Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that David Yost will be joining the cast of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury as Billy Cranston, the original Blue Ranger.
David Yost was part of the original cast of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers when it debuted thirty years ago (bloody hell). He left in the middle of the fourth season (Power Rangers Zeo) in 1996, later saying that it was because of continued harassment over his sexual orientation. Yost reprised the role for Netflix’s 30th anniversary special Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always and will be taking on a main role for Cosmic Fury.

Power Rangers will celebrate its 30th season next year and it’s tackling this anniversary season with a true throwback to the past For most of its life, each new Power Rangers season would feature a completely new cast, story line, and a new adaption of a Japanese Super Sentai series. This somewhat changed starting in 2011 with Power Rangers Samurai where the traditional season was broken into two smaller seasons but it was still business as usual. The only seasons that carried over a large majority of their casts were the first five, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, and Power Rangers in Space.
However, for the first time since those seasons, Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury won’t be introducing a whole new cast. Instead, Cosmic Fury will feature the entire main cast from Power Rangers Dino Fury returning in their same roles. A video from Hasbro Pulse confirmed the news,...

On Oct. 15, 2021, Power Rangers Dino Fury’s ‘The Matchmaker’ debuted on Netflix and ended like most Power Rangers episodes do. In it, the Dino Fury team saves the world from a giant monster and Javi, the Black Ranger, learns a valuable life lesson in communication after assuming his sister Izzy, the Green Ranger, had a crush on a guy.
“She really was acting different though,” Javi tries to reason. “I was sure it was cause she had feelings for someone.”
He turns around he spots Izzy smiling with Fern, another teen girl and athlete,
“Feel like ramen?” Fern asks.
“My favorite,” Izzy warmly responds, and holds out her hand to Fern. The two walk off, hand in hand, smiling affectionately at each other. The other Rangers watch them go, delightfully overwhelmed with how cute the two are. Izzy puts her head on Fern’s shoulder.

For years rumors have run rampant about how the Dairanger suits would have been adapted into Power Rangers. We discovered the truth.
The Ranger suits of the Japanese Sentai series Dairanger are, arguably, the biggest source of rumors and speculation amongst Power Rangers fans. For those not deeply in the know about Power Rangers history, the popular kids franchise is an adaptation of a Japanese series called Super Sentai. Each year Power Rangers takes the footage of the Rangers in suit from Sentai and shoots their own unsuited sequences to create a (mostly) all-new show.
Nowadays it’s a well oiled machine. A Sentai season comes out, an English speaking team of writers and producers create a new season for Power Rangers that incorporates the suits, weapons, and pretty much everything they can use to sell toys. However, when Power Rangers first began it was a very different story.

It's been a long time coming but the Power Rangers comics are finally uniting the original three Rangers and their replacements.
Season 2 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers featured the hand-off of powers between Jason, Zack, and Trini to Rocky, Adam, and Aisha. The two groups never truly met in person during Mmpr since the actors for the original trio had left the show. Rocky and Adam did later meet Jason when he returned in Power Rangers Zeo but we sadly never got the chance to see the full trio meet up.
Well, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics are about to make it happen. If you haven't been reading the comics, Jason, Zack, and Trini left the team but did it to become the Omega Rangers. At first they kept their idetities secret from the rest of the team but at the end of issue #46 they revealed themselves.

Boom! Studios' "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" #31, available September 26, 2018, is written by Marguerite Bennett and illustrated by Simone di Meo, with covers by Jamal Campbell, Miguel Mercado, Jordan Gibson and Joana Lafuente:
"...after the stunning conclusion to the event 'Power Rangers: Shattered Grid', an all-new, all-star team of 'Power Rangers' is drawn together from across time and space to combat a never-before-seen evil.
"As they fight to prove to themselves and each other that they have what it takes to survive in a dangerous new environment, these iconic 'Power Rangers' must defeat the onslaught of an unfamiliar, terrifying new villain.
"This new team includes 'The Ranger Slayer', an alternate universe version of 'Kimberly Hart', the original 'Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger' who recently debuted in the pages of 'Saban's Go Go Power Rangers', 'Cameron Watanabe', the 'Green Ranger' from 'Power Rangers Ninja Storm', 'Tanya Sloan',...

