Early Sports Quiz: What's Your I.Q. No. 13 (1947)
*** (out of 4)
Another fun entry in the Pete Smith series has the narrating asking several questions and then giving the viewer either five or ten seconds to answer it. This one here is about sports and features these questions:
What major sport was invented by one person?
We see an image of various parts, what do these make?
What country invented the roller skate?
In a five year period, which sports team had more wins?
What sport reached 100mph first?
How many events in a Decathilon?
Which country never won an Olympic ski jump?
In early baseball, how did you get a person out?
I was able to get all but one. Fans of Smith should enjoy the comic bits he adds to the questions including a very funny one dealing with how you got a base runner out in the early days of baseball. Sports fans should enjoy going through the questions and the jokes that go along with some of the answers are for the most part entertaining. At just 9-minutes there's certainly nothing bad here, although waiting for the ten seconds to end does get a tad bit boring at times.
