In 2002, Nesler was convicted of possession and supply of methamphetamine and served 4 years of a six year sentence. She died of breast cancer, aged 56, on 30th December 2008. Her son, Brandon, had a troubled later life and in 2005, aged 23, he was convicted of murdering a neighbour (who cleaned their house) by beating him to death, on the very same day he had been released from a 30 day sentence for a previous attack on the same man. He was sentenced to 25 years to life and will not be eligible for parole until 2030, at the earliest , when he will be 48 years old.
