Mumbai, March 24: Actors Divya Dutta and Rajit Kapur, who starred in the screen adaptation of Khushwant Singh's "Train To Pakistan", have fond memories of the late journalist and writer, who died in the capital last week.
He passed away quietly at his residence March 20. He was 99.
Divya, who played a key role in "Train To Pakistan", met the writer a few months ago only.
"I've the fondest memories of him! We shared a bond ever since 'Train To Pakistan'. I visited him at his home in Delhi a few months back. We had a heart-to-heart chat. He was full of life. He gifted me a book with a lovely message. It would be.

The grand old man of the written word who had become increasingly isolated and lonely and welcoming of death, passed away on Thursday at the ripe old age of 99. Nirmal Pandey, known for his role of Vikram Mallah in "Bandit Queen", died Thursday morning following a massive heart attack. He was 48.
He is survived by his wife Archana Pandey.
Nirmal's "Lahore" is releasing Friday and director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan says he was shocked to hear the news.
"I just got to know from Sushant Singh that he is no more and I'm rushing to the hospital... I had a word with him two days ago and he was supposed to come tomorrow (Friday) to shoot the making of 'Lahore' alongside Sushant, Saurabh Shukla and Mukesh Rishi," Chauhan told Ians over phone.
"He plays a soft-hearted Pakistani Anwar Sheikh in the movie. He has a very meaty and powerful role in the movie. But unfortunately, I will not be able to show him the film," he added.
A National School of Drama alumnus, Nirmal began his career with theatre.
He is survived by his wife Archana Pandey.
