With Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver, the latest installment of Zack Snyder’s burgeoning sci-fi saga, hitting Netflix recently, I got the opportunity to sit down with the film’s VFX supervisor, Marcus Taormina, to discuss his work both in the VFX industry in general and on the new film specifically.

For nearly 30 years, Bethesda has been pushing the limits of the RPG genre. Though Bethesda has developed and produced a number of great games across numerous genres, their name will always be synonymous with titles like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Now that the studio has unleashed its latest RPG epic, Starfield, on the world, we thought this would be the perfect time to take a look back at the company’s history of blockbuster RPG experiences and try to determine which is the very best.
Before we dive into that, though, here are a few rules and pieces of selection criteria I used to assemble this list:
– This list largely focuses on RPGs developed by Bethesda (Bethesda Softworks/Bethesda Game Studios) rather than RPGs published by Bethesda. While that represents the bulk of the studio’s RPG output, titles like Pirates of the Caribbean and pseudo-RPGs like Dishonored, Prey,...

Arlo Parks has released her full-length follow-up to 2021’s Collapsed in Sunbeams, My Soft Machine. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below.
In a statement, the London-based singer-songwriter revealed the inspiration behind her sophomore LP as well as its title, which she lifted from the 2019 Joanna Hogg film, The Souvenir. “The world/our view of it is peppered by the biggest things we experience — our traumas, upbringing, vulnerabilities almost like visual snow,” she shared. “This record is life through my lens, through my body — the mid-20s anxiety, the substance abuse of friends around me, the viscera of being in love for the first time, navigating P.T.S.D. and grief and self-sabotage and joy, moving through worlds with wonder and sensitivity — what it’s like to be trapped in this particular body.”

On first listen, the second album from London singer-songwriter Arlo Parks sounds like something to luxuriate in; Parks sings and lays down poetry over plush textures and simmering beats. But a closer listen reveals that these pillowy structures are, in fact, cushions against the blows of modern life—bulwarks that keep Parks’ self, the “soft machine” referenced in the album title, moving without cutting herself off or suffering too much long-term damage.

Arlo Parks frolics in the desert, picks up hitchhikers and even keeps her cool when her car overheats in the video for “Pegasus,” a duet with Phoebe Bridgers (who sings on the chorus but doesn’t appear in the clip). By the end of the video, Parks’ retinue includes five people who are also pretty chill about Parks vibing out with headphones on. They even sit in a field and write, with Parks’ love interest giving her a note at the end.

Arlo Parks has released the new single “Pegasus,” a collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers. It’s the fourth track to come off the London singer-songwriter’s upcoming sophomore album My Soft Machine.
On “Pegasus,” Parks and Bridgers cooly harmonize during the chorus, with Parks delicately declaring statements of love and joy during the verses. Its hazy, ethereal nature fits the desert setting of its accompanying music video, which in itself was inspired by films like Gerry, My Own Private Idaho, and Paris, Texas.
“‘Pegasus’ is about experiencing the warmth and lightness of good love for the first time,” Parks shared in a press release. “It also explores how the absence of chaos and the presence of real connection can be a little bit terrifying after a long time of not having it.” Listen to the song below.

Arlo Parks has previewed her upcoming album, My Soft Machine, with the groovy new song “Blades.” Listen to the single below.
As Parks shared in a statement, “I wanted to make something that I can dance to, finally, because I feel like my songs don’t really have that quality in general. So, I took inspiration from bands like Esg, artists like Kaytranada, and a lot of the kind of 70s Zambian psychedelic rock that I love.”
“Blades” does the artist’s desires justice. Chilled out but melodic, the single combines slinky guitar, syncopated synths, and a singalong chorus, inspiring you to dance — even if Parks is singing about a fractured friendship.
“I imagine this moment at a party where you see someone across the room that you haven’t seen in a while, you felt yourself growing apart, and you’re like, should I, should I not?” Parks said.

Right now is an excellent time to be a fan of the horror genre and collector of physical media, as there are so many incredible companies doing great work in the space.
Here are five labels every horror fan should be aware of…
Vinegar Syndrome
If you have a deep interest in film preservation and film archives, you may already know the term “vinegar syndrome” which refers to the chemical process that causes a breakdown of film reels over time. These reels smell strongly like vinegar, hence the name.
Vinegar Syndrome the label was founded in 2012 with the goal to preserve and restore films from the 1960s through the 1980s. Preservation has always been top of mind with Vinegar Syndrome. Still, because of their fantastic preservation and restoration work, we also get some of the best DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K releases on the market from their archive.
