Actress Sandra Bullock was photographed for the first time since the death of her longtime partner, Bryan Randall, this August. The ‘Blind Side’ actress was spotted walking alongside her daughter, Laila, and her bodyguard, Peter Weireter, in Los Angeles, reports Page Six.
The mother-daughter duo appeared to be in calm spirits and held hands throughout the outing. At one point, Bullock stopped to chat with Laila before bending down and giving her a kiss on the cheek.
As per Page Six, the ‘Speed’ star kept her look casual chic in a white crewneck T-shirt, black slacks, black belt, tan coat and white sneakers. She wore minimal makeup and accessorised her look with a crossbody black pouch, black glasses, gold earrings and a gold necklace.
Meanwhile, Laila, 11, matched her mom’s laid back look in a two-piece blue velour sweatsuit with light blue and white sneakers.

The producers behind the Academy Award-winning movie The Blind Side have published a detailed statement addressing a legal filing by former NFL player Michael Oher, whom the film depicts.
Oher’s lawsuit against Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy has questioned the movie’s accuracy. In a legal petition against the Tuohy’s, Oher claims that the couple lied about adopting him and that the two manipulated him at 18 into naming them his conservators. Oher also alleges that he didn’t get any of the box office profits that the Tuohy family received.
Blind Side producers Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove are now defending the film as accurate.
“The Blind Side is verifiably authentic and will never be a lie or fake, regardless of the familial ups and downs that have occurred subsequent to the film. We are as proud of the film today as we were when our amazing collaborators made the movie 14 years ago,...

Producers behind “The Blind Side” have issued a statement affirming the authenticity of Michael Oher’s story as told in the film, responding to Oher’s recent allegations that the Tuohy family fabricated his adoption and instead placed him in a conservatorship that he is still restricted to.
“We feel it is now important for us to respond to some recent media reports, which include many mischaracterizations and uninformed opinions,” Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, “Blind Side” producers of and co-founders of Alcon Entertainment, said in a statement Thursday. “The impetus for these stories has been a lawsuit by Michael Oher, which seems to have given critics and journalists alike a justification to unfairly pick apart the movie fourteen years later – some going so far as to call it ‘fake’ or a ‘lie.’”

Alcon Entertainment, the company that produced The Blind Side, broke its silence Thursday after more than a week of the movie generating headlines as the subjects of the film traded accusations of ill-intentions and shakedowns. In a lawsuit filed Aug. 14, former NFL star and Blind Side subject Michael Oher said he was cheated out of profits for the film by the family at its center. But Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy have said they split profits from the movie with Oher and accused him of a $15 million “shakedown.”
Now Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, the co-heads of Alcon, are defending their Oscar hit, released in 2009, calling the accusations that the film’s true story was fabricated “mischaracterizations and uninformed opinions.” They also released an accounting of payments made in relation to the life rights to the project. (The deal was initially made at Fox, but Alcon inherited it when the company acquired the film.

Michael Lewis, the author of the book that “The Blind Side” was based on, says the “Hollywood studio system” is to blame for the ongoing feud between the Tuohy family and former NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher.
In an interview on Wednesday with the Washington Post, Lewis said that after agents and fees, each member of the Tuohy family earned roughly $350,000 from the commercially successful and Oscar-winning film. He also said the Tuohys planned to share the royalties with family members, including Oher, but Oher started to decline his royalty checks. Lewis believed that the family deposited Oher’s share in a trust for his son.
“Everybody should be mad at the Hollywood studio system,” Lewis told the Post. “Michael Oher should join the writers’ strike. It’s outrageous how Hollywood accounting works, but the money is not in the Tuohys’ pockets.”

