Power Rangers Zeo review
renegadeviking-271-52856811 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The Plot: Tommy, Billy, Adam, Rocky, Kat and Tanya are turned back to their teenage forms thanks to the Zeo Crystal. The Command Center is gone but the crystal leads them to the new Power Chamber and all but Billy take on new Zeo powers

Pros: I the fighting techniques of the rangers, I enjoy the moments with bulk & skull were in this season they were cops, I like the fact that Billy took a different role in the show & some of the characters got more time to develop.

Cons: the Machine Empire were boring except for King Mondo who was ok for my liking, a lot of the photography were a bit dated & my god there's too many episodes.

Casts & Crews: Zeo Rangers Thomas "Tommy" Oliver He is Zeo Ranger V Red and was previously the Green Ranger and the White Ranger. He found his Zeo Crystal in the American Southwest. He is the leader of the Zeo Rangers. Tommy wears a red suit with a star-shaped visor on his helmet and is portrayed by Jason David Frank.

Adam Park He is Zeo Ranger IV Green and was previously the second Black Ranger. He found his Zeo Crystal in Korea. He was second-in-command until the return of Jason. Adam wears a green suit with a rectangular visor and is portrayed by Johnny Yong Bosch. Rocky DeSantos He is Zeo Ranger III Blue and was previously the second Red Ranger. He found his Zeo Crystal in Mexico. Rocky wore a blue suit with a triangular visor on his helmet and is portrayed by Steve Cardenas. Tanya Sloan She is Zeo Ranger II Yellow and the only new member of the core group. When Aisha, the former Yellow Ranger, went for her Zeo Crystal in Africa, she decided that she wanted to help the animals who were sick; she sent Tanya back with the Zeo Crystal in her place. Initially returning as a young teenager, the Zeo Crystal made Tanya the same age as the other Rangers, which she gradually got used to. Tanya wears a yellow suit with two horizontal lines for a visor on her helmet and is portrayed by Nakia Burrise. Katherine "Kat" Hillard She is Zeo Ranger I Pink and was previously the second Pink Ranger. She found her Zeo Crystal in her homeland of Australia. Kat wears a pink suit with a circular visor on her helmet and is portrayed by Catherine Sutherland. Trey of Triforia The original Gold Ranger and also the prince of planet Triforia, a place where everyone had identical triplets. He gave the Zeo Rangers their Super Zeozords when he had to return for his planet. Trey of Triforia wears a black suit with a golden vest and had a visor shaped like the kanji for "king". He is portrayed by Ted, Tim, and Tom DiFilippo and voiced by Brad Hawkins in his first appearances. Jason Lee Scott The second Gold Ranger and was previously the original Red Ranger. When Trey of Triforia had to return to his home planet, Tommy went and found Jason to take the place of the Gold Ranger while he was gone. Jason became second-in-command upon his return and is portrayed by Austin St. John.

Identity of the Gold Ranger:

During the middle of the series, the identity of the Gold Ranger was a constant teaser and a central plot theme. After many episodes of speculation, with other characters like Billy Cranston, David Trueheart, and even Eugene Skullovitch suspected, it was revealed the Gold Ranger was in fact Trey of Triforia, a new character. Former Red Ranger, Jason Lee Scott, obtained the powers of the Gold Ranger after Trey lost the ability to transform. Actor Brad Hawkins, who played Ryan Steele on VR Troopers, voiced the Gold Ranger early on. Saban had supposedly planned to use him after the end of VR Troopers as Ryan and put that series into the continuity of Power Rangers. However, for unknown reasons (believed to be scheduling conflicts), he was not used as the identity of the Gold Ranger, and instead Ted, Tim and Tom DiFilippo portrayed the three parts of Trey.

some gems, more duds

there are no spoilers here, yippee!

There are several great episodes and fine Arcs to this title. Most notable are the episodes dealing with aquitar, the gold ranger and Tommy's quest; these stand out. However, most episodes are, by comparison anyway, quite forgettable. Things just seem so over-the-top.

For example: there is no way on earth that you can actually take the Machine Empire seriously! They do not develop, they show no emotion and declare victory way too quickly. I was 8 years old and I was bored by them. but this is becoming a rant, back to the show.

