It’s about time! Thirteen years have gone by since the release of Final Destination 5, but we’ve been hearing rumblings that another sequel was on the way for years. A while back, Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, came on board to produce the sixth film in the Final Destination franchise alongside Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Craig Perry. Back in September of 2022, we learned that the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie, would be directing Final Destination 6. Last October, it was revealed that the film will be called Final Destination: Bloodlines… and now cinematographer Christian Sebaldt has shared an image that indicates Final Destination: Bloodlines will be heading into production soon! (If it hasn’t already.

Netflix’s new Addams Family adaptation Wednesday has set an unlikely milestone on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series stars Jenna Ortega (X) as Wednesday Addams, based on the character first created by cartoonist Charles Addams.
Wednesday is the latest in a long line of Addams Family adaptations, which has included multiple TV series, a live-action film franchise, and two recent animated films.
Alongside Ortega, Luiz Guzmán plays Gomez Addams and Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Morticia. Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in the 1990s film adaptations, also features as one of Wednesday’s teachers.
The series has received mixed reviews, with The Independent’s Nick Hilton describing it as “rather lacking in quality” in a two-star write-up.
“From writing that sounds like it’s been reverse engineered through Google Translate to a deeply confusing central mystery, the world that series creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have built is gossamer thin,” he wrote.

At long last, “Wednesday,” which stars Jenna Ortega of “X” and “Scream” fame, is streaming on Netflix. Ortega takes over the role from iconic ’90s Wednesday Christina Ricci, who so memorably burned down a Thanksgiving play in “Addams Family Values.”
Ricci appears as a different character in the series from Tim Burton and “Smallville” co-creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, while Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman take over as Morticia and Gomez Addams.
Here’s where to rewatch the ’90s films that starred Anjelica Huston, Raúl Julia and Christopher Lloyd, and the two recent animated films. And, if you insist on seeking it out, the notorious direct-to-dvd “Addams Family Reunion,” starring Tim Curry and Daryl Hannah.

Wednesday Addams returns to the screen for the first live-action adaptation since the 1998 straight-to-video feature "Addams Family Reunion." In very capable hands, "Wednesday" arrives with raven's wings on Netflix and sees cinematic visionary Tim Burton returning to the director's chair. With a body of work that includes "Beetlejuice," "Edward Scissorhands," and "Corpse Bride," Burton has the pedigree to tackle the beloved franchise. Cartoonist Charles Addams' creepy clan first appeared in the pages of The New Yorker in 1938. Over the next several decades, 149 more panels appeared that led to a sitcom in the 1960s, a 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series, two outstanding '90s feature films, a 1992 animated series, another live-action series in 1999, and an animated theatrical reboot in 2019. You could say Burton had his work cut out for him.
Somehow the popularity of the Addamses has never waned. Audiences flock to this creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky family like maggots...

The minute you see the words “The Addams Family,” no doubt you snap your fingers twice.. The Addams clan has seen several incarnations since debuting as a series of The New Yorker cartoons penned by Charles Addams in 1938. The cartoons and the various films and television shows that rose in their wake perfectly blend the humorous and the macabre while focusing on the tight-knit family of Gomez, Morticia, their children Pugsley and Wednesday, and Uncle Fester.
The latest iteration is Tim Burton’s series “Wednesday,” set to debut on Netflix on November 23. The series centers on a teenage Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) trying to solve many mysteries, one being how to cement her identity outside the shadow of her ever-glamorous mother, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Wednesday is also tasked with harnessing her budding psychic ability to solve a serial killer case at Nevermore Academy and cracking a murder mystery that involved her parents 25 years ago.

The Addams Family's history began in 1938 when cartoonist Charles Addams first drew the eccentric (and then-nameless) characters in a series of cartoons for The New Yorker. In the 1960s, "The Addams Family" television show cemented the iconic characters' influence on pop culture. Whether or not they directly inspired their competitors like "The Munsters," the titular family and their ooky-spooky-kooky theme song have been inescapable ever since. There have been two live-action shows in the '60s and the '90s, two animated series in the '70s and the '90s, board games, and video games. In fall 2022, Netflix will debut a Wednesday Addams series.
But let's not forget the films! Decades after the family first debuted, director Barry Sonnenfeld finally brought them to the big screen in 1991's "The Addams Family," starring Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, and Christina Ricci. Sequels followed in 1993 and 1998, with the latter film serving...

