Don't get too excited, but there's a chance a Curb Your Enthusiasm movie could be on its way, with rumours currently focussing on a potential ninth series and a movie to go with it.
It comes via a circuitous route - a sports radio DJ knows a friend of Larry David who had dinner with him recently - but it seems reasonably legitimate (as far as these things go).
Jeff Schaffer says he had dinner this weekend w Larry David. A Curb Your Enthusiasm movie was discussed, as was an additional season #Cye

The last season of the much-loved sitcom came out in 2011, with the proviso with studio HBO being that David could come back for more episodes should he be "creatively motivated" to do so.
It seems he's so "creatively motivated" that he wants to go to the big screen, which makes you wonder: what...

This Friday, a brand new creature feature called Stung arrives in theaters and on VOD. The film co-stars the iconic Lance Henriksen as Mayor Caruthers, one of the unfortunate party-goers at a shindig that gets attacked by mutated killer wasps who leave shredded corpses in their wake. Daily Dead recently chatted with Henriksen about the new horror comedy from director Benni Diaz as well as his involvement in several other upcoming projects, including Harbinger Down, and whether or not he’d be up for more Millennium if all goes well with the upcoming revival of Chris Carter’s other popular series, The X-Files.
This movie is a ton of fun—I grew up on a lot of creature features, mostly due to Elvira and her show, and I thought Stung was a great blend of old-school creature campiness with this sort of new-school twist to it.

Is there anybody who benefited from American Idol's initially stratospheric success more than Ryan Seacrest?
Fox announced Monday that it has canceled the series that put the network on the map and launched a legion of reality competition imitators. Set to air the 14th season finale on Wednesday, American Idol execs plan to send the show's 15th and final season out with a bang, telling reporters Monday that it will be a "season-long celebration."
"American Idol has been a big part of my life for so long, it's frankly hard to imagine it without it," said Seacrest, 40, in a statement released to People.

Call the Midwife ended the third season by putting itself in a very tricky position, although it at least managed to get people very interested in how things were going to continue.
The last season ends with Jenny getting a new perspective on life when Chummy’s mother dies, and the result is that Jenny decides to leave Nonnatus House. There’s something both fantastic, and completely insane, about the move, especially considering that it’s supposed to be her story, and it’s her voice-over walking us through everything. It actually becomes a little unnerving to continue listening to Vanessa Redgrave talking about what’s going on as the fourth season plays out.
You have to expect big things to kick off the season, which is hard to put into perspective, because the show is nothing if not subdued in its overall progression.

By now you’ve heard the news that NBC is essentially trying to “pump and dump” the final season of Parks and Recreation. The last season already is facing a shortened run, as many predicated it wouldn’t be renewed at all (even the show itself, given how it ended), but now even that isn’t short enough for NBC, who will now be airing all the episodes in a month and a half between 1/13/15 and 2/24/15. The plan is to show them back to back on Tuesday nights until every episode has been released. Everyone seems to think that this is yet another time that NBC is peeing in the face of a great show and its fans, as it’s “not giving it the respect it deserves” with a short season and now an effort to essentially “get it over with” as fast as humanly possible. But I really don’t see…...

Fans of Simon Baker will be glad and sad over CBS’ latest news. The Mentalist will return for season 7, but it will also be their last one. The last season will be shorter as it premiers on November 30th with it ending in February. They will also switch out the days it will air mid season, from Sunday to Wednesday. No word on why they will be making the switch, but it appears Patrick and his skills have failed some.
I am sad over this new. I have always loved Simon and his skills, which I was enjoying yet again on TV. However, it seems almost like CBS just wants to keep him from running on a series for at least 10 seasons. It has been a good run, but I think he and his fans deserve more than just what CBS threw at his loyal fans of at least 6 seasons.

The last season premiere ever of “Parenthood” (are we crying yet?) opens on a jump from last season. We see Aida walking, Julia (Erika Christensen) with a new beau (or maybe just a good old fashioned Fwb?), the charter school that Kristina (Monica Potter) started is almost done, Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) and Camille (Bonnie Bedelia) are settling in to their new home, Sarah (Lauren Graham) and Hank (Ray Romano) are together, but, more importantly, Amber (Mae Whitman) is indeed pregnant. After a talk with Hank about his daughter coming back to live in Berkeley and not being exactly forthcoming [...]