I have recently re-visited the original, Zeo, Space and timeforce to the best of my ability. And I must say that while the afore-mentioned episodes are memorable, well-written, acted and all that good stuff, I could not sit through most of the others.

Note: I am not taking sides or pointing out mistakes with this next line; it simply clarifies a point "A season to remember" is sometimes considered the final episode, skip that one. "as good as gold" is otherwise considered the final episode. It is worth watching.

Learned from it's predecessor
Pyro_Pizza7 January 2021
Zeo takes the the best parts of MMPR and improves them, the Story becomes more adult and ages with the kids that started watching with MMPR. That being said it still has that classic Power Rangers cheesyness so it's not for anyone, for me Power Rangers is very much an acquired taste, but this is one of the best seasons of the series.

Zeo pretty much abandoned the original show's corny aspects and became something better. They got better special effects, sets and an awesome storyline. The cast was great and it was especially great when (surprisingly) Austin St. John returns as Jason to be the Gold Ranger. This show was one of the more creative ones in the Power Rangers series. Very good.

Refreshing
hazardmc8827 January 2007
Power rangers Zeo is a refreshing new beginning to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series which towards the end of its GREAT three year run started to become stale and boring with only minor changes every so often. When the command centre was destroyed at the end of season 3 fans like myself were both shocked and excited. with millions of fans wondering what would come of the power rangers without their powers, the era of Zeo began. With a new ranger and the power of the zeo crystal the power rangers evolved into the power rangers Zeo, with new costumes, new zords, new enemies in the machine empire and new allies. Now I'm not going to say this was an amazing series because it wasn't after all there is never anything like the original but it did give power rangers fans the excitement they once had. The acting in the series in my opinion is surprisingly better than the previous 3 and some of the stories are fantastic!

Ruined the mighty power rangers look
gaccoungt20 October 2023
I think power rangers zeo was right to move on with some new cast members as well giving the old rangers new colours but ruined the look with zeo suits they looked worse then the old ones especially after making a movie with the original suits that looked amazing they could of kept ninjeti ones as back up from the film too it was better when rangers in space came along saved the classic look of the power rangers then all that came after I thought just didn't look good at all. And when bringing back the original red ranger he should of been at least the white ranger in a steel suite would of made it fighting evil robot monsters cooler.

This was the best one

Warning: Spoilers
Zeo was hands down the best and most interesting Power rangers series to date.(I haven't watched pat Dino Thunder btw) Zeo had the best theme song, best outfits. They had the toughest villains. The Machine Empire kept Rita and Zedd on the run. Plus the Cogs were the only henchman of any series to put up a good fight against the rangers. The Zeo Zords didn't have my favorite design but i wont lie and say they weren't effective.

Zeo also had the best stories. Every episode wasn't just "happy go lucky and beat the bad guys" They'd put a good storyline in every so often.

The only bad thing was that Billy wasn't a ranger. That made no sense considering he's been there since the 1st episode. Jason (the original red ranger) however did return as the new Gold ranger. Why didn't they give that to Billy? Oh well. Best of all the cast was stable as opposed to changing every year.

Not as excellent as MMPR, but a great continuation to the series
I liked MMPR. The first two seasons were compelling, but the third season was much weaker when the episodes were lackluster, but not unwatchable. So, when I heard that they continued the show with Zeo rangers, I was virtually impressed after watching it and I officially liked it. Perhaps not as excellent as MMPR, but a great continuation to the series. Some of the episodes were weak, but the first few episodes showed the origins of the Zeo rangers perfectly. Some of the monsters are great, but only, shall I say, four of them got on my nerves with their annoying voices.

Flaws aside, everything else turned out excellent. The characters are as likable as ever especially in their ranger forms along with some great depth from them. Alpha from MMPR is pretty good with his catchy "Ai Ai Ai Ai Yi!" catchphrases which makes him pretty funny in this show too. The morphing sequences are excellent and have improved over the cheesy but tolerable morphing sequences in MMPR, I think. The villains, although not in the same depth as Lord Zedd, are at least decent, but the strongest aspect goes to the megazord fight sequences.

Overall, not as excellent as MMPR, but a great continuation that is always worth-watching for children and die-hard fans of power rangers.

