Vietnam, 1967. U.S. Army nurse Colleen McMurphy faces the last week of her tour of duty at China Beach and dealing with a usual mixture of dying GI's, primitive working conditions, and the advances from Air Force pilot Natch Austin. Meanwhile, USO singers Georgia Lee and Laurette Barber arrive to entertain troops at the base's new R&R center, called the Jet Set Club, where Laurette sees a chance to make it big when Georgia falls ill and Laurette gets to take her place. Naive Red Cross volunteer, Cherry White, also arrives and is determined to find her brother, a marine no one can locate.
