The studio announced that in a long-rumored move, Todd Haynes’ “Dark Waters” will open on Nov. 22 in limited release before expanding on Nov. 29. And with Mark Ruffalo and Anne Hathaway toplining, it immediately becomes another late non-festival Oscar player along with “Cats,” “Bombshell,” “1917” and “Queen & Slim.”

Todd Haynes’ next film, which stars Anne Hathaway and Mark Ruffalo, just landed a new title and an awards-friendly November release date.
Focus Features will release Haynes’ “Dark Waters” in limited release on Nov. 22, 2019, the distributor announced Monday. The Thanksgiving release puts it up opposite Sony’s “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” and Disney’s “Frozen 2.”
“Dark Waters” is inspired by the true story of a tenacious attorney (Ruffalo) who uncovers a dark secret that connects a growing number of unexplained deaths due to one of the world’s largest corporations. In the process, he risks everything – his future, his family, and his own life – to expose the truth.
The feature is based on Nathaniel Rich’s New York Times Magazine article “The Lawyer Who Became DuPont’s Worst Nightmare,” regarding the notable chemical company DuPont.

Japan has officially named Makoto Shinkai’s “Weathering With You” its 2020 Oscar entry in the Best International Film category, which is the new name being given to the Best Foreign Language Film prize. The selection makes “Weathering With You” the first anime movie to represent Japan in the category at the Oscars in over 20 years. The country’s last anime Oscar submission was Hayao Miyazaki’s “Princess Mononoke” in 1997, but it failed to land a nomination the following year at the 70th Academy Awards.
“Weathering With You” is Shinkai’s first directorial effort since earning newfound international acclaim and recognition after the release of the 2016 anime blockbuster “Your Name.” Shinkai’s latest centers around the romance between a high school runaway from Tokyo and a young orphan girl who appears to be able to manipulate the weather.

Well, that was one hell of an episode of Arrow, wasn’t it? Throughout its four-plus seasons, Arrow has always done mid-season finales incredibly well, whether you’re talking about “Three Ghosts,” “The Climb,” or even last year’s “Dark Waters,” and “What We Leave Behind” is no exception. Holiday themed episodes of Arrow are always awful. If it is Christmas in Star City, Oliver Queen is going to have a bad day. The most depressing holiday episode is easily last season's "Dark Waters" where Felicity was savagely attacked and paralyzed. "What We Leave Behind" tries very hard to take the dark crown from "Dark Waters" and crafts an episode where the team, but especially Oliver, continually loses each and every battle. "What We Leave Behind" might be the best winter finale of Arrow yet for the way it combines big reveals with great action but it is deeply and truly depressing.

On Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 6, we boarded the Nautilus with Killian Jones, and learned about his less than pleasant run in with Captain Nemo and his first mate Liam.
Did anyone call for an awkward and violent half-brother reunion?
Below, TV Fanatics Caralynn Lippo, Allison Nichols, Steve Ford, and Robin Harry, along with Once Upon a Fan's Teresa Martin, share their views on the Evil Queen's relationship with Henry and Rumple, the new plan for the shears, and more from "Dark Waters."
Does the Evil Queen really care about Henry, or is she just manipulating him to get what she wants?
Caralynn: It's tough to say. We do know, based on Hyde's relationship with Mary, that the evil halves are actually capable of feeling love/other positive emotions. I think it's likely that Eq does care about Henry, but she also wouldn't hesitate to manipulate him to get what she needs.

Once Upon a Time episode 6, "Dark Waters," introduced another character from the Land of Untold Stories while exploring a part of Hook's past. It's been a while since we've gotten a Hook back story, and I thought the writers meshed Hook and the Land of Untold Stories fairly well. The storyline also gave the writers the opportunity to explore the new dynamic between Hook and Henry.

I’ve really appreciated the new direction that Once Upon A Time has taken so far in Season 6. They’ve been back to their roots in terms of storytelling, and most of the mysteries have actually been compelling, something that has not always been the case. The show works really well when they never forget even a piece of their backstory, and tonight they had a major payoff that served their show well. This week on Once Upon A Time: In the flashbacks, Hook is taken aboard the Nautilus, to help Captain Nemo with a mission, and discovers someone from his past aboard the ship.

We're headed under the sea!
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, to be exact.
On Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 6, we're going to see a flashback to a time when Killian was kidnapped by Captain Nemo, and spent some time of the legendary Nautilus.
Elsewhere in the hour, Zelena and the Evil Queen are wreaking havoc keeping Archie prisoner, and sowing seeds of doubt among the heroes, and Emma will spend some quality time with Aladdin, trying to persuade him to work with Jasmine and defeat Jafar, despite his lack of Savior magic.
The official description from ABC for "Dark Waters" reads as follows:
"Emma tries to convince Aladdin to work with Jasmine to help Agrabah, while Regina teams up with Snow and David to free Archie from Zelena.
The Evil Queen sows suspicion between Henry and Hook, even as Mr. Gold reminds her of his most important lesson.

