It’s about time! Thirteen years have gone by since the release of Final Destination 5, but we’ve been hearing rumblings that another sequel was on the way for years. A while back, Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, came on board to produce the sixth film in the Final Destination franchise alongside Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Craig Perry. Back in September of 2022, we learned that the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie, would be directing Final Destination 6. Last October, it was revealed that the film will be called Final Destination: Bloodlines… and now cinematographer Christian Sebaldt has shared an image that indicates Final Destination: Bloodlines will be heading into production soon! (If it hasn’t already.

A new reissue will provide a deeper look at the late Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland’s first solo album, 12 Bar Blues, with a handful of previously unreleased demos, remixes, and alternate versions of songs. The first bonus track to be released is a demo of “Barbarella,” the album’s lead single, which features a loose, acoustic-leaning arrangement and a few scratch lyrics (the Lost in Space line at the end comes out different.) The song, which shows Weiland’s obsession with Bowie-like sounds circa Hunky Dory,...

Two of my favorite people will once again be teaming up, Stephen King will be making a rare appearance on writer/director Mick Garris’s podcast Post Mortem. It seems like everybody has a podcast nowadays. Even I have a podcast called Coffee and Conspiracy. Podcasting can be a positive thing for many reasons. One of those reasons being that if you are a fan of something, you can get an insight into the creative mind of the creator.
I first saw the name Mick Garris in a book of short stories called Splatter Punks. Garris’s short story “ A Life in the Cinema”, was one of my favorites. Garris went onto creating, the Maters of Horror, an anthology series bringing all your favorite horror writers and directors together to deliver one- hour stories to terrify your soul. I wrote a story and a script for the show. Just because...

“I drink a lot of Tito’s,” Miranda Lambert said early during her performance at the Cma Theatre on Wednesday night, jokingly justifying her use of what she called a “Trapper Keeper” with lyrics set up on a music stand in front of her. But even without her favorite spirit in a Yeti tumbler easily within reach, Lambert couldn’t be blamed for using a lyric sheet — the set list for the first of two concerts she’ll give in the venue as the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum...

THR is reporting that another one of Stephen King’s short stories has been optioned for a film. This story is called "Bad Little Kid," and it was released on March 14th as an e-story in Germany and France.
According to the report, "the supernatural tale centers on a man whose life changes forever when he realizes that a mysterious boy is causing the deaths of people he loves."
There is no release date for this film yet, but it will be directed and produced by Laurent Bouzereau.
King is my all-time favorite writer. I have read most of his books, and a lot I've read multiple times. I always get excited to see that one of his stories is being brought to the big screen. I haven’t had a chance to read this one yet, but I plan on fixing that soon.

The world of Stephen King publishing, which is always a weird and exciting place, has recently gotten even stranger. Starting next month, Stephen King’s popular 2009 novel, Under the Dome, will finally be released in mass-market paperback. Actually, make that paperbacks, plural – the book is divided in half; part one comes on February 25th, and part 2 arrives March 25th. Questions arise: why now? Why did it take so long? And is this just a cynical cash grab to capitalize on the overwhelming success of the miniseries? All fair questions, but the answers might be a little more surprising and complex than you’d think.
Publishing as a whole is different than it was even ten years ago. While the business of print publishing hasn’t fallen into fiery ruins as some predicted when King’s “Riding the Bullet” was the first eBook bestseller, digital titles have absolutely impacted sales of traditional books.

With 2013 almost behind us, it’s time to start looking forward to the future. By this time last year, Stephen King had announced two new novels for 2013 – Joyland and Doctor Sleep – but we ended up with so much more: The Dark Man, Hard Listening, “Afterlife,” “Summer Thunder,” plus surprises like an unfinished manuscript surfacing and King’s earliest fiction sale, “The Glass Floor,” being reprinted by Cemetery Dance. What’s in store for 2014? We’re in the same position we were in last year: two new books announced, and not much more. Still, 2014 looks to be unique in every sense of the word: for the first time since 2011, we have a year without any sequels. However readers felt about The Wind Through the Keyhole or Doctor Sleep, there’s something exciting about going into two new Stephen King novels completely blind. Well, maybe not completely. What do we know about these novels?...

There can be few authors whose work has been adapted as often, and arguably as successfully, as Stephen King. Be it on the big or the small screen, a large proportion of King’s sizable back catalogue of novels, short stories and novellas have been filmed, with one of the most recent being Bag of Bones.
King’s 1998 novel about an author suffering severe mental block following the death of his wife, was adapted for television by director Mick Garris (who previously also helmed a TV adaptation of King’s Desperation) and boasted an impressive cast including Pierce Brosnan and Melissa George.
Bag of Bones is out now on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, and to coincide with the release we’ve decided to delve into Stephen King’s bibliography and pick out some of his key texts that, for one reason or another, have never been filmed for...