Michael Oher is asking for privacy after filing a legal petition aimed at the Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, whose efforts to adopt him as as teenager were dramatized in the Sandra Bullock-starring feature “The Blind Side”.
In Oher’s petition, he claims that the couple never actually legally adopted him, but hoodwinked him into becoming his conservators in 2004, when he was just 18 years old, when he signed what he believed to be adoption papers.
“Michael trusted the Tuohys and signed where they told him to sign,” the former NFL player’s legal filing claims. “What he signed, however, and unknown to Michael until after February 2023, were not adoption papers, or the equivalent of adoption papers.”

A day after Michael Oher, the former NFL player and subject of the 2009 movie The Blind Side, alleged in a court filing that the family who took him in as a young player had deceived him about being adopted and deprived him of earnings from the Oscar-nominated film, the family has hit back.
A long rebuttal by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy’s high-powered entertainment attorney Marty Singer made public Tuesday said Oher’s claims “that the Tuohys have ever sought to profit off Mr. Oher is not only offensive, it is transparently ridiculous.”
Singer also said Oher recently “started to threaten [the family] about what he would do unless they paid him an eight-figure windfall, and, as part of that shakedown effort refused to cash the small profit checks from the Tuohys, they still deposited Mr. Oher’s equal share into a trust account they set up for his son.”

Sean Tuohy, the alleged adoptive father of former NFL player and Blind Side subject Michael Oher, said the family was “devastated” after Oher filed legal documents claiming the Tuohys never adopted him and profited wildly from his life and story.
Marty Singer, an attorney representing Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, released a statement on Tuesday, alleging Oher “threatened” to “plant a negative story about them in the press unless they paid him $15 million.” Singer called Oher’s alleged threat a “shakedown effort,” per Variety.

Captain Lee Rosbach once said that Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, who rose to fame being portrayed in the book and film The Blind Side, were his favorite Below Deck charter guests of all time.
The Tuohys’ story of how they adopted an underprivileged child who eventually played in the NFL was heartwarming. But now Michael Oher, who the Tuohys claimed to have adopted, said the story was a lie. Oher alleges that the couple lied about their intentions to adopt him, and instead put him in a conservatorship. This essentially removed his legal rights. Oher said he never received any royalties or money from the film.
He is now suing the Tuohys. When asked for his thoughts on the latest news about the couple, Rosbach only said, “They were one of my favorite charters ever.” So why did Rosbach say Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy were one of his favorites?...

Sean is speaking out following the allegations made by Michael Oher claiming he was tricked into signing a conservatorship which the Tuohys used to profit off his name.
Oher was the subject of the 2009 film The Blind Side, which in turn was based on a book by Michael Lewis. The John Lee Hancock-directed movie was a rag-to-riches story centered around Oher getting adopted by the Tuohy family who would guide him to pursue a career in football that would lead him to star in the NFL.
The offensive tackle player is now saying the film and book were based on a lie, something that Tuohy is contesting.
“We’re devastated,” Tuohy said, according to Daily Memphian. “It’s upsetting to think we would make money off any of our children. But we’re going to love Michael at 37 just like we loved him at 16.”

Michael Oher, the longtime NFL lineman who rose to national attention when his life story became the basis for the inspirational movie The Blind Side that won Sandra Bullock an Oscar, has petitioned a court saying the basis for the story was not based in fact.
According to a deep-dive story by ESPN on Monday, Oher has filed a petition in Tennessee probate court alleging that a key tenet of his rags-to-riches story — that he was adopted by the Tuohy family, who eventually guided Oher to play football at their alma mater the University of Mississippi and then to the NFL — was untrue. Rather, Oher claims he was tricked by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy to signing conservatorship papers just after he turned 18 that gave them the right to make deals in his name.
Oher did not discover the new information until February of this year, according to the petition.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” has generated Oscar buzz for Rami Malek‘s performance as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, and the film had a big opening weekend box office haul with $50 million in domestic receipts. It has all the hallmarks of a major awards player … except for the reviews. Critics have been decidedly mixed on the film, but does that necessarily doom it with the motion picture academy? Not necessarily.
As of this writing “Rhapsody” has a MetaCritic score of 49 based on 45 reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, which rates movies on just a pass-fail scale, the film is 60% fresh based on 246 reviews. Those numbers aren’t great in general, and especially for a film fighting to be considered the best of the best at year-end kudos. But the critical establishment doesn’t always line up with Oscar voters.