The last season of America's Next Top Model was the first to mix men and women in the competition. The ratings for season 20 were slightly lower than season 19's however they had been dropping at a much greater rate in previous years. Could the ratings rise this year or will they fall even lower? Will Antm be cancelled or renewed for a 22nd cycle? Stay tuned?

The return to Boardwalk Empire sees Nucky looking back while others look to the future. Here's Michael's review...
This review contains spoilers
5.1 Golden Days for Boys and Girls
The last season of Boardwalk Empire, the one we now know to be its penultimate, was probably its strongest. A superb show from the outset, the season nevertheless saw a firm confidence in its characters and its storytelling that allowed it to handle multiple themes and chart several destinies with subtle skill. While a joy to observe, it meant that the disappointment in finding out that the fifth season would be the last was felt more severely than it perhaps would have been a couple of years ago. To a significant extent, Boardwalk Empire had only just got going.
With a firm hand at the tiller, it could easily have seen out the 1920s over three or four additional seasons. Following Prohibition...

"Boardwalk Empire" will be taking its final journey along the coast of New Jersey this fall, and it's going to bring some big changes with it. The last season of the period drama will apparently jump the timeline forward to the early '30s, just as prohibition is about to end. The last season of The Legend of Korra ended with Korra defeating the spirit of chaos and darkness and restoring balance to the world. How do you top that?
Well, plenty, as we can see in the new trailer for Book 3: Changes (the series refers to its seasons as “books”). At this point in the story, Korra’s lost the link between her past Avatar lives and left open the bridge between the human world and the spirit world, so there’s plenty of room for new narrative material. Now that the bridge is open, people and ghostly, creature-like spirits coexist.

Like Lone Survivor, this movie is the story of a tale of courage and sacrifice and a man’s unwavering love for his family, his fellow Seal members, and his country. Have to say I don’t think there can be too many powerful movies that remind us of...

Fans of Courtney Cox will be sad and happy to hear Cougar Town for a 6th and final season. The show has a strange history with TBS, where it had been canceled and then picked up again. This is the third time it happened and most likely will be the last time for that. The last season will be a short one with just 13 episodes. No word on what it will premier or be filmed.
Poor Courtney, she is the only former Friends cast member who had lasting success on TV again. This has to be hard for her since it isn’t going as long as her previous show did and most of all, because it has been canceled three times. Maybe she will finally be at peace with it now that they do have a firm finale planned. That should make her life easier and be a much...

Carlton Cuse reopens the debate about the finale of Lost, as he discusses why he and Damon Lindelof went the way they did...
Spoilers for the Lost ending lie ahead.
Many years after it aired, the debate continues to rage about the final episode of Lost. And chatting to Entertainment Weekly, the man who co-wrote The End - Carlton Cuse - has been chatting about that last episode.
Cuse penned it with Damon Lindelof, his co-showrunner on Lost, and he affirms that the ending was actually planned from the start. "There was this grand plan that we had - the idea that the show would start with Jack’s eye opening and it would end with Jack’s eyes closing, which meant that Jack had to die", Cuse said. "That was right in the DNA from the very beginning, he added. "The finale is like a hedge.

I'm probably not the best person to be reporting this since I never got into the vampire series, but HBO has released the first trailer for the seventh and finale of True Blood. The last season ended with a group of infected vampires heading to a party, and it appears they did make it, which I assume isn't good news for Anna Paquin's Sookie. The trailer also teases an attack at a church, and in general, bad things to come for the town of Bon Temps in the finale season....

By the time Mad Men ends next year – the final season, which debuts on Sunday April 13th on AMC, will be split into two Breaking Bad-style runs – there will have been 92 episodes of unmatched TV, covering the entirety of the 1960s. Though the series has focused on an advertising agency and the people who work there, according to Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, the show has always been more about the lessons of that era, from the British Invasion through the crashing of the counterculture wave with the election of Richard Nixon.

Entertainment Geekly is a weekly column that examines pop culture through a geek lens and simultaneously examines contemporary geek culture through a pop lens. So many lenses! (Note: This post contains copious plot information about 24. I’m assuming you’ve either seen 24 or you’ve made peace with the fact that you’ll never watch it. But if you start watching now and don’t take any breaks, you have just enough time to watch the best years of 24 before it disappears from Netflix.)

