Magical

A really delightful film from Hungarian director and star Robert Koltai.

It captured the deliciousness of small-time Hungarian life, as viewed through the eyes of a teenage boy and his lively uncle. Although weepy and sentimental at times, it has enough "colorful" humor and subtle wit to please everyone. Highly recommended.

Beautiful

Nice music, living characters, sexual awakening of a boy, the smell of life, the way of enjoying life in the communist era even if we're beaten till death...a wonderful movie to watch again and again. Strongly recommended for everyone who wants to see a non-popcorn but really popular Hungarian movie.

This movie started the awakening of Hungarian cinema after years of self-important art movies with no one in the cinemas.