After great audience test scores, Paramount is moving Sean Anders’ Instant Family from its original Feb. 15, 2019 date to Nov. 16. That’s the weekend when Warner Bros.’ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald bows.
Given how family pics such as Wonder and Blind Side have respectively counterprogrammed such pre-Thanksgiving tentpoles like Justice League and Twilight Saga: New Moon in the past, sleeping to higher numbers, Paramount has confidence that Instant Family can do the same. Wonder opened to $27.5M and legged out to $132.4M in the face of Justice League‘s $93.8M opening, and final of $229M. Blind Side did $34.1M and ended its run in U.S./Canada at $255.9M in the shadow of New Moon‘s $142.8M opening, $296.6M final.
In Instant Family, Pete (Wahlberg) and Ellie (Rose Byrne) decide to start a family, they stumble into the world of foster care adoption. They hope to take in one...

Unlike her peers Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, and Gwyneth Paltrow, Sandra Bullock says she never received an unwanted advance from Harvey Weinstein. However, those actresses made a combined 10 films for the ex-studio chairman, who last month was arraigned on rape charges in Manhattan Criminal Court. Bullock told London’s Sunday Times that she had no opportunities to collaborate with Weinstein, and she liked it that way.
“I heard about Harvey and I was afraid of him,” she said. “I wasn’t asked to be in that world. I learned early on to shut things off so those things didn’t come my way.”

The “Ocean’s 8” star recalled standing up for a woman who others said won a part only because “‘She fucked Harvey.’ I would say, ‘Shut the fuck up. You don’t know that.

“Divorce” Season 1 was a petrified flower of a TV show. A black comedy that cut deep, again and again, like a particularly thorny rose that you couldn’t stop picking up, Sarah Jessica Parker’s return to HBO was met with an aptly mixed reaction. For some, it was too bleak and too suffocating in its exhausting exploration of a broken marriage. For others, it provided insight into (and thus relief from) one of life’s most prevalent predicaments, making the process of divorce both intriguing in its unexpected challenges and moving in its oh-so-human central characters. The dead rose poked back so much it felt alive, and viewers gleaned something meaningful with every prick.
“Divorce” Season 2 is a rose in bloom, in that much of the elements that scared off onlookers before have been pruned. In their place lies a show intent on discovery, hope, and positive thinking, ushered...

Stars: Casey Affleck, Lucas Hedges, Michelle Williams, Kyle Chandler | Written and Directed by Kenneth Lonergan
Kenneth Lonergan’s last film, Margaret – a vast New York opera which movingly explored the nature of subjectivity – was secretly one of the best American films of the century so far. But given that film’s “challenging” production and distribution, no one would begrudge him the success of Manchester by the Sea, a safer, more palatable awards contender.
Oscars shoe-in Casey Affleck plays Lee, a jobbing Boston janitor, endlessly shovelling driveways which will be snowed over by tomorrow. He gets glimpses of the lives of others but it only reinforces the sense that he hasn’t a life of his own. One day Lee learns that his brother Joe (Kyle Chandler) has died. Lee returns to the town of the title, where he is made aware that Joe’s son, Patrick (Lucas Hedges) is now...

If you haven’t had a chance yet to read Debra Birnbaum’s shake-up Emmys proposal in Variety, I highly recommend you do. Her argument seems tailor made for feedback from passionate awards watchers (i.e. Tfe readers) who have cultivated reams of opinions for how various awards bodies do business, nomination-wise, in an ever-changing marketplace of taste and broader appeal. Living in this age of television where high quality programs are on an infinity loop, she wonders whether the Emmys should consider expanding their Outstanding Drama and Comedy Series categories to ten nominees.
Sound familiar?

