And we’re off to the races. Jeopardy! Masters‘ second season premiered Wednesday night, and the studio was brimming with excitement… and a whole lotta personality. James Holzhauer, for example, declared himself the “main event” of the tournament without any hint of jest (even when he was trailing well behind his competitors in the game). And Victoria Groce clarified that she’s still the “queen” of The Chase — no past tense references allowed, even by Ken Jennings. Conversely, Amy Schneider was a bit more reserved as she grappled with being the one person in the competition who hadn’t technically earned their way into it. Let’s revisit all the major highlights from Games 1 and 2 of Jeopardy! Masters Season 2 from the top: Game One This set saw Victoria Groce, Matt Amodio, and Mattea Roach in competition with one another… and by competition, we mean ...

Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings caught some flak from viewers on Tuesday night (April 30) after making a harsh ruling that cost one contestant $800 in the middle of a tense game. Tuesday’s episode saw reigning champion Amy Hummel, an ER doctor from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, taking on Bryan Carrasco, a mortgage loan originator from Columbia, Missouri, and Laura Bligh, a webmaster from Vienna, Virginia. Hummel, who had already amassed a four-day total of $85,794, was looking for her fifth win but found stiff competition from Carrasco and Bligh. After the first round, Hummel and Bligh were tied on $4,800, while Carrasco followed closely behind with $4,200. Things got dicey in the Double Jeopardy! round. Carrasco’s score dropped to $0 after he confused “Rhone” and “Rhine” during a Daily Double. Meanwhile, Hummel and Bligh stayed neck and neck, both answering multiple clues correctly. However, the game took a turn when Bligh buzzed in to answer the...

Depending on your zip code, you might just be out of luck when it comes to watching the next two episodes of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune on Thursday, April 25, and Friday, April 26. Why? Well, since the game shows are syndicated, they air on different local television stations across the country — most of which are affiliated with broadcasters like ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC — and one of those networks is preempting the usual air time. Yes, on both Thursday and Friday, ABC will air the 2024 NFL Draft in the evenings. Jeopardy! fans are seriously annoyed after an incorrect clue was featured during Double Jeopardy!

The San Jose, California native’s clue was a video featuring a brown-winged bird as it fluttered its wings.
Host Ken Jennings read the clue to Alison: “The Cooper’s type of this bird of prey is soon to be the Tbd type as American birds will no longer have people in their common names.”
When Alison’s guess, “Finch,” was deemed incorrect, Ken told her the correct answer was, “Cooper’s Hawk.”
But, some hawk-eyed (pun intended) Jeopardy! viewers pointed out that the bird in question wasn’t a hawk but a falcon.

Wednesday’s episode of Jeopardy!, which was the first regular show after the Invitational Tournament ended on Tuesday, saw Partridge, a school counselor from Las Vegas, joined by newcomers Daniel Rosenberg, a lawyer from New York, and Lee Wilkins, a regulatory affairs coordinator from Alabama. The first round went well enough for Partridge. He got 12 answers correct, versus five incorrect. and netted $3,600. Jeopardy! producers Michael Davies and Sarah Whitcomb Foss have hit back at those who have accused the show of “recency bias” in the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament. This comes after some fans, as well as Jit semi-finalist Jennifer Quail, slammed the show for its alleged favoritism towards recent fan favorites, such as 2022 Tournament of Champions winner Amy Schneider and the Toc runner-ups Andrew He and Sam Buttrey. Schneider and He were the first two contestants to qualify for the Jit final and had Buttrey won last Thursday’s (April 4) game, it would have resulted in a 2022 Toc and Jeopardy! Masters rematch. “See, yesterday and today is why I feel like the three people who knew a year in advance they’d be here should have had to play each other in the semis or quarters, because we’re one game away from it making no difference, it would just be a Masters repeat,...

The long-running trivia show has undergone several changes throughout the decades, but if there’s one thing that comes to mind when viewers think of Jeopardy!, it’s Alex Trebek.
Alex served as Jeopardy!’s host for 37 years, and it didn’t take long for him to become a household name.
But Alex had to step down from his position when his battle with pancreatic cancer interfered with his career, and sadly, Alex lost his battle with cancer in November 2020.
Although Alex is gone, he’s certainly not forgotten, as evidenced by a recent campaign announced by Jeopardy!

Jeopardy! contestant Victoria Groce buzzed herself to victory during Friday’s eighth quarterfinal of the ongoing Invitational Tournament, and fans of the game show are applauding her Daily Double-less win. “I’m very impressed with Victoria’s performance today!” one viewer wrote in a Reddit discussion thread for Friday’s episode, after Victoria trounced Ben Ingram, a business control specialist originally from Florence, South Carolina, and Dhruv Gaur, a grad student from Cambridge, Massachusetts (and the contestant who once made Alex Trebek choke up). Victoria, a writer and television personality from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, ended the game with $28,801 after a correct Final Jeopardy! response. It wasn’t a runaway game, though, since Dhruv had $14,400 going into Final Jeopardy! He responded incorrectly and ended up in third place with $5,999, behind Ben, who scored $7,654. “Victoria was on fire with the buzzer and Ben and Dhruv could hardly ring in,” another person wrote. “You...

Jeopardy! has been experimenting with format tweaks over the past year, including contestant and puzzle board split screens and, more controversially, encouraging contestants to recite the entire category names. However, as many viewers have noticed during the currently airing Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament, the show seems to have relaxed its rule that contestants must read out the whole category every time they select a clue. The game show’s executive producer, Michael Davies, confirmed this rule relaxation on a recent episode of Inside Jeopardy! podcast, where he admitted the change didn’t quite work as intended. “I dont think we’ve made a perfect change,” Davies said. “We had briefed the contestants to give full names of categories… and then people have commented on that.” “We’ve obviously gone back,” he continued. “If it’s a 12-word category, we’re not asking you to repeat all 12 words. It was getting a little informal,...
