Raise your glass to the Nine-Nine!
Whereas most shows would go all out for their 100th episode, Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Tuesday instead celebrated its 99th. The half-hour found the entire squad (minus Gina, who was still on maternity leave) taking a cross-country road trip home from Los Angeles and the funeral of former Co McGinley. While at the memorial service, Holt discovered that he was in the running to become the next police commissioner of the NYPD, yet he refused to get his hopes up — unlike Jake.

Sometimes the best of intentions don’t get you far, and Danny’s decision to help protect an ex-con and find the real killer ended with tragic results.
First off, I was thrilled to see Omar J. Dorsey guest starring as Ernie “Goodnight” Mason. I became a big fan of his after watching him as Hollywood on Queen Sugar this fall, and he didn’t disappoint here on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 12.
Ernie: You always said if there was ever anything you could do for me when I get out…
Danny: That's something I say a lot. That's not actually something I mean when I say it.

The Castle Season 7 finale on Monday night resolved some unfinished business from Rick’s past while introducing a huge new question about Kate’s future.

When a woman, Emma, is fatally hit by a truck after being chased through the woods, the crosses carved onto her face evoke for Rick a formative moment from his childhood — especially when a description of the masked figure in black who was after Emma exactly matches the killer an 11-year-old Castle had the displeasure of coming across more than 30 years ago. “It was real,” adult Rick realizes,...

NBC’s The Mysteries of Laura has added Boardwalk Empire alum Meg Steedle as a series regular, TVLine has confirmed.
Steedle will make her debut in Episode 15 as Francesca “Frankie” Pulaski, a young detective who scored so high on her detective exam that she was initially assigned to headquarters at One Police Plaza — a placement that proved to be underwhelming for her.
When she joins the 2nd Precinct, Frankie’s sunny demeanor and optimism initially gets her pegged as naive and impressionable, though Laura will discover that the noob is using that disposition to conceal a dark secret.

Peter Gallagher, why are you being so mean to Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson? Does One Police Plaza not have bagels with good schmears? C'mon, the artist formerly known as Sandy Cohen, cut her a break. In the exclusive sneak peek of Law & Order: Svu's "Pornstar's Requiem," Gallagher's Deputy Chief Dodds takes Benson to task about protocol and procedure. In the episode, a college freshman, who is also a porn star, accuses her classmates of rape. Detective Fin Tutuola (Ice-t) tries to come to Benson's defense, but Benson stands her ground like a good sergeant, leading Dodds to say this priceless line: "Don't preach sergeant, not with egg on your face." He's really...

Usually, it's the cops in the Reagan family who are in the line of fire. They weren't the only ones this time.
Prosecutor Erin (Bridget Moynahan) ended up imperiled in Friday's (Oct. 11) CBS episode of "Blue Bloods." Written by series co-executive producer Siobhan Byrne O'Connor, "To Protect and Serve" set the danger somewhere it wouldn't be expected -- a courtroom.
The hour began with Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria (Marisa Ramirez) investigating a broad-daylight murder, with the only witness the victim's young son Michael (a very natural, wrenching performance by Jake Miller, playing off a commendably sensitive Wahlberg). Asked if he had relatives he could stay with, the boy said, "My mom. But I don't want to go home just yet. I just want to stay with him [the slain father]."
Then it was off to court, where Erin ran into her fellow-lawyer ex Jack (Peter Hermann, the real-life husband of Mariska Hargitay...

When do major crimes detectives investigate car accidents? When they're not accidents.
Which is why a vehicle taking a header through the guard rail of the Bqe (Brooklyn Queens Expressway, for those of you not from NYC) led to the hunt for a serial killer. And a particularly green one at that.
Not only was our environmentally conscious killer eating vegan black bean burritos and probably wearing hemp clothing, he took the time to track down environmentally friendly, lead free bullets. How thoughtful. It's nice to know he was trying to protect the Earth while blowing people's brains out while they drove.
Is it wrong of me to admit that I'd gladly burn a few extra gallons to be able to drive that Porsche 911?
But back to the case. I knew the ex-military man hadn't committed suicide because there were still 20 minutes left in the show. However, I did love...

