although Carvalho is a great traveller and many of his adventures take place in other locations , the importance of the character has given the Catalan capital that mythical literary city air that Carvalho so much loves in other cities . Writer Montalbán uses his adventures to describe , and in many instances criticize , the political and cultural situation of Spanish society during the last half of the 20th century ; for example , the fall of Felipism in the nineties is the background of El Premio (The Prize) ; and the changes which took place in Barcelona on the occasion of the Olympic Games in 1992 feature in Sabotaje Olímpico (An Olympic Death). The Carvalho saga came to an end with the posthumous publication of Milenio Carvalho (Carvalho Millennium) , in which the detective, accompanied by his inseparable partner Biscuter , imposes on himself one last adventure in the form of a world-trip that ends up being a bitter and melancholic glance at the sociopolitical situation in the world and the passing of time.

This character has been adapted a great deal of times to cinema , such as: Tatuaje or tattoo(1976), by Bigas Luna , starred by Carlos Ballesteros . El Laberinto Griego or The Greek labyrinth (1990), by Rafael Alcázar, stars Omero Antonutti (in a character who changed the name Carvalho for Bardón). Los Mares Del Sur or The Southern Seas(1991), by Manuel Esteban, con Juan Luis Galiardo in the role as Carvalho . Olímpicamente Mort (1994) with Constantino Romero and narrated by the same writer Montalbán . And TV series starred by Eusebio Poncela with Ovidi Montlor as Biscuter , other Spanish/Argentina starred by Juan Diego that was cancelled after the first episode ; and finally, a ten-part Italian-Spanish co-production starred by Juanjo Puigcorbe and Carlos Lucena as Biscuter.

¨Asesinato En Comité Central¨ packs a colorful and appropriate cinematography by prestigious cameraman Jose Luis Alcaine who was first cinematographer to use fluorescent tube as "key" lightning and deemed to be one of the best Spanish cameramen . Alcaine frequently works with Pedro Almodóvar , Bigas Luna and Vicente Aranda , as he has photographed ¨The skin I live in¨ , ¨The bad education¨ , ¨Volver¨ , ¨Women in the verge of a nervous breakdown¨, among others . This suspenseful motion picture titled ¨Murder in the Central Committee International¨ was well produced by José Antonio Pérez Giner , being professionally directed by veteran filmmaker Vicente Aranda , though it failed at the Spanish box office . He directed a series of award-winning movies firmly establishing him as one of the best Spanish filmmakers . Vicente is an expert on literary adaptations , he has been working from the 60s with ¨Fata Morgana¨ , Las Crueles¨ and ¨Novia Ensangrentada¨ . His greatest successes were intense dramas with plenty of sex such as ¨Amantes¨, ¨Pasion Turca¨ , ¨Si Dicen Que Cai¨ , ¨Intruso¨ , ¨Tiempo De Silencio¨ , ¨Carmen¨ , and specially the historical story titled ¨Juana La Loca¨.
