hilarious.entertaining.failure

this movie is undoubtedly hilarious. i just cannot believe why critics reviewed it as a failure. I mean, Peter Timar is probably the most creative director in Hungary, his ideas are fantastic, he has a great sense of humor, we could already notice in the movie Csinibaba.

Judit Pogany and Gabor Reviczky are great in the leading roles, but its Natalia Nagy and Miklos Galla who steal the show with their unbelievable comedic performance ( no wonder they were once members of the same comedic team, called L art pour L art) . Natalia shines, a wonderful comedienne, playing the ultra/modern, sporty, fashion/fanatic. Mikos Galla is just exceptional in the role of the detective. The other part of the cast also does its job well. I laughed so many times....

If somebody wants good fun...please do not miss this movie.

The worst Hungarian parody ever
sycul19 October 2006
This film is supposed to be a comedy/parody placed in the post-communist Hungary, soon after the fall of communism, when people desperately wanted to get rich easily and quickly. The easiest way to accomplish this mission is to lamb down the German tourists who visit Balaton, the Hungarian "sea" - thinks Feri, the movie's central character played very well by Gábor Reviczky.

The problem is not with the actors. The cast is exceptionally good and all the actors perform very well, they really do their best. The problem is with the script and directing. I wonder how Péter Tímár could write and direct such a bad movie. What kept him motivated to finish this project? Maybe I just can't buy his humor. Even worse, it made me suffer.

Sorry guys, but I just can't score this film higher that 1. :(

Its one of the best , funniest film in the hungarian film-history! Such jokes, you wont believe it!! The actors are really great, but they are always great! József Szarvas is perfect, like always. Its really true that he is one of the best actors in Hungary. He plays perfect in the theater and in the films also. Gábor Reviczky is just the same! The dialogs and the situations are really great, it shows an excellent work of the director and the crew. The film has a little burlesque-feeling, its really amazing! I watched it a hundred times, but i never get bored, because is so lovely and funny! I recommend it for everybody who want to have a really good day!

What a Joke (But Not Funny)!
kisfermi31 July 2011
The other day this movie became a topic of discussion between my buddies and I, so out of curiosity I checked in with IMDb so see the viewer rating and comments, and got completely appalled by the high score and raving reviews this movie received! Not trying to be overly harsh here, but this movie would barely pass as a summer vacation project of 8th graders! The story, the overall sense of humor and the individual jokes are so poor that they're not even worth ranting about; I got about two anemic chuckles throughout the entire movie. I believe the "burlesque-feeling" in one of the previous reviews is trying to refer to the cinematography, which was more of a video clip knock-off than real burlesque - in the memory of Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd, let's try not using this word in this case...! I'm still puzzled by how this magnificent cast ended up getting suckered into this nonsense. In a totally ironic way, this movie did become a good historic account of the "try to get rich with sub-par effort" attitude of post-socialist Hungary - through its own self!

In summery, the only thing I liked about this movie was the sound track. By not measuring up even to "Baby Geniuses", I'm giving this movie a 1.5/10 (rounded up to in the vote pulldown). If you enjoy humorous and bizarre, but want to see a quality movie, go watch "Kontroll".
