False advertising
lastliberal28 July 2007
Sabrina Masterson: I'm sorry Mother, God was only able to create *one* perfect daughter for you, now you'll just have to suffer with me.

I will never figure out the MPAA. They rated this "R" and i expected to see an interesting movie about sorority girls.

Unfortunately, it was just a boring story about the lose sister (Jamie Luner) trying to live up to her big sister's reputation. She uses all sorts of sneaky tricks, including blackmail, to beat the popular girl (Alyssa Milano) and impress her mother.

Naturally, she is just a loser and will always be a loser, just as this picture is.

A beautiful seething inferno of strife and malcontents!!!
underdunk11 September 2001
This movie had one of the most capturing stories I've ever seen. Every scene was a brisk continuation of the twist revealed in the last camera angle -- which never broke from the groove of style well worn by pornography! Smoke. A thrilling spectacle indeed which even one of the most unexcitable movie viewers of this generation can become enraptured and entangled within. If you ever go to the video store with nothing in particular in mind, try this overlooked screen gem.

another fun but underwhelming exploitation "remake"
ofumalow20 May 2013
One of several features commissioned for the cable "Rebel Highway" series--which asked interesting new directors/scenarists to liberally "remake" classic 1950s drive-in exploitation titles--this isn't a patch on Roger Corman's original 1957 "Sorority Girl." Like the latter, it portrays a seductive pathological liar and general mean girl who infiltrates a college sorority and quickly manages to wreak havoc with all the members, plus their boyfriends. It also echoes the original's poor-little-rich-girl theme in showing just how callous and shallow her mother is. But the B&W original is crude and lurid yet psychologically forceful (even shocking) in a way this slicker, more cynical, glibly p.c. update can't match. Part of it is that mores have changed so much since 1957, we can't possibly be shocked by the same content. But this "Confessions" is trite, sentimental, stereotypical and hyperbolic--not improving on its original in any way. It's semi-ironic cheese. The original movie's anti-heroine was a great troubled Z-noir figure; here she's just another sexy young "bad girl."

Deceit and evil? Yes. Pillowfights and T-shirts? NO!
brettster200014 May 2001
Look at the 4.2 rating and that tells you a lot about this film. For those that put comments here including the words "hot", "steamy", "Intriguing", or "perfect" need to watch a few more movies or they are just too generous. While Jamie Luner and Alyssa Milano are both beautiful and do a fine job of working with what they have, the script is a montage of cliche.

1) Spoiled rich girl, hates everyone, does evil to all who won't kneel before her. 2) Good girl in love, hides family shame, doubts boyfriend, forgives and love triumphs 3) Girl gets pregnant, boyfriend leaves her to deal with the shame and problems, boy returns to "do the right thing".

and last: 4) Audience, desperately pressing "FF" button on remote trying to find a partially nude scene or the relief of rolling credits signifying the end to this terrible waste of film.

Disapointing
jonspratt26 June 2001
This movie looked like it was going to be a good time when I picked it up at the movie rental. My friend and I were disapointed with the thin plot, and predictable twists. Plus, it tried to be edgy, but cut away from the hot scenes. Not very good. 4 out of 10, and a waste of time.

Richard Wright is a fool; this movie is Horrible!
count_devine15 March 2002
This movie was in the new release section 8 years after it came out. It is one of the worst films I have seen in recent years. Richard Wright is obviously interested in promoting this movie, or perhaps he was thinking of another, much, much different film. The plot is predictable and completely unbelievable, the acting is awful. Even the music and set are miserable. If you don't want to take my word for it, go watch it, but don't say I didn't warn you!!

Worst movie I think I've ever had the displeasure of seeing.
damon-2722 February 2001
This was the worst movie I think I've ever seen. The acting is horrible, the plot it moronic and no nudity as a consolation prize. Blockbuster needs a refund policy. Alyssa is good in it, thats the extent of anything good in the movie.

How to waste 2 hours.
Daniellelam8628 October 2005
This film is the biggest waste of time, I can't believe I wasted 2 hours of my life, 2 hours that'll I'll never be able to get back. Gutted. It was just shown on TV so at least I didn't waste any cash too.

People have said it has a good sound track and utilises the 50's era fashion, but in my opinion, I think the soundtrack sounds like a cheesy 80's rock compilation and the fashion needs some sense.

The overall plot is predictable, if you want to watch a good girl/bad girl format, stick to Cruel Intentions which does have an amazing soundtrack and one even the lads will want to see. The ending has been left open for a sequel, but, as far as I know, there isn't one. Thank God.

The only thing this film is good for is if you've got a couple of hours to spare and you haven't got anything better to do, such as watching paint dry.

Great, superb movie, but leaves audience hanging at the end.

Warning: Spoilers
I like a lot of this movie, especially the character of Sabrina! Man, I want to own a 1958 Corvette now!

It's really too bad there are no extra features on the DVD, I don't own it but that's what I've heard. I would have really looked forward to a director's cut or bloopers, deleted scenes, interviews, film locations be disclosed.

The movie had some big flaws, one of which is that we know nothing about Sabrina's history and just how bad of a girl she had been in the past (and how she came about getting that fantastic car). Makes me want to watch a Prequel, or Sequel (after jailtime, is she reformed?).

I have to keep in mind that it was a made-for-TV movie, and I am glad this movie exists, despite it's imperfections. The character of Rita Summers, Mort's GF, wasn't very strong and didn't fight back against Sabrina's aggressiveness. That was disappointing.