Best of All of them
Derek-8625 July 2000
I can't speak for other people when I say this but I consider "Power Rangers Zeo" to be the best out of all the Power Ranger series. First of all the graphics were great (thought that Power Rangers in space graphics were better but thats another story) Also the sounds were better too. The beginning zords weren't as great as "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" but it got around later in the season. Also the series ended with a big movie. "Power Rangers Turbo: The movie" I consider this is the best series because of all these reasons or because it was the first sequel (spinoff) from the original and I was pretty excited about that.

Power Rangers Zeo
ZegMaarJus22 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A really great Season of the Power Rangers trilogy. This was Season 4 of the Power Rangers. The name of the Season was Power Rangers Zeo. Katherine, Tanya, Adam, Rocky, Adam and Tommy are back. The Power Rangers received their Zeo powers in the beginning of this Season. The Zeo Power Rangers have a new enemy this Season, his name is King Mondo. He is the boss of The Machine Empire, after Rita and Lord Zedd left he is the main villain during this Season. Later this Season Jason returns, this time he is The Gold Ranger. After a lot of fights he lost his powers.

Overall this is a Nice Season of the Power Rangers. Go Zeo!

Well its been awhile since I saw this show but from what I remember to me, it was ok...but not as good as the original.

To me, the originals <Jason, Zack, Billy, Kimberly and Trini> were the best...when 3 left, and the show went to Zeo it was ok.

When Jason was brought back I was honestly hoping for the return of Zack and Trini.

But to me Zeo was just not up to par with the original...

As for the future sequels Turbo and Space...I dont watch them...no point really.

Reasonably good (if somewhat overrated) followup to the three seasons of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers." Tight pacing, a well-written storyline, and decent acting all help move the story along; but the show is marred by extreme silliness at times and extreme seriousness. Despite all that, "Zeo" is quite entertaining if you don't expect much from it.

Followed by: "Power Rangers Turbo," "Power Rangers in Space," "Power Rangers Lost Galaxy," "Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue," "Power Rangers Time Force," "Power Rangers Wild Force," and "Power Rangers Ninja Storm."

One of the best seasons, but...
BlueWolf834 November 2003
I really wish Billy (David Yost) could have continued on as a Ranger. Although... while he was helping out in the Power Chamber, he did manage to save the other Ranger's tails numerous times. And it made me sick how they wrote him off the show. Other than that, great season!

Saban Picks up on the Super Sentai tradition but...
donmccullen-119 November 2002
Being with Power Rangers Zeo Saban joins Japanese counterpart Toei in tradition of changing the Power Rangers every year. Zeo more/less follow its counter part 'Super Task Force' regarding the shows villains The 'Machine Empire' and plot to have machines take over Earth. However it still does not quite follow the show and still is in a MMPR mode. However adapting to the Senati tradition beginning with Zeo is a great start. A few bumps in the road but Power Rangers is getting their.

The Zeo Rangers were Power Rangers at their best! True Power Rangers!
EarlRoberson30 November 2005
To me, the Zeo Rangers were Power Rangers at their best! I even liked their ranger suits and zords better than all the other Power Rangers. The Zeo Rangers had awesome zords interesting allies and unique robotic villains to battle. The show just wasn't long enough! I really wish this entire series was on DVD boxsets! In the U.S. The Zeo Rangers is the second set of Power Rangers, after the Mighty Morphin Rangers. Energy source for the Zeo Rangers was the zeo crystals. The Zeo Rangers command center was constructed (buried) under the Mighty Morphin Rangers command center. Villains of the Zeo Rangers were King Mundo with his family ( evil alien robots ) and palace along with their robot soldiers called Cogs. Allies were Auric the Conquer (automatic battle zord) and Trey (triplet morphing alien) the gold ranger who controlled a ship and zord, Pyramidas ...and provided the Zeo Rangers with the gold Zeo Power Coins which provided each ranger with their on super zeo zord to help them when things got rough. The rangers Super Zeo Zords combined to form the Super Zeo Megazord!

Great followup to a classic!