A perennial institution of children’s programming, the Power Rangers have stuck around for 25 seasons of punching rubber monsters in spandex and teaching us all valuable lessons about teamwork. Obviously, its longevity is at least partially due to how cheap it is to make, since every Power Rangers season is mostly repurposed from the long-running Japanese tokusatsu series “Super Sentai,” splicing Japan’s spandex fight footage and Zord fights and filming new stuff with English-speaking actors.
While most Power Rangers seasons can be more than a little formulaic, to say the least, never let it be said the show shied away from the surreal and bizarre. After all, this is a show whose basic plotline was that “teenagers with attitude” get in a giant robot made of dinosaurs to fight ghoulies sent by a witch who lives on the moon, under orders from a floating head in a tube. Update: The rumor of Jason David Frank's involvement has been debunked by Jason David Frank on his official fan page.
I've got a couple bits of new Power Rangers movie news to share with you today. Just yesterday we got our first look at what Goldar will look like in the film, and it was completely trashed by the fans. The images of the villain sparked a little argument with Blake Foster on his Instagram page which caused him to drop a bit of news about the film. In case you don't know who Foster is, he plays Justin Stewart/Blue Ranger in the Power Rangers Turbo series.
It seems like he must have a little inside information because during the argument he said, "you don't even know bro but Jdf is in it so don't come on my page trying to bash people."
Jdf would be short for Jason David Frank,...

Chicago – Voiceover artist Alex Borstein is familiar to TV audiences as the legendary Lois Griffin of “Family Guy,” but she also is a stellar character actress, recently in a role on the HBO series “Getting On.” She is back in the animation saddle with a couple of voiceover parts in the new Fox Network show ‘Bordertown.’
“Bordertown” is created by Mark Hentemann and is produced by Seth MacFarlane, the creator of “Family Guy.” It involves the Buckwald and Gonzalez families in a Southwest desert town on the Mexico-u.S. border, and Alex Borstein voices both the Buckwald mother Janice and her hapless daughter Becky. The show is sharp and funny, with the satire that is familiar to Seth MacFarlane animation fans. “Bordertown” premiered on the Fox Network on January 3rd, 2016, and is now on Sunday nights.

This weekend, I had the opportunity to attend my first ever comic convention, Wizard World Comic Con in Louisville, Kentucky. Among various opportunities for the press, I had the opportunity to meet and briefly interview one of my childhood heroes, Jason David Frank. Frank’s notoriety is due in large part to his time on Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers (as the Green and White Rangers), Power Rangers Zeo (as the Red Ranger), Power Rangers Turbo (as the first Red Ranger), and Power Rangers Dino Thunder (as the Black Ranger). He also has appeared in the films based on the Mighty Morphin’ and Turbo properties, and has made cameo appearances on more recent Power Rangers seasons, such as Power Rangers Wild Force’s “Forever Red” and, most recently, Power Rangers Super Megaforce’s “Legendary Battle.” Nowadays, Frank (commonly known as “Jdf”) keeps busy by visiting many different Comic-Cons, filming a reality series about his life…...

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will unite once again to do battle with a series of weird and wonderful monsters. Though the series has been on air since 1993, this new incarnation will be a big budget reboot from the team behind Twilight, The Hunger Games and Divergent.

But what became of the original (and best!) Power Rangers cast we worshipped in the early '90s? Digital Spy finds out what happened to the all-action sextet below.
David Yost (Blue Ranger/Billy Cranston)
David Yost landed the role of Blue Ranger Billy Cranston just three months after moving to California in 1993. In an intriguing piece of trivia, his character was named after Bryan Cranston, who at the time was doing voice work for Power Rangers producer Haim Saban.
Yost appeared in more than 200 episodes of Power Rangers, making him the only Ranger to appear in every episode of the original series.

