Aag Se Khelenge review :
Probably the only film which teamed jumping jack Jeetendra with Anil Kapoor, Aag Se Khelenge was a surprise flop at the box office even though it had all the fire to please the 80s audience. After all, the film was full of maar dhaad, dance numbers as well as sexy Kimi Katkar to lure the front benchers. Even the normally coy Meenakshi Seshadri's thighs are oogled at by Anil Kapoor in one scene. Sadly, nothing worked!!
Riding on success of Tezaab (1988), Anil Kapoor had got his role increased plus an extra song was filmed on him. Thus, Jeetendra, the main lead, was sidelined in the second hour when Anil Kapoor's needless backstory gets lot of prominence. Kimi and Meenakshi had precious little to do while Raj Kiran looked jaded as a police inspector.
Of the villains, Amrish Puri was striking as Zaka with his solid dialogue delivery. Shakti Kapoor played his younger brother Shaka to perfection.
I missed Aag Se Khelenge at my regular Badal Bijlee cinema as it came and went in a jiffy. I caught it a couple of weeks later at Paradise cinema, Mahim when it had almost exhausted its theatrical run. I enjoyed the movie and looking at the enthusiastic audience response at Paradise, wondered why it flopped so badly.
