Not Bad...

I guess I'm a bit bias as a person who wants to work for Jim Henson's company one day but its a good film. I was watching it again today and decided to look it up on IMDb and was stunned to see that it was from 1986. The puppetry is flawlessly executed and its appearance is timeless. The story is a bit childish but hey we need more family friendly movies in an age where if a movie doesn't have sex or violence it loses its audience. Since the film is in the tradition of most Henson films (with the exception of the first three and the final Muppet movie.) it looks very much like a fantasy. Though made for children I'm 20 and was still mildly amused when I watched it again. And I agree that if you see this one on DVD or VHS pick it up.

A Film I Grew Up On

Honestly, I believe there should be a soundtrack for this movie. I remember singing the songs when I was little. This is the sweetest movie for both kids and adults who enjoy Jim Henson. I do not want to give away anything, but I will simply say that despite the main characters being bunny puppets, they still teach us about confidence and how to get along with everybody. Sounds hokey (and probably is), but it always made me happy to watch.

This is the funniest movie ever made. The chemistry and connection between Bean and the dog is incredible. An inspiring movie about what one little bunny can accomplish with the help of his friends. THe farmer gets what he deserves. A must see movie for the whole family.

Excellent film for everybody

I don't know how anyone could not like the Tale of the Bunny Picnic. It has everything, humor, excitement, adventure, suspense, and great songs that never get tired. It's a fun film that everybody can enjoy, with a good message that you're never too small to help and do what's right. The final song at the end is very powerful and has a good message to it as well. Contrary to most of today's entertainment, there is no reason to worry about what somebody in the show might do. This is pure, wholesome, fun family entertainment. This is the kind of stuff that kids of this generation should be watching. 10 stars all the way. Three cheers for Jim Henson entertainment!

memorable

This film is great - one of Jim Henson's best. I saw it several years ago and can still remember it so clearly. The bunny rabbit Bean is so cute and by far the best character: my younger brother adopted that as his nickname after seeing the film. Its great for kids - but fun for adults too.

Wonderful family entertainment

This is Jim Henson at his best. With amazing and popular projects such as the Muppet Show and Labyrinth to his name, The Tale of the Bunny Picninc follows in good tradition. The Tale of the Bunny Picnic has humour and an excellent story line. The Tale of the Bunny Picnic is a fabulous family film, which has an appeal for all ages. I certainly had hours of enjoyment from this film as a child and would love to share this with my family. I have found it very difficult to purchase on VHS, new or used and feel that it is such a shame that The Tale of the Bunny Picnic is not available for purchase on DVD- I would certainly order a copy.

A fantastic Childhood movie

I first saw this almost 20yrs ago -

Being a fan of Jims other work such as the Muppet Movies , when this came along it was played over so much the VHS eventually gave up.

So glad to hear other people have seen it and appreciate how good it was.

Every single person I have asked has never heard of it...... With the exception of my cousins whom with the tape was regularly shared!!

Still now my cousins & I quote lines from it -

Especially the "Great great great great...... Grandmother!" one.

I am trying to get a copy to show my niece of 2yrs.....

I'm sure she will be hooked!!

So no matter how tough life gets - there will always be a smile when i think of "The Bunny Picnic"

A pure classic.

I loved this movie so much growing up. I watched it at least twice a week. It ranks right up there with the all time children's movies like Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas, Nester the Longeared Donkey and the like.

This movie had characters you can never forget. Like Bean, or the dog that was pretty much the dumbest dog you'd ever seen. But also the sweetest. The colors and music...even now I want to watch twice a week. Maybe more if I didn't have to work. It's hard to find this now, though. But if you do, get it and watch it....twice a week....just for me.

A great family film for any collection. You never get tired of Jim Henson.....anyone have any Tylenol?
