Down on the Farm, Up in the Air

Pooch the Pup is hoboing out in the country where he meets a milkmaid, sings a song and gets caught in a tornado in this okay entry in the Lantz series.

Pooch starred in thirteen cartoons for Walter Lantz and while they ranged from okay up to excellent, there was usually no sign of a character for Pooch, nor much in the way of story; that was compensated for by a kitchen sink attitude towards gags. In this one, there are signs of a plot; at least, different sorts of situations grow out of earlier ones and the gags are usually appropriate to those sequences. However, Pooch continued to have no set character. With no set character, you can't have a star and so Lantz would give up on Pooch.