Jerry Messing, best known for playing Gordon Crisp on “Freaks and Geeks” and the viral “fedora guy” meme, says he has been partially paralyzed after a serious battle with Covid-19.
The actor told TMZ that the 35-year-old Tampa resident was hospitalized in August and placed on a ventilator, but is now out of the intensive care and breathing on his own, without a fever or cough, and has tested negative for Covid. That said, he is still in the hospital, and has minimal use of his arms and legs.
According to Messing, he is unable to stand and walk on his own, and is going through physical therapy, using a machine to help get his legs working again. He is staying positive, telling TMZ “things are looking up,” and thanking fans for all the support they’ve given him.

It’s official: Netflix has landed Tim Burton’s live-action Addams Family series with an eight-episode order for a spinoff focused on the iconic character of Wednesday Addams.
Titled Wednesday, the coming-of-age comedy, written by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar and to be directed by Burton, is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. That’s where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.
The YA series, Wednesday Addams’ first solo vehicle, marks Burton’s first live-action show and his TV directing debut. He and Gough and Millar, who will serve as showrunners on the series, executive produce. Wednesday is produced by MGM/UA Television, which controls the underlying rights to the IP.

The animated revival of classic TV series The Addams Family is getting a sequel immediately after its profitable holiday weekend debut.
The Addams Family 2 is already set for more kooky, spooky and most likely ooky animated hijinks on the big screen, with the revival film coming off a successful Columbus Day weekend take at the box office. Moreover, the quickly-ordered sequel movie is already set to arrive in the Halloween season of 2021!
While the October 11 release of The Addams Family bowed just below the second week dominance of DC/Warner's buzz-heavy Joker, its holiday weekend opening nevertheless earned a 4-day total of $35 million; an immediately auspicious number for the $40 million-budgeted animated feature. Consequently, the studio collective of MGM and Uar didn’t need to take too much time in planning the sequel, with Deadline reporting on the early order, which also comes with a specific release date.

Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, and Grandmama are back and ready for the big screen once again in the first trailer for MGM’s “The Addams Family.” The computer-animated movie, based on the famous comic strip by cartoonist Charles Addams, comes from “Sausage Party” directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan and features an all-star voice cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Allison Janney, Bette Midler, and “Eighth Grade” favorite Elsie Fisher.
“The Addams Family” follows America’s most macabre family as they figure out a way to evade a greedy television host who is hellbent on turning their lives into a reality television series. The host shows up in the midst of the family’s preparations for a huge celebration with extended relatives. Isaac is voicing Gomez, while Theron is taking on the role of Morticia.

Since first debuting as a cartoon in The New Yorker all the way back in 1938, The Addams Family have captured the hearts and imaginations of people the world over in the decades to follow. Of course, the live action TV series from the ’60s and, to an extent, the animated followup from Hanna-Barbera in the ’70s can largely be credited for kickstarting their mainstream popularity, but each interpretation has its place in history.
Since then, more recent generations hopped on the bandwagon thanks to two major motion pictures released in the early ’90s, which spawned a damn good video game during the 16-bit era, believe it or not. There was a threequel of sorts a few years later, too, that arrived in the form of the direct-to-video Addams Family Reunion, but it’s almost as if the Powers That Be want people to forget about it because that installment doesn’t get much play.

They’re creepy and they’re kooky, and they’re coming to theaters next fall. On Tuesday, MGM President Jonathan Glickman revealed the famous voices behind the studio’s upcoming animated remake of “The Addams Family.” Oscar Issac and Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron (“Monster”) will lead the cast, collaborating for the first time as spouses Gomez and Morticia Addams.
Playing their dour progeny are Chloë Grace Moretz (Wednesday Addams), star of this year’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner “The Miseducation of Cameron Post,” and “Stranger Things” regular Finn Wolfhard (Pugsley Addams). This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
In a better world Addams Family Values would have got both the rich acclaim and enormous box office it merited in 1993. A deliciously playful sequel, it’s 94 minutes of tightly put together comedy, with a bunch of performers that come close to defining "perfectly cast." News this week came in that the final planned Divergent Series movie would be skipping the theaters and go direct to television/DVD. It’s a rare move for such a major studio franchise to make, and it got me to thinking about other movie series that fizzled and did the same. Come inside to check out a history of downward sliding franchises!
If I come off sounding a bit harsh about all this, it’s mostly due to the fact that it’s such a bizarre situation. It’s been awhile since a studio franchise had to dropped down to direct-to-television and it’s not a good thing. Sure, Lionsgate is trying to spin the information that it’s part of a planned way to jumpstart a spin-off TV series...but the reality is this isn’t how they wanted The Divergent Series to end.