This year’s Oscars may very well feature many nominees from last year’s Academy Awards. This is often the case for actors and actresses, but this year it’s not just those in front of the camera who are looking for repeat nominations.
Director Alejandro González Iñárritu, who last year won best director, best original screenplay, and best picture for Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), is hoping that this year’s The Revenant will have similar success. Birdman producer John Lesher also may be in the running at this year’s awards with the Johnny Depp-starring “Whitey” Bulger biopic, Black Mass.
Many of last year’s acting nominees are also likely to earn repeat noms, including last year’s best actor Eddie Redmayne, who won for his depiction of physicist Stephen Hawking in 2014’s The Theory of Everything, and best actress Julianne Moore,...

David Gordon Green.s Our Brand is Crisis is an unusual animal. On some level, it.s a conventional underdog story. But it.s set in such a foreign locale . literally and figuratively . that the root material might not interest the casual moviegoer lured by the promise of a sassy Sandra Bullock fixing another problem for a male character in need of emotional assistance. This time around, Bullock is trying to Blind Side the entire country of Bolivia. and maybe learn a little bit about herself in the process. Our Brand is Crisis held its world premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, and was introduced by no less than Bullock . the clear lead . and her two producers, Grant Heslov and George Clooney. The fact that the duo.s production label, Smokehouse, backed the film should tell you the type of politi-comedy the movie tries to trade in. (Their combined...

Thus far, 2015 hasn’t been the strongest year for HBO original programming. The one-two punch of Veep and Silicon Valley made for one hell of a comedy duo, but only for ten weeks. Last Week Tonight is still a Sunday night saving grace, but replacement comedies Ballers and The Brink have been, at best, middling. After a Game of Thrones season that left many feeling cold as a Night’s Watchman, and with the jury still out on True Detective Season 2, it’s not like HBO couldn’t use something to invigorate its summer slate. 7 Days in Hell, airing this Saturday, should provide just such a shot in the arm.
For one, the special has timing on its side. A 45-minute film starring Andy Samberg and Thrones’ Kit Harington, 7 Days in Hell is a faux documentary recounting a weeklong tennis match at the Wimbledon championships. Half a day after the special airs,...

HBO's "7 Days in Hell" airs this Saturday, July 11, at 10 Pm Et/Pt and whew, it's not good. Starring Andy Samberg and "Game of Thrones" star Kit Harington as rival tennis players, the 45-minute special is a send up of the 2010 Wimbledon match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut, which ran for three days. Bad boy American, Aaron Williams (Samberg) and British home favorite Charles Poole (Harington) battle it out over the course of seven days with interviews and vignettes spliced in-between each day's play and with every passing minute it weighs heavier and heavier on your soul. Williams is something of an Andre Agassi, tennis bad boy that falls on hard times after killing a linesman with an errant serve, while Poole is a dimwitted Brit who can hardly tie his own shoes. Everything from weather to sex with streakers, phone calls from the Queen of England, sex with streakers,...

Remember all those people who were clamoring for the Academy to go back to the good ol’ days? When there were just five Best Picture nominees? Yeah, that’s not happening.* *Is "Toldja" trademarked? Is that appropriate here? The Academy’s Board of Governors met last night and a number of items were on the table. Many of the decisions voted on during the meeting were made public in a press release earlier today. In particular, there are new rules regarding producer credits for Best Picture nominees that involve PGA eligibility (a huge boost for the Producer’s Guild, by the way). The Visual Effects category will now have 20 shortlisted contenders in the first round. Even the Animated and Live Action Short Film contenders have some new qualifications to deal with. But changes to the Best Picture field? Sources tell HitFix the loud minority pushing for a return to the...

