Awesome film
silvan-desouza30 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
JALWA is mostly remembered for Remo's song Yeh Hai Jalwa. The film however is a great entertainer cum cop thriller. It has a great concept against drugs and is superbly handled. People say its similar to BEVERLY COPS but yet it's a brilliant film. The film starts with Naseer in a get up of a beggar who comes to get drugs, actually he is a cop, who lives with his mother His Goan friend Albert Pinto(name sounds similar?)played by Pankaj Kapur who gets killed, and then Naseer goes with a mission to Goa. The film does have several funny scenes like the scenes between Satish Kaushik and Akash Khurana, There is only one guest appearance scene of Amitabh Bachchan. The film is well handled by Pankaj Parashar Music by Anand Milind is decent, Dekho Dekho by Remo became famous

Naseeruddin Shah is as always brilliant, the best part being his spontaneity, Archana Puran Singh is okay Cyrus Broacha plays a 12 year old kid brother of Archana and is cute, AK HANGAL is as usual, Satish kaushik and Akash Khurana are superb, especially the former who got famous later, Johny Lever too has a cameo which was repeated in KHILADI as the south Indian maalishwala. Rohini Hattangudy is good, Dalip Tahil is good, Amitabh Bachchan has a cameo, Tejeshwar Singh as the villain is good, The film has Farah Khan in the song Hot Hot Hot.

Indian adaptation of Beverly Hills Cop
desiensus18 June 2000
Imagine a freshly beefed-up Nasaruddin Shah as Eddie Murphy. Jalwa is a direct copy of the original but with a significant twist, Archana Puran Singh becomes the protagonist's love interest (the reason why Eddie Murphy appears without a love interest in the original is a discussion for another day). Amitaph Bachan appears in a cameo role playing himself. Murphy's visit from Detroit to LA is imitated by Shah going from Bombay to Goa. The cinematography is striking and the songs are passable. Shah proves that he is comfortable in the commercial format, which Singh shows the inadequacies of a novice.

Every single minute of the movie is enjoyable. Watched during my childhood days, it was recommended by my brother to watch this movie and till date it is one of my favorite. Songs were brilliant and goes with the theme of movie. Johny lever's comedy was amazing. If you love thrillers with good action and loads of comic moments, then don't miss this movie. Title track of the movie is one of the best from Remo and was remade several times in past. All in all a good enjoyable timepass movie. Don't miss at all