Warning: Spoilers
(SLIGHT SPOILERS!) The story: The sinister Master Vile has come and turned the Power Rangers into into little kids by use of the Orb of Doom. So now, they all had to find a piece of the Zeo Crystal to gain their powers! While they all find found their crystals, and got their real ages back, Aisha the yellow ranger, stayed in Africa when she got her crystal to take care of sick animals, and sent a girl named Tanya in her place as the new ranger. After they all got their crystals, they became new Zeo Rangers! Also, the Machine Empire takes over to try to defeat the rangers! Jason, the original red ranger, also comes back as the Gold Ranger for a little while.

This new series didn't also have a better storyline to it, but better special effects, cool costumes, and awesome villains!

Score: *****/*****

Was once good...
Vipex2312 May 2002
I was once a Power Rangers fanatic. I had all the toys and videos and went to see the movie 3 times. I watched from the beginning religiously. The show peaked at the end of season 1 and very slowly began to roll down the mountain after that. When Jason, Zach and Trini left the show it began to roll even faster. Rocky and Adam were not as good as the original Rangers, and Aisha was awful, but they sort of grew on me after a while, though I never liked them as much as the originals. When the Rangers got their "Ninja" powers the show was still OK, but definitely not as good or as interesting as it once was. Then all hell broke lose when the "Zeo" series first aired. I stopped watching after the first few episodes because I realized "This is boring." I didn't like the new uniforms, I didn't like the new villains and most of all, I downright hated the cast changes. That Australian Pink Ranger was downright horrible and couldn't hold a candle to Amy Jo Johnson. The new Yellow Ranger was awful also. Looking back, I'm glad to say I stopped watching at this point because, from what I hear, the show I once loved, drowned in the river after "Zeo."

The best Series out of them all
dieselh1210 June 2000
I liked the way the series was set up. I mean they got more serious and stopped doing some impossible things and made it more understandable.

After the Rangers lose the Powers of Ninja and the command center they gather the remains of the Zeo Crystals. So when the Command center is reformed into the Power Chamber and then Zordon returns. Making everything normal Again.

But a new villain has come. The Machine Empire. They try to do what Rita and Zedd could not. Destroy the Power Rangers.

The Rangers then use the Powers of the Zeo Crystals and become Power Rangers again

Tommy the Red Ranger. Adam the Green Ranger,Rocky the Blue Ranger.Catherine the Pink Ranger and Tonya the Yellow Ranger.

I say the series has got to be more high tec. Its too bad that when the series ended and then they kept on bringing us stupid series like Power Rangers Turbo and Power Rangers in Space.

Thats when I stopped watching it. After Zeo.

Anyways good series. The best of them all

Great stuff!
9800531428 June 2003
Now I haven't seen to many episodes but I noticed from the episodes that I watched that show really got more realistic than MMPR. MMPR was great, loved it, but it did get corny at times. Zeo has fewer corny scenes and great drama and even some angst (King for a Day). They eventually grew and we got Power Rangers in Space, one of the greatest series and the saddest finale.

But for people who say that the cast sucked, I just wanted to point out, NO ONE LEFT(except Aisha)!! So it was almost the same cast from the series before.

Anyways great stuff here! **** of *****

Good
TheMan30514 December 2002
Power Rangers Zeo is the follow-up to the original show, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. And Zeo was a good show that was entertaining but is NO WHERE near the excellence of the original. The reason why the original show was so good was because #1 We know the concept for the Power Rangers is silly and the show was light-hearted so the plots and action scenes worked cause it seemed kind of comical. #2 The cast was excellent.

Now Zeo is a serious program so that kind of hurts the show cause it makes it seem stupid. And the cast of Zeo is not that good. But the show itself is pretty entertaining and some of the episodes were AWESOME but it's no where near the excellence of the original show.

A little Side Note:

Jason, the original Red Ranger returning as the Gold Ranger was awesome:)and provided for some good episodes.

The action continues and is still top-notch.
Mattman-410 January 1999
Proving that once just isn't enough, the Power Rangers return in their second television series. The success of the original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" was enough to ensure that the saga would continue for quite some time. While this new series may not be up to the same level as the original, it is still a must-see for children and fans alike. KEEP ON MORPHIN!

Great series
spaceran1 January 1999
During the course of this series, Power Rangers began to mature. The stories began to get better and eventually we got the excellence of Power Rangers in Space. The Machine Empire were an interesting villain. The battles could have been longer. But this show was great!