Happy anniversary, "Stacy's Mom"! It's been ten years Monday since Fountains of Wayne released their third album, "Welcome Interstate Managers," memorable mostly for that hit single and the video featuring a partially dressed Rachel Hunter as the mom — and a boy who takes a private moment in the bathroom, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" style, to appreciate her.

Why do almost all Stephen King adaptations end up looking like the worst thing ever?
With an adaptation of King’s ace gargantuan book Under the Dome dropping from CBS, I figured it would be time for a little analysis on his work and why there always seems to be a roughshod translation between word and picture. And is there a more hotly debated body of work? This thought popped into my head as I began reading what may be his best work ever, The Stand. That book is a strongly plotted take on how the world ends, the thing of it is, the virus cultivated by the military gets all of the business going, it kicks it all into high gear, but the real reason the world stops is because of the human need to grow violence throughout the land. See, I read the uncut version,...

How seriously do you think I take Halloween? Well, I’m fairly frickin’ anal retentive anyway, so I need to book my viewing in advance. I mean I’ll deviate from my itinerary, but I at least need a plan. I can’t be the only one out there with a stick up his ass. So this October/Halloween Season I figured we needed a little guidance. Stephen King was a big part of horror television in the 90’s. Networks weren’t really pushing the limits of TV at the time, so Stephen King-based miniseries always stood out as something special. With bigger budgets and usually a movie actor or two, Stephen King miniseries were huge TV events.
There have been a dozen or so Stephen King-related TV projects, and director Mick Garris has been involved in a number of them, having directed The Stand, The Shining, Desperation, and his most recent project, Bag of Bones.
Unfortunately for Bag of Bones, the TV landscape has changed quite a bit and a TV miniseries doesn’t have the same impact it used to. When TV shows on basic cable have movie-like budgets, talented actors, and quality special effects, how does a miniseries stand out? In the case of Bag of Bones, they hired Pierce Brosnan to...

On Sunday, December 11th, A&E is set to debut director Mick Garris' latest endeavor, the television mini-series adaptation of Stephen King's classic novel Bag of Bones, which explores the themes of grief and lost love's enduring bonds, an innocent child caught in a terrible crossfire, and a new love haunted by past secrets.
In the story we meet bestselling novelist Mike Noonan (Pierce Brosnan), who is unable to stop grieving after the sudden death of his wife, Jo (Annabeth Gish). A dream inspires him to return to the couple's lakeside retreat in western Maine, where he becomes involved in a custody battle between the daughter of an attractive young widow and the child's enormously wealthy grandfather while also deailing with mysterious ghostly visitations, ever-escalating nightmares, and the realization that his late wife still has something to tell him.

On December 11th and 12th, A&E will air a four-hour miniseries based on Stephen King's 1998 novel, Bag of Bones. The movie is directed by Mick Garris, who is no stranger to adapting King's work. He previously directed Sleepwalkers (1992), The Stand (1994), The Shining (1997), "Chattery Teeth" in Quicksilver Highway (1997), Riding the Bullet (2004), and Desperation (2006). Bag of Bones stars Pierce Brosnan in his first television appearance in over 15 years. Annabeth Gish and Melissa George co-star. Mystical doorways have been a recurring element in Stephen King's fiction from the beginning. "I Am the Doorway," published in Cavalier in 1971, is about a former astronaut who becomes a doorway for an alien presence. The painting Rosie McClendon buys in Rose Madder is a portal to another reality, and the Black House sits at the juncture between two worlds. The trunk of the Buick 8 is a gateway to another place, the miners in Desperation, Nevada accidentally breech a wall that separates our world from another and the scientists at the Arrowhead project may have caused another such rupture in "The Mist." How could the Colorado Kid have made it from Denver to Maine without using a magic door? Most notably,...

According to Deadline, Showtime has put a series adaptation of Stephen King's 2009 novel Under the Dome into development. Joining King in the development process is Steven Spielberg, who will have a hand this season in producing promising newcomers Smash, The River, and Terra Nova. Spielberg also produced TNT's Falling Skies, which was renewed for a second season earlier this summer.
It'll be a pretty sprawling project for Showtime, as Under the Dome tells the story of a small Maine town that's thrown into turmoil once a force field surrounds their community and cuts them off from the outside world, but it'll be one I'd be interested to see play out. There's no mention of what role King would play in the production of the show or if he would be writing any episodes, but King was in talks to write an episode of The Walking Dead as early as...