Wondering how all the DC universe TV spin-offs, crossovers and webseries fit together? We have the answer...
In October 2012, Us network The CW launched the first season of Arrow, after wrapping up no fewer than ten seasons of Superman origin show Smallville a year before. Arrow was a completely new take on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, in a new universe that had nothing to do with Smallville or its version of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. The series proved quite the hit for The CW, and a second season renewal inevitably followed. In season two, we were introduced to forensic scientist Barry Allen, better known to DC Comics readers as The Flash. Arrow got a third season, The Flash got his own TV show with great success, and the live action shared DC Comics universe on TV was born. And with it the question: how does it all fit together?...

While the fourth season of Arrow proved to be highly divisive among fans, it’s probably safe to say that many will still want it to adorn their shelves. And for those who do, you’ll be glad to know that on August 30, you can bring home Oliver Queen’s latest adventures on either Blu-Ray or DVD.
Something that I found to be cool about this upcoming set is that it actually includes an episode of The Flash, so you can enjoy both parts of the mid-season crossover in case you elect to buy only one series. Furthermore, several bonus features focus on the likes of Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Vandal Savage, which seems appropriate given that said crossover served as a backdoor pilot for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Between the Lazarus Pit, Nanda Parbat and the return of an old friend, the latest Arrow season 4 episode is swimming in deja-vu...
This review contains spoilers.
4.12 Unchained
If there's one salvageable thing to come out of last season's Ra's al Ghul storyline, it was Nyssa. Previously a love interest for Sara and a foil for Oliver, Nyssa has quietly become one of Arrow's most intriguing figures, a person outside of Team Arrow, outside of Malcolm's new League of Assassins, operating largely in the background.
This gives her a certain edge over the rest of our heroes as, while still being humanised at various points thanks to her aforementioned romance with Sara, she's often more level-headed than anyone else on the show. Her mission to take down Malcolm is one that makes complete sense after what we've witnessed, and her manoeuvrings to get there were revealed across...

Arrow season 4's latest filler episode delivers two sidekick-centric storylines for Felicity and Diggle...
This review contains spoilers.
4.11 A.W.O.L.
Until now, Arrow has always, disappointingly, made the struggles of its supporting characters all about Oliver. When it was confirmed that the outcome of Darhk's attack would leave Felicity wheelchair-bound, it was a significant worry that her paralysis would simply be an excuse for the show to backtrack on Oliver's attitude adjustment. He doesn't handle tragedy well and, despite his relatively lighthearted demeanour this season, old habits die hard.
And to a certain extent this can be expected given the fact that Oliver is the show's solo protagonist. But at a certain point fans attach to the supporting cast and, on Arrow especially, the hero becomes one of the least interesting ingredients in the recipe.
What a relief, then, that the episode decided to focus...

Arrow returns with an episode that hinges on whether you cared about that mid-season cliffhanger...

4.10 Blood Debts
So Felicity isn't in the grave, which was obvious to anyone paying attention to dates, and we're still no closer to finding out it's true occupant. Our enjoyment of Blood Debts relied on how much we cared about that cliffhanger, and with the combination of obvious writer trickery to throw us off the scent over the break and an episode that was busy with several non-Felicity plotlines to set up and pay off, it's hard to know how to feel about the outcome.
The attack in the mid-season finale has consequences, which is nice, but it's again very unlikely that Felicity will actually remain paralysed for the rest of her time on the show. Sadly, primetime Us dramas just aren't there yet (but they're free to...

After a solid month of wondering and speculation Arrow finally revealed Felicity's uncertain fate at the end of "Dark Waters". Felicity survived the attack at the hands of Damien Darhk's Ghosts, as we all knew that she would. Felicity did not leave the attack unscathed. Felicity has now been permanently paralyzed with the doctors saying she will never walk again. Was this the right move on Arrow's part? Is it possible that this paralyzed status might not even be permanent?...

The final scene of "Dark Waters" was about as dark as Arrow has ever been in its four year run. Oliver and Felicity had finally got engaged, only for them to be attacked and Felicity to slump lifeless into Oliver's arms. Since that dreary cliffhanger, Arrow has played it notoriously coy with Felicity's fate. She was intentionally not shown in many of the promo materials for the midseason and Arrow kept the secret of her fate surprisingly quiet. Now in the chilling fallout episode, "Blood Debts," the answer of what happened to Felicity is finally revealed.

Arrow’s fourth season debuted in the second half of 2015 and left fans eagerly awaiting more as the show took off for its mid-season break. Fear not, though, for the show is set to return to screens imminently.
Despite being promised a lighter, happier tone for Arrow, supposedly much more like the feel of The Flash, the Emerald Archer-centric series has continued to skulk in the shadows for the most part, even though the season opened with a happy-go-lucky Oliver Queen shacked up with Felicity Smoak as they spent their days jogging and perfecting omelettes.

With spoilers for Arrow season 4 so far, we chew over its overreaching mystery: which character is going to die?
This article contains spoilers for Arrow season 4 so far (up to episode 9, Dark Waters).
Since its very first episode, Arrow has played around with its timeline. Far from content with sticking to a normal linear narrative, the show has a tendency to intercut the modern day vigilantism of Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen/Green Arrow with the five years he spent in ‘Hell’ (Ollie’s term for his surprisingly globetrotting origin story) prior to the main timeline of the series.
Season 4 introduced a new idea, as well – what if the show could jump forward in time too? We haven’t just seen Oliver’s heroic present and his morally murky past in season 4, then, we’ve also caught a glimpse of his future. In the season 4 premiere, we...