Girls music supervisor Manish Raval recently said that the series' third season will highlight new music by a variety of artists, some of whom wrote music specifically for the show. "It's the same sound, same vibe, but one thing that's different this season is we've had the luxury of getting people to contribute brand new songs for us," he told Radio.com. "We had Miguel write us a new song." The series also picked up previously unreleased songs by Beck, Lily Allen, Jenny Lewis and Christina Perri.

So Futurama is gone. Cancelled again. Kaput. And frankly I’m quite glad. The last season was underwhelming and clunky, like the writers and illustrators were merely going through the motions of making a quirky sci-fi animation. Where were all the memorable jokes, the scenes I can quote off the top of my head, the stories I genuinely wanted to see? The problem for me stretches back to the run of ‘films’, and I really want to just accept that Futurama ended back at its first cancellation. That’s what made that one Simpsons joke funny.
“Why did they have to cancel Futuramaaa?!” Perhaps also the one Simpsons joke that I laughed at in the past 12 or 13 years. Only the re-runs of seasons 1 through 8 keep me laughing non-stop. Well, not so much seasons 1 and 2. But I don’t want to start a tirade against the Simpsons either. That’s already been done on here somewhere.

"Mad Men" fans: Get ready to be simultaneously sad, happy and frustrated. The sad first: AMC confirmed on Tuesday (September 17) that the upcoming seventh season will be the last for the Emmy-winning "Mad Men." This had been widely assumed, of course, but it hadn't necessarily been spoken out loud by the network. The happy news next: AMC has ordered an extra episode of "Mad Men" for the final season, expanding the series to 14 episodes for its home stretch. And, finally, the frustrating news: The last season of "Mad Men" will be split into two parts, with...

As suspected months ago, USA has decided to end Burn Notice after seven seasons on the air. The last season, which debuts on June 6th, will have 13 episodes.
Burn Notice has been a staple of USA's line-up since 2007 and, by the end of the series, will have completed more than 100 episodes. The cast includes Jeffery Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell, Sharon Gless and Coby Bell.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Burn Notice is ending? What would you like to see happen before the series finishes?

Mad Men starts its sixth season this weekend. I won’t be able to see it because I’m out of the country, but my cat sitter has strict instructions to set the DVR, so I expect to be up to speed anon. I am psyched. The last season ended in 1967. I’m not sure whether this new season will pick up immediately after the last one left off, or if it will jump forward a year or two. In any case, the late 1960s were a time when any average Tuesday had more drama and conflict and human interest than all of the 1980s combined. The advertising for this new season, at least as seen in the posters in the subway, hint at some of the challenges we can expect to see. Buttoned-up Don Draper versus a chaotic world. To me, it looks like a Vertigo cover, circa 1998. Which brings me around to comics,...

The last season of "Louie" included a brilliant three-episode arc entitled "Late Night" that found the titular hero, played by the show's creator, writer and producer Louis C.K., being brought in to potentially take over for David Letterman as the host of "Late Show." Letterman, he's told, is retiring, and Louie is the cheap option being groomed as an alternative to the more likely big-name pick of Jerry Seinfeld. The process of auditioning challenged Louie, wrung him out, taught him lessons about himself and competition and what he wants from his career. (It also involved very funny appearances from Garry Marshall and David Lynch as two of the execs prepping Louie for the role, as well as Jay Leno, Chris Rock and Seinfeld as themselves.) But in the end, Letterman didn't retire, and Louie found out he was just being used to bargain the host down on his contract renewal.

There’s been a lot of doom and gloom in the Geek Girl columns of late. I blame some of that on winter TV. Networks seem to run shows that are darker and more depressing during the winter. This isn’t to say that I couldn’t find some happier fare if I just set my mind to looking for it, but so much of it seems so inane that I end up losing interest pretty easily.
One of the things that I do seem to end up watching frequently are cop shows and procedural dramas. That’s no surprise, given the columns about “Castle” and “Elementary” earlier. It’s not a preference that I trouble myself over too much. I’ve also established that I am a fan of the genre blender. Mash-ups, especially those that seem unlikely but still manage to work have a way of drawing me in like nothing else.
