Warning: Spoilers
I saw this movie a few weeks ago for a class on Irish film and literature. It is truly bizarre. Has anyone seen this movie? The scene when shes miscarrying? (or having the baby you can't really tell) the use of the virgin Mary image and the supposed miracle of the "moving statues"?

That was a real thing that happened at that time you know? Supposivly the virgin Mary was appearing a lot and the statues moved or something. I'm not religious but the idea is interesting.

It's kind of a feminist film...

There are three definite scenes of the protagonist and the virgin Mary closely inter cut. Actually a lot of the editing techniques used were actually the techniques most often used in horror film. The final miscarriage birth sequence actually seemed really similar to the chest burster scene in aliens!

Loved this film

I remember this film as a 16 yr old. And I loved it for many reasons. One was that some scenes were shot in my bedroom (but those scenes weren't used) at that time and most just round the corner from my house (my little sister is also seen in it). I loved the storyline and even the acting which, for a wee group of Irish people from Derry and around Ireland at that time was brilliant. Would love to see it again. I especially loved it when a British soldier spoke to the boyfriend and he answered in IRISH and the soldier answered him back in Irish. The look on his face was priceless.lol. Very funny scene for the time.