Bill & Ted, Addams Family Values, Wayne's World 2 - the 1990s wasn't short of good comedy sequels. It's just not enough people watched them.
In recent times, Hollywood has enjoyed going back into the 1990s to come up with belated sequels to previous hit movies. So, we finally got Dumb & Dumber 2, for instance, whilst a third Clerks, a second Mallrats, a new Sister Act and a Naked Gun reboot are being cooked up somewhere. Further belated sequels? Zoolander 2 finally arrives next year, and Anchorman 2 celebrates, quietly, its second birthday this Christmas.
It was only at the end of the 1990s that comedy sequels suddenly really took off. There were exceptions beforehand of course, but few things raise the eyebrows of Hollywood high brass than lots of cash. This, whilst the enormous box office takings of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me were in part down to an utterly inspired marketing campaign,...

Paramount tried a few approaches in the new Terminator reboot. But if a franchise hits the doldrums, how can a studio resurrect it?
Fingers are being crossed at Skydance and Paramount Pictures that the critical mauling handed out to Terminator: Genisys last week won't be reflected fully in the box office numbers. So far, the plan for a new trilogy of Terminator films is arguably just about alive, courtesy of a total gross for the new film of $131m worldwide. That's below expectations, but if it can eventually crawl its way to $400m, that's probably enough to move ahead with a Genisys sequel (it'd be more than the hugely-acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road).
But even if a new film gets greenlit, it's clear that things have to change again. As many have pointed out, the consensus is now that there have been more bad-to-middling Terminator films than good ones,...

Charles Addams' ghoulish creations look set to finally re-emerge in cartoon form after Tim Burton project scrapped
• Tim Burton to direct Beetlejuice 2
• Why I love … Addams Family Values' Thanksgiving play
Gomez, Morticia and Uncle Fester are set to live again: as animated characters in a new version of The Addams Family, reports Variety.
After a pair of live-action hit movies in the early 90s – The Addams Family and Addams Family Values – had revived interest in Charles Addams' macabre creations, originally conceived as drawings in the New Yorker magazine, a string of cheap TV cartoons as well as a straight to video feature (Addams Family Reunion) had somewhat tarnished the brand. Tim Burton and Despicable Me producer Chris Meledandri had reportedly been trying to bring a stop-motion Addams Family to the big screen in recent years, but the project was scrapped in July.

Tremors? Nightbreed? Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat? 976-evil? Are all on the list this year. And though there were not huge horror wins in sound editing through screenplays, the Technical Awards never cease to bring out the horror veterans. Notably Tim Drnec who contributed to such VHS classics as Alien Seed, Destroyer, and Prison won for his work on “Spydercam 3D volumetric suspended cable camera technologies.” An award also shared with Ben Britten Smith and Matt Davis who both also worked on Constantine.
But among all the winners, the Academy also honored some great loses in 2010. And though they mentioned some of our heroes, Dennis Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Kevin McCarthy (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and Dino de Laurentiis (King Kong), they did not mention Zelda Rubinstein or Corey Haim. But we will in this last section and the others lost to us last year.

Elegant and charming supporting actor with more than 200 credits over a 70-year career
Kevin McCarthy, who has died aged 96, notched up more than 70 years as a working actor on stage and screen, with more than 200 film and TV credits. However mundane the material, it was usually enhanced by his lazy charm and natural elegance, his intriguing baritone voice and unconventional good looks – all attributes that might well have led him down the political path of his cousin, senator Eugene McCarthy. As it happened, he preferred to play politicians rather than be one.
He received his first screen credit in Laslo Benedek's version of Death of a Salesman (1951).
