Thatcherism portrayed
safenoe22 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Beneath the explicit sex scenes in The Men's Room is the undercurrent of Thatcherism and its devastating impact on UK universities, especially sociology departments that suffered from Thatcher's ideal of the individual as opposed to society.

It's fascinating the two leads meet in 2000.

Disappointing

Maybe had I watched this when it was first shown, I may have enjoyed it but having seen it recently, I don't think it has aged well. The wonderful Bill Nighy is cinematic/TV gold and is as good as ever. However, the acting generally is very wooden (perhaps this was how things were directed in those days?) I'm not sure nowadays it lives up to the hype of the time.
