Made for TV (it shows)
vex86bird7 April 2002
I am a fan of Richard Grieco's and liked the movie. Although it's not a master piece that someday everyone will bow down to, it was a relative movie. I mean this by you can relate to the characters and the scenes. The plot is sort of cheesy about his brother and his used car lot, but the car racing scenes were cool. I mentioned in my summary that it is made for TV and shows because of the cinematography. The lighting in the film was all wrong as if it were done on a cheap budget. If you are a fan of real quarter mile racing by real gearheads, this film is for you. Parts of the movie drag on but the racing scenes have all the right feels. All in all, I'd give it a 6/10

Born To Gather Dust

Two brothers get involved with a gangster called Phil(!) who operates an illegal race track.. one competes in it while romancing the bad guy's girl, the other is a born loser who owes the criminal a lot of money. As you can appreciate, Phil(!) don't like either of them too much. Plus, there's police officers sniffing around, wanting the racing brother to grass on the baddie so they can shut down a substantial car racket. Hmm.. what to do..

Y'know I love my low budget unknown movies, and this one right here is a doozie. The car races last for all of 30 seconds and contain all the excitement of a game of billiards, and the acting is so bad it wouldn't look out of place in an episode of the BBC show doctors. The only cast member you'll have heard of is Richard Grieco, and he's not exactly a household name is he? And I only just found out it was made for TV too.. Wow, Que surprise there.

Good things? There is a brief sex scene, where we see that Ms Shelli Lether has a delightful body, even if her thespianism is a trifle disappointing. And another bit where the sleazebag brother (who is totally irritating throughout) is beaten up by a bunch of hired goons. Man, how I wish I coulda been the one wielding that baseball bat. All in all though, this mediocrity is only for those with a curious penchant for forgotten films and plenty of time on their hands. Like Moi, for instance.. 4/10

This movie is one of the best movies showing street racing,I loved it and have watched it so many time and still love the race scenes and the story isn't too bad but if your like me it will grow on you and make a good part of you movie collection,And as a street racer myself i love watching street racing movies and this is up their with running on empty and gone in sixty seconds. As for the cast Richard Grieco plays his part well and makes you feel for him and Shelli Lether well how cares if she can act or not just her looks and the sex scene will make up for the poor acting. and last of all the cars are the real stars a ford mustang and dodge I'd give it a 7/10.

Should Have Been More Popular!

This movie is one of my favorites because it's a lot like Fast and The Furious, except instead of tuners there's lots of muscle cars. It's also a lot darker and serious then most car movies and has a pretty good primary plot line. Very cool drag racing sequences but the story definitely isn't dominated by the "car" aspect of it. There is plenty of romance and drama as well. Richard Grieco plays a unbeatable driver who drag races a beautiful, red 1969 Ford Mustang pro street at a local track. But car people will find it pretty unrealistic that this car can't be beaten by ANYTHING that's at the highly crowded drag strip in the film. The drama comes from crooked business men that are corrupting the city with their sinister methods.

Modern-day reworking of Rebel Without A Cause
darrin20 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
As far as B-movies go, this one was above par. "Deaners" will surely get a kick out of seeing Greico donned in full Rebel regalia, right down to his white tee, jeans & Red windbreaker jacket. There's even a scene where Greico goes to the police station to report a death at one of the drag-racings gone wrong. Sound familiar? The Rebel coincidences keep on coming: say hello to a Sal Mineo type who looks up to Greico's character! eh And the son who longs to have his father's approval. The camera-work when Greico is in the car preparing to drag, is also straight out of Rebel. While most of this film takes place in the dark, it still managed to keep my interest.
