(1998 TV Movie)

Chris Noth: Detective Mike Logan

Quotes

  • [the case has been solved]

Georgeanne Taylor : I hope this gets you back to Manhattan.

Detective Mike Logan : Well, you never know about these things.

Georgeanne Taylor : [in a tone indicating she never wants to see him again]  Good bye, Mike.

Detective Mike Logan : [after she closes the door in his face]  Good night.

  • [Logan refuses to back off the case despite the involvement of a dirty cop]

Captain Donald Cragen : A dirty cop is like a skunk. You get too close, you start to smell. You keep poking around Gianni Uzielli, *you're* gonna come up with an awful bad odour.

Detective Mike Logan : That's a risk I'm going to have to take.

Captain Donald Cragen : Remember, Mike. Serpico got shot in the face.

  • [Profaci has just been arrested by Internal Affairs]

Lieutenant Anita Van Buren : To tell you the truth, I don't know what to say.

Detective Mike Logan : That makes two of us.

[as he leaves, the 2-7 detectives give him looks of hostility]

Detective Mike Logan : [to Sammy]  I'm sorry.

[walks past Briscoe, who says nothing]

Detective Mike Logan : [to Rey Curtis]  Rey, watch his back, okay.

  • [Logan just met Curtis, and there is a moment of awkward silence]

Detective Mike Logan : I guess meeting ex-partners is a bit like meeting ex-wives.

Detective Rey Curtis : Actually, he likes you better than his ex-wives.

Detective Lennie Briscoe : Yeah. You don't cost me any money.

  • [Stolper has ordered Logan to give the case to the 27th Precinct]

Detective Mike Logan : Wait a minute. I CAUGHT this case! I have to see it through.

Lieutenant Kevin Stolper : HEY! Let's not rewrite history here. I GAVE you this case!

Detective Mike Logan : And I appreciate that. You think I wanna piss you off?

Lieutenant Kevin Stolper : Are you kidding me? You piss people off just saying good morning.

  • [Profaci has been exposed as the dirty cop]

Detective Mike Logan : God Almighty, Profaci. Of all the cops I know, you're the last one I thought would take a *cent*! I was looking at Sammy Kurtz the whole time.

  • [referring to a dirty cop in his former precinct, the 27th]

Captain Donald Cragen : There's a fox in the henhouse. Now Internal Affairs is all over me.

Detective Mike Logan : Which henhouse is that?

Captain Donald Cragen : Where's Catwalk? When I ran the 2-7, it was CLEAN. The last thing I want to do is go to my old precinct and bust a cop. Hell, I was half tempted to lose the tape.

  • [Gianni Uzielli evaded Logan and Silvera's pursuit]

Detective Mike Logan : This is embarrassing. We just lost a guy on Staten Island.

Detective Frankie Silvera : No. *You* were driving. *You* just lost a guy on Staten Island.

Detective Mike Logan : Well, it's your island. I don't know these back roads.

Detective Frankie Silvera : You don't even know the *main roads*.

  • Lieutenant Anita Van Buren : Hell of a way to start my day. I get a call from Internal Affairs saying they want to interrogate MY officers. Then I find out YOU'VE known for months that there was a dirty cop on my watch, yet you don't tell me,

    [referring to Logan]

Lieutenant Anita Van Buren : you tell HIM!

Captain Donald Cragen : Well, the reason for that was...

Lieutenant Anita Van Buren : Sammy Kurtz is one of the finest officers that ever served under me and NOTHING I have heard today is going to change my opinion!

Detective Mike Logan : I have no opinion of Sammy Kurtz, I'm just working a case.

Lieutenant Anita Van Buren : Uh-huh.

Detective Mike Logan : Listen, I don't know Sammy, you do. Maybe you're too close to him. Maybe I have a better perspective on this.

Lieutenant Anita Van Buren : Maybe you do, or maybe you're still as self-obsessed as you always were!

    [she storms off]

Captain Donald Cragen : [sarcastically]  Well, she seems like a nice lady.

  • Detective Mike Logan : Tell me why your prints would be on a mattress that we found after you had left?

[Cragen turns on the intercom and listens in]

Detective Mike Logan : Internal Affairs is on their way up. They don't have a name, but they have a tape. Lots of talk on that tape about a dirty cop at the 2-7. What they don't have is the cop's prints on a mattress.

Detective Tony Profaci : [beat]  I used to run into Old Man Uzielli at Al's Clam Bar. Cops and Wiseguys, all rats in the same maze. Eating in the same restaurants, drinking in the same bars, sleeping with the same women. One day he asks me to fix a speeding ticket for Gianni. Next day, I get an envelope. No note, no return address, $300 cash inside. Next thing I know, I'm looking out for this kid like he's my own brother, Mike.

Detective Mike Logan : So IAB catches you with your hand in the till. Lots of cops have been caught with their hand in the till, lots of cops DON'T get caught murdering a PREGNANT WOMAN!

Detective Tony Profaci : *I DIDN'T KILL HER*! With Gianni, it was always small stuff. Until I walked in the hotel room that night.