This episode was jammed packed with suspense and backstory, which as a fan, is just the kind of meat I love to sink my teeth into. The newest Number proves to bring back some memories for Reese (James Caviezel) when he was a fledgling CIA agent, things he'd probably love to forget, but we are treated to some juicy, character driven flashbacks in the process. But Reese isn't the only one having a tough time of it, as we see Fusco (Kevin Chapman) caught between a rock and hard place. Just when I think the show can't get any better! The newest Number, Cahill (Michael Aronov) might seem like a simple case until Reese discovers that Cahill is hooked up with some pretty shady characters. Okay, so Cahill is a bad guy, right? It sure seems that way as Cahill's crew, led by a guy named Vargas (Jose Zuniga) meets...

With McG’s next film – the Chris Pine/Reese Witherspoon/Tom Hardy hitman love triangle action caper This Means War – only a few months away from release, the man in charge is looking for his next project at Summit.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, one now seemingly firmly on his radar is Puzzle Palace. Written by David Guggenheim (Safe House), Puzzle Palace focuses on a lawyer’s attempts to free his wrongly convicted father by proving that he was framed. If that sounds a little light on action for the erstwhile Charlie’s Angels director never fear for the key to proving the lawyer’s father’s innocence lies in New York’s One Police Plaza where breaking in and getting out isn’t exactly a walk in the park.

Briefly: Early last year screenwrier David Guggenheim sold Puzzle Palace, a cop drama pitch to Summit. That sale came on the heels of Guggenheim selling Safe House, which has since been filmed by Daniel Espinosa with Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in the lead roles. Now Puzzle Palace is written, and it looks like the director will be McG. He's just finishing This Means War for Fox -- we just saw that trailer [1] in the past couple weeks -- and this could be his next film, though he's also got some other projects and television developments to juggle. All we've got on the story in Puzzle Palace is this, from THR [2]: The story centers on the son of a veteran police officer who learns his father is framed for murder. When he finds out that there is evidence hidden that could free his father, he is determined to find it,...

McG is in negotiations to direct the thriller "Puzzle Palace" for Summit Entertainment and Temple Hill says Heat Vision.
The story follows the son of a veteran cop who has been framed for murder. Evidence that could free him sits in the vaults of One Police Plaza, the most secure building in all of New York City.
Determined to find it, he ends up being locked inside the police HQ with crooked cops on his tail. David Guggenheim ("Safe House") penned the script.

When the trailer for the Chris Pine/Tom Hardy/Reese Witherspoon action romance This Means War was set upon the world earlier this month, I hoped it would be McG‘s swan song. But the blockbuster director behind Terminator: Salvation and Charlie’s Angels is getting more work and The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop on what his next film may be.
The director has begun negotiations with Summit Entertainment to step behind the camera for their thriller Puzzle Palace. The film comes from the mind of David Guggenheim, who has another thriller coming out next spring with Safe House starring Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington. We’ll get a glimpse of that one with the first trailer before Tower Heist next week, but one can read a synopsis of Puzzle Palace below.

Though he’s already got a few projects waiting for his attention, Terminator Salvation director McG is aiming to add one more, entering negotiations to direct Puzzle Palace for Summit. The script, which was written by Safe House's David Guggenheim, focuses on a lawyer who discovers that his father, a veteran police officer, has been framed for murder. Upon investigating, he finds there’s evidence that could free his dad, but there’s one teeny tiny problem: what he needs is locked deep inside New York’s One Police Plaza, possibly the most secure building in the city. That doesn’t stop him, though, and he breaks in, only to find himself locked inside the place with crooked cops bearing down…McG, who is putting the finishing touches to spy action comedy This Means War with Tom Hardy, Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon, is also a producer on another Guggenheim project,...