For over 25 years, Power Rangers has taken footage from Japanese series Super Sentai wholesale. Here's a season by season look at how.
For any of you not in the know, Power Rangers is not a wholly original show. “No Way!” you may cry. Wait! Don’t go off into the Desert of Despair... let me explain.
Power Rangers takes much of its battle footage from a Japanese program called Super Sentai. Every year since its inception they’ve used footage and even some plotlines from the Japanese program to varying degrees of success. Sometimes the adaptation works and sometimes… well.
We'll just get right into it.
Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger – Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 1
Mmpr threw Zyuranger to the wind. It didn’t care what the plot was; it was just bending the footage any way they could to get 40 episodes.

Before he was a bumbling sitcom father and way before he was a menacing drug lord, Bryan Cranston was on "Power Rangers." The "Breaking Bad" actor spoke about his experience during a Reddit Ama.
"I did voice work for the 'Power Rangers' years and years ago," Cranston wrote. "Someone once told me they named the blue Power Ranger after me, his last name was Cranston. I found out years later that was true."
David Yost played Billy Cranston, the Blue Ranger, on " Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," the film of the same name and in "Power Rangers Zeo."
Cranston voiced two monsters, Snizard, according to IMDb and Twin Man, according to The Bored Ninja.
"Breaking Bad" returns with its final episodes on AMC starting Sunday, August 11. Cranston has won three Emmys for playing Walter White on the hit AMC series.
Watch a video of Cranston's "Power Rangers" work below.

2013 marks the 20th anniversary of Power Rangers. I grew up with the teenage superheroes from Angel Grove and have been reliving my childhood by rewatching the series on Netflix. Last month, I started a year long series of articles celebrating the anniversary with 5 Power Ranger Rip-Offs You Probably Forgot. This month, I have delved into the massive Power Ranger archives to deliver the following trivia that you didn’t know about the series.
10. The Perfect Attendance Award Goes To…
Billy and Alpha 5 are the only main characters to appear in all 155 episodes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. That’s right, the nerd and the robot appeared in every episode of the original series. This is due in part to the departure of Austin St. John (Jason), Thuy Thang (Trini) and Walter Emanuel Johns (Zack) halfway through the second season and Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly) leaving toward the end of the third season.

There’s no better way to spend the holidays than by watching people in suits battle large rubber monsters, both in and out of robots. After all, it’s not really Christmas until you’ve beaten a monster to the edge of submission just to have them re-energize and become 100-stories tall. Perhaps that was the logic behind the Power Rangers Samurai Christmas DVD release Christmas Together, Friends Forever, which pulls Christmas episodes from three different chapters in Power Rangers history including Samurai, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and Power Rangers Zeo. Let’s be clear: none of these are exactly brilliant television, and all of them are corny at the after school special level, but if you’ve been following the Power Rangers series through its many iterations, it might just prove to be a nice little bit of holiday-themed nostalgia.

Million of twentysomethings cry out in joy as the original Power Rangers are finally coming home on DVD.
Nothing says the 1990s like the TV series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The nostalgia is likely to get a big boost when the orignal series finally hits DVD on August 21. The series will not only feature the first 30 episodes (out of 60 from the first season), but a bunch of extras straight out of the Saban vault. For millions of boys who fell in love with Amy Jo Johnson back in the day, this is welcome news. I'm sure arguments abound among fans as to which Power Ranger was the best, but remember this: Ultraman owns them all.
Here's the complete press release courtesy of Shout! Factory. Enjoy!
Following its debut in 1993, Saban’s iconic live-action pop culture series, Power Rangers quickly became the most watched children’s television program in North America.

I recently got a chance to attend The Lexington Comic and Toy Convention. During the Power Rangers Zeo reunion, Jason David Frank, also know as The Green Ranger, spoke a little bit about how he wanted a darker version of the "Power Rangers." At 26:01 I think Haim Saban is very silly not to take those Rangers that we were and make a Dark Knight series out of it for you guys. It would be nice if they did something like that, something a little bit more darkish; use those characters; take the White Ranger back, make it like Batman or something. Thats cool as long as you punch someone in the face I am sure if Fox still had rights to "Power Rangers" we would probably see something like this. Sound off below...