Andy Samberg and Kit Harington play out the tennis match for the ages in a new trailer for the HBO mockumentary “7 Days in Hell.” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s” Samberg plays hot-headed tennis star Aaron Williams, while “Game of Thrones” star Harington plays British tennis prodigy Charles Poole. The two come together for a historic match that John McEnroe calls “nothing short of a miracle” in the trailer. Straight off the bat the happy shockers are Marion Cotillard for Two Days One Night (edging out Jennifer Aniston), Laura Dern for Wild (where many assumed Jessica Chastain would be), the weird surprise is Bennett Miller in Director for Foxcatcher, our first "lone director" nod since the Academy expanded the Best Picture field. In terrible news there were only two nominations (Best Picture & Song) for the grand Selma... which places it in the unfortunate company of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and The Blind Side. Yikes! In less horrific but still weird disappointing news: Nightcrawler pulled an Into the Wild by doing really well at the guilds but not so much with Oscar.

A film about how the McDonald's burger empire came to be, from the director of Saving Mr Banks. Meet The Founder...
Right then: how about McDonald's: Origins? That's not a bad title to start with. For John Lee Hancock, the director of Saving Mr Banks and The Blind Side (and the screenwriter of the underrated Kevin Costner/Clint Eastwood movie A Perfect World) is tackling the rise of McDonald's for his next movie.
Robert Siegel has penned the screenplay for the project, which will go under the name of The Founder. And it'll follow the story of Ray Kroc, an Illinois salesman, and what happened when he met Mac and Dick McDonald in the 1950s. It might skip over the impact of the firm's burgers on the world, and we doubt Morgan Spurlock is consulting. But you never know.
(Well, we probably do in this case).

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 easily retained the top spot over a very slow post-Thanksgiving weekend.Without a single new nationwide release, the domestic box office took a dive: the Top 12 earned $70.2 million, which makes this the second-worst weekend of the year.In its third weekend, Mockingjay fell 61 percent to $22 million. While that drop looks steep, it's actually an improvement over Catching Fire's 65 percent drop at the same point last year. To date, Mockingjay has earned $258.2 million, which ranks fourth for the year (it will be in second place by Tuesday). If it follows Catching Fire's pattern from here, it will wrap up with around $330 million.Penguins of Madagascar took second place with $10.9 million, which is off 57 percent from its opening. In comparison, Rise of the Guardians only fell 44 percent on this same weekend in 2012. Penguins is now less than $1 million ahead of Guardians*$49.4 million vs. $48.8 million...

At the same time, the weekend's two new titles*Penguins of Madagascar and Horrible Bosses 2*were both disappointments. The Top 12 earned $154.9 million this weekend; that's down over 20 percent from the same frame last year, when The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Frozen earned a combined $142 million. In its second weekend, Mockingjay eased 53 percent to $57 million. That drop is identical to Catching Fire's, albeit off of a much lower opening weekend. To date, Mockingjay ranks seventh in 2014 with $225.7 million. If it follows Catching Fire's pattern, it will wrap up with $324 million, which is a bit lower than current 2014 leader Guardians of the Galaxy ($331.9 million and counting).Playing at 3,764 theaters, Penguins of Madagascar opened to $25.4 million this weekend. Quinton Aaron, best known as football star "Big Mike" Oher in The Blind Side, is tackling his weight problems after being booted from a flight for being too big. The 6'8" 550 lb. actor was recently kicked off a Us Airways flight bound for Rochester, N.Y., for taking up an extra economy seat. And the experience, the actor, 29, says, served as a huge wake up call. He's now vowing to lose the weight. With no seats in first class - his typical mode of airline transportation - the actor took up two in economy on his connecting flight from Philadelphia.

On a weekend in which most of the country was facing unusually frigid temperatures, Disney Animation's Frozen held well enough to take first place away from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Meanwhile, the lone newcomer Out of the Furnace was a major disappointment.Frozen fell 53 percent to $31.6 million, which is the highest post-Thanksgiving gross ever ahead of Toy Story 2 ($27.8 million). Frozen has now earned $134.3 million, and it remains on track for a total around $250 million. After hanging on well through the Thanksgiving holiday, Catching Fire plummeted 65 percent to $26.2 million this weekend.
