Poorly-made Victorian porn
lor_11 February 2015
I'm a sucker for Victorian pornography, with its young girls getting birched in convents and a whole lot of gamahouching going on. IN THE SPRING is a low-grade example, made when the genre was briefly popular on screen.

Disjointed as most cheap porn efforts are, it has linking footage set in a park where various guys in period dress speak in various accents using flowery English, reminiscing about sexual conquests that we see in flashbacks. They appear to be reading their lines off of cards, but it it was good enough for Brando....

Sandy Dempsey without her trademark tattoo (that's how old this movie is) plays Louise and sings from Carmen before humping.

Extreme gynecological close-ups dominate the overlong sex scenes, making one wonder why they bothered with the Victorian setting. Keigh Erickson appears wearing a fake wig and even fake eyebrows as he recalls sex with Jacqueline in a sex scene lasting over a reel -so long in fact that his mustache disappears in some shots. They have sex together a second time in a bathtub, adding another 5 minutes of XXX filler.

Print preserved by Something Weird is fragmentary -it ends in the middle of the next schmoozing on a park bench linking scene.
