Jason Connery played James Bond Creator Ian Fleming. Jason is the son of Sir Sean Connery and Diane Cilento, Sir Sean famously played Bond in seven movies, with six in the official EON Productions film franchise.
Despite what is shown in this movie, Ian Fleming did not lead troops in the field. He worked as an assistant to Admiral Godfrey of Naval Intelligence. He was involved in planning operations and was noted for outlandish schemes. He was in charge of the intelligence commando outfit 30 Assault Unit, but did not take part in their missions.
Two of the cast members had previously appeared in James Bond movies, with Hugo Bower appearing in Octopussy (1983) and Fiona Fullerton portraying a Bond Girl in A View to a Kill (1985).
(At around fifty-four minutes) At one point during a card game in a Lisbon casino, the camera shows a close-up of the hands of Ian Fleming (Jason Connery) placing two round chips on the casino table, close to the number 7. Of course, this forms James Bond's Agent number, 007.
The third stanza of one of the movie's taglines stated "Nobody does it better" which was the name of the Bond song from The Spy Who Loved Me (1977).