Last month we brought you the first word on the upcoming Argentinian cinéma-vérité zombie flick Incidente. And though we had stills, a trailer, and many bits of artwork, details were still very much on the scant side of the fence. Until now.
According to director Mariano Cattaneo Incidente was inspired by the likes of [Rec], Lamberto Bava's Demons, The Blair Witch Project, and even Stephen King’s novel Desperation.
"Incidente does not have infected people, nor zombies. It's home to demons who use the humans like clothes," says Catteneo in an interview on his blog.
Undead Backbrain scored the plot crunch, which you can dig on below.
Synopsis
A Special Division police member finds videotape in the form of an unfinished documentary featuring material of a very dark and strange nature.
Years ago in the Nacan’s Factory, an employee killed 16 workers and finally himself. Investigating police could find no logical explanation for the events,...

Argentinian writer/director Mariano Cattaneo lists Demons by Lamberto Bava, and Stephen King’s "Desperation" as primary influences for Incidente, a zombie horror film that looks to be in the vein of Spain's [Rec] and its Hollywood counter part, Quarantine.
Doesn't look quite as well done or intense as [Rec], but hey it's demon zombies running around a old building that's the scene of a crime.
Official trailer (via: Undead Backbrain) after the break.
Embedded video stripped, see full HTML version.

For most fans of the horror genre, Mick Garris (shown here at last month’s FM Con in Indianapolis) is perhaps best known as being Stephen King’s preferred darling director. Since 1992’s Sleepwalkers, Garris has adapted The Stand, The Shining, and Desperation for television, as well as a theatrical production of the novella Riding the Bullet. In addition, Garris is slated to direct the film adaptation of King’s superb supernatural mystery Bag of Bones.
What some might not be aware of, however, is that Garris has recurrently dipped his toes into the volatile world of dark fiction. His collected works of short stories, Life in the Cinema, as well as his full-length novel, Development Hell, are the result of a life inspired by the fantastic. “I was a serious reader from my earliest years,” he explains. “I always loved books and movies about the darker side.

While attending the Never Sleep Again signing event held this weekend at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, Dread Central had the opportunity to speak with Master of Horror Mick Garris, who caught us up on what he’ll be doing next.
Turns out Garris will be directing a four-hour miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s Bag of Bones, which fans will be able to check out on network television sometime in 2011. The story centers around a writer who is haunted by the untimely death of his pregnant wife and returns to his summer home to face his fears, only to find out that his return may have not been what he needed to put his past to rest.
"Bag of Bones is something we tried to do as a feature for two or three years," Garris tells us, "but the way features are now, if it's not about teenagers or a sequel or a remake,...

Stephen King’s haunted vacation house novel “Bag Of Bones” will soon land in mini series form from Mick Garris, writer/director of the previous King television films The Shining, The Stand and Desperation. Mick has been working on Bag for some time now with screenwriter Matt Venne. The deal is almost complete, according to the creepy kids at Shock Til You Drop and a channel to tune into will be announced shortly. “Bag Of Bones” is a pretty good old school ghost story about summer homes, rich locals and nasty pissed off spooks. You’ll want to watch it.

ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that Stephen King's 1998 novel "Bag of Bones" is no longer headed to the big screen, but instead will be adapted for television by Mick Garris, director of TV adaptations of King's "The Shining," "The Stand" and "Desperation," and screenwriter Matt Venne. "We're finalizing our deal," Garris told the site, "and will hopefully be shooting late-spring, early-summer." Where "Bag of Bones" TV mini-series will reside on the small screen is to be announced shortly. In the book, novelist Mike Noonan still suffers writers block several years after his wife's death. A dream inspires him to return to the couple's summer retreat in western Maine, a lakeside house called Sara Laughs....

There hasn’t been a serial horror story in quite some time. Probably John Saul’s Blackstone Chronicles is the most recent. But there is a new kid on the block now, Rick Florino’s Dolor, and this ain’t your mama’s serial horror.
Set in the mysterious town of Dolor, the ten-part series will unfold slowly, introducing the reader to Dolor’s various denizens as well as the town itself. Because from the beginning, with "Lila", the reader knows something has gone terribly wrong in Dolor; and as the ten diaries are read by an FBI agent investigating what happened in Dolor, the reader will also discover what happened and who (or what) might be responsible.
Dread Central recently had an opportunity to chat with the creator of Dolor: Lila (review here) and discovered that Rick Florino is something of an enfant terrible and an author people should take note of.

Correction: Garris wrote in to us to clarify that the show's episodes will run a half hour on FearNet's cable incarnation, while the webisodes will run five minutes. Filmmaker Mick Garris is returning to his roots: Interviewing fellow genre professionals. Before directing several Stephen King adaptions such as The Stand , The Shining and Desperation or creating the Showtime hit series Masters Of Horror , Garris hosted the local L.A. movie series The Fantasy Film Festival , which boasted a bevy of in-depth chats with directors such as David Cronenberg, John Landis and William Friedkin. Variety reports that Garris will now host Post Mortem With Mick Garris for FearNet, the site that most recently premiered the original web-series Fear Clinic in October. Already...