Maybe if it were a TV mini-series it would have been better. Then again maybe not. A full blown TV series, yes.

I feel as though the only good acting in the movie was done by the actors of Sabrina and Mort. Also Sabrina's mother was pretty good although brief. If you notice, the actor of her mother played a Starfleet Admiral in Star Trek: TNG.

After watching the movie, I'm glad I watched it but at the same time I am angry that the audience was left hanging without closure. Sabrina is clearly going to be different now, hopefully she will reform and be not such a bad girl anymore and finally get a college degree and be a mother. Maybe I should mail Jamie Luner and ask if she'd want to do a Sequel!

Also, good information for fans; 'Confessions of sorority girls' was filmed at King Gillette Ranch/Soka University! I might roll through there one day with a Corvette... Just look up King Gillette Ranch on Google Maps and you hover the orange streetview guy around and there are still images that will pop up. The entrance matches the scene where Sabrina drives up to the 'Fillmore College' sign!!

Condemnation of a Sorority Girl Gone Psycho
RavenGlamDVDCollector25 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
TV's perennial bad girl, Jamie Luner, embarks on her career of portraying vixens after graduating from JUST THE TEN OF US. But this one is a remake, and therefore doomed to failure. A far more fun movie could have been made if they refrained from turning Sabrina into a murderous baseball bat-wielding terror towards the end. The movie is badly constructed. What's with those lines appearing on the screen between jump cuts? Really bothersome! Best thing about it? The leggy poolside scene with Jamie, of course! Hell, you have a pretty actress like that, why go and bother with psychotic stuff? Oh, and Danni Wheeler's sexy pose on the bed with her legs bent back, pretty feet dangling, nice bare soles, yum! But the script- writer had to go and ruin the fun by getting all demented. The earliest sign that the movie is going to disappoint is with the poodle scene at the beginning. (By the way, what's up with all the poodle references in the film? A poodle fetish?) What is shown is pointless. What they should have had was a muddy road, and the corvette splashing mud over both poodle and mistress, Sabrina racing away gleefully, looking for more victims. And the mistreated girls in the movie should have gotten their own back on Sabrina simply by standing together and making a fool of her. A taste of her own medicine. Alyssa Milano gave such a weak performance, though, that it is doubtful this could have been carried off! Look at the box cover of the DVD. It promises to be fun. Remember what a wonderful bad girl Jamie was in SAVANNAH and MELROSE PLACE? So this is why I am so unimpressed with this classic example of a missed opportunity to do something much more worthwhile!

Turn mute on, lock the door, and have a great time.

One night me and Jud had nothing better to do then drink and six pack and rent a movie (apologies to those Hardcore sXr edgers who think I am a loser for that). Being intelligent young lads we perused the store for an intelligent film which would arouse intellectual discourse. You know, something like waking life...instead we saw this and acknowledged that Alyssa Milano's cleavage looked pretty good. I always had a crush on her. Anyhow, this movie was completely satisfying. Sure it was retarded, but if you possibly purchase this expecting a good movie I think you should blame your own poor judgement. This movie featured numerous scenes with Alyssa Milano looking hot and Jamie Luner did not look bad either. I also like the 1950s private college/beach party setting. What a nice retro touch! Finally the climactic end scene could not be denied, I will not reveal it, I will only say that it was worth the wait.

not bad
newellt-14 February 2001
I liked this movie although it could have been better. It was supposed to be about back stabbing and all that. From what I saw the girl was not very good at it none of her plans really fooled anyone for more then about 10 minutes? Everyone was on to her from the start for it to be someone that is really good at betrayal. They should be able to get away with it until they make some mistake she made mistakes all the way through the movie?

When she's bad, she's very, very good...
nathid16 March 2001
After about two years of searching, I have finally found a copy of "Confessions of a Sorority Girl" on video, and it was better than I thought it would be!!!

The beautiful Jamie Luner was perfectly cast as Sabrina, the misunderstood new girl at school. The basic story is this...

Sabrina (Jamie Luner) arrives at a new school, which her sister attended a few years before. Everyone expects Sabrina to live up to her sister's high standards, but Sabrina has other plans.

She tries to steal Alyssa Milano's boyfriend (Brian Bloom) and goes to all lengths to embarrass the other girls, until she finally goes too far...

It's a brilliant take on the Good Girl / Bad Girl theme and it is brilliantly done. Set in the fifties, it takes advantage of the fashion and music of that era.

5 Stars!!!

Intriguing and gorgeous film noir posing as a teen pic.

A lonely rich girl believes that she can buy friendship and goes completely overboard. Intriguing and gorgeous film noir posing as a teen pic.

Great cast and worthwhile soundtrack, consisting of relatively unknown fifties songs.

Exciting story
SHOCK-69 April 2000
I watched this tv movie a couple years ago and i havent seen it since then and unfortunately its not available on video. The movie is about a beautiful girl who goes after her roomates boyfriend and ruins a few lives along the way. However the way Jamie Luner plays her role you actually begin to root for her even when she's malicious. The setting is in the 1950s but looks so modern and cool. This is the perfect movie to watch on a hot summer day with a friend!

Scorching stuff, with hot action
rich-23624 November 1999
A inspired storyline for one of the most original and entertaining sorority movies of the early 90's. Alyssa Milano as Rita is superb and is definitely one of the best young actresses of her generation.

When the new girl at Sorority High starts causing trouble, you know that troublesome adventures will ensue. In short, this is a classic film which would only be more complete with the addition of Bella Emburg as a strict Swedish headmistress. 10/10 a Must see!!!
