The only reason I gave this cartoon a score as high as 3 is because it came out in 1929 and animation quality was far lower than compared to just a year or two later. But this STILL doesn't mean it's a good film or even compared favorably to the competition, such as Disney or the Fleischer Brothers.
The plot is a lot like a Snidely Whiplash and Dudley Doo Right cartoon...minus the laughs. Instead of a mustache twirling villain, you have a horny cat. And, the girl he kidnaps is a mouse...though why a cat would want to force himself on a mouse is beyond me. So, it's up to the mouse's fiance and some mounties to come to the rescue. Following this is a wedding where they tie the knot.
There are few good laughs and lots of cheap animation. Even back in 1929, I am pretty sure audiences were not enthralled by the likes of "A Close Call"...it just looks 3rd rate and you can find better.
