The upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is set to shake up the MCU after a couple of slumps in the past one or two years. Fans have been dreaming about this live-action team-up for years ever since their brief interactions in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Deadpool 3 pairs The Merc With a Mouth with his frenemy Logan/ Wolverine
Another iconic combination that Wolverine was a part of on the animation side was with the Hulk in the 2009 film Hulk Vs Wolverine. The film did not get the deserved attention and popularity back in the day. As Deadpool 3 comes closer to release, fans are giving a shoutout to the film for giving them a badass two-hander back in the day.

When it comes to iconic villains, Thanos stands tall, both in comic books and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). His quest for universal balance, as well as his absolute power and wisdom, made him a formidable foe. But a closer look at Thanos’ story from the comic books reveals another story, one that challenges the idea of his intelligence and shrewdness portrayed in the movies.
Thanos from Avengers: Endgame
In the comic books, Thanos is a very complex character. Created by writer-artist Jim Starlin, Thanos first appeared in The Invincible Iron Man #55 in 1973. Unlike his portrayal in the MCU, where his primary motivation is balancing the universe in, by erasing half of all life, Thanos is such a complicated and extremely nuanced backstory in the comics.

Eternals 2: ‘Eros’ Harry Styles & Others Will Go Up Against A Variant Of Thanos, Claims A Report (Picture Credit: Facebook & IMDb)
Chloe Zhao directed Eternals had an ensemble cast, but it failed to impress the fans like other MCU movies. The first part came out in 2021, and it has been almost three years. A social media report has shared a new update on Eternals 2. The first film featured Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Barry Keoghan and others. It also introduced Harry Styles as Eros, Thanos’s brother.
The MCU introduced the Eternals and explained, despite being such powerful beings, why they did not interfere when Thanos invaded Earth or the other bad things that happened over the centuries. The Celestials created them, and their primary enemies are the Deviants. The fictional race of humanoids was created by Jack Kirby in 1976. Keep scrolling for more.

Drax the Destroyer, created by comic book writer Jim Starlin, first appeared in the 55th issue of "The Invincible Iron Man" in February 1973, and would immediately go on to be a supporting character in the space-bound "Captain Marvel" book series. In the lore of the comics, Drax was a human soul that had been implanted into the body of an enormously powerful, green-skinned alien bruiser, specially constructed to fight the Mad Titan Thanos. Over the years, Drax would do battle with his daughter, a powerful psychic named Moondragon. In the process, he would lose his intelligence, but would still go on to carry one of the all-powerful Infinity Gems as a member of the Infinity Watch. Many years later, he would be inducted into the Guardians of the Galaxy.
The version of Drax seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is quite different. First played by actor Dave Bautista in the 2014 film "Guardians of the Galaxy,...

The new Doctor Strange movie has done what 50 years of comic book lore could not – it has made the the Marvel Universe’s master of the mystical arts into a household name. Like Iron Man before him, Stephen Strange is no longer a B-tier superhero, beloved only by dedicated comic book readers. He now […]

It's been less than ten years since Marvel Studios kicked off its grand experiment with Iron Man and changed Hollywood forever, and it's interesting to look at the ways the company has both relied on what's worked and pushed its own boundaries since then. The studio's fourteenth (!) movie, Doctor Strange, is, when you break it down, a relatively formulaic origin story, but in many ways its the studio's most daring creation yet. This is the most visually stunning film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while co-writer/director Scott Derrickson leans on familiar beats in the screenplay, it's his stylistic eye that makes the movie leap off of the screen and truly command your attention.
Benedict Cumberbatch is perfectly cast at Dr. Stephen Strange, a brilliant surgeon who loses the use of his hands and travels across the world to learn the mystic arts of magic. He's just as arrogant...

For This Week in Marvel Unlimited, I wanted to focus on a nice feature the app has which showcases Marvel event stories and character spotlights. Under the Discover tab you can find a wealth of stories from new events to must read classics. I chose to read Avengers Vs X-men.
This is an entertaining story but one that has some serious problems. The main focus of the story is the fact that the Phoenix Force has come back to Earth. Due to events of the House Of M event, the Scarlet Witch helped the demise of mutants by declaring there would be no more mutants. The remaining mutants on Earth have moved to the Utopia Island just off the coast of San Francisco. Scott Summers, Cyclops of the X-Men, feels he can use the returning Phoenix Force to help bring mutants back. The Avengers think otherwise. Hence, they battle.

The Russo Brothers are about to dive deep into doing press for Captain America: Civil War, but with the two-part Avengers: Infinity War movies just over the horizon, fans are desperate for any scraps of info they can get. Anthony and Joe Russo sat down with Forbes for a long interview that covered many different topics, and they touched on which characters we might see pop up in Infinity War:
Anthony: There are certain characters you don't know.Joe: New characters that are going to appear in Avengers: Infinity War. It’s a big sprawling ambitious movie, it’s about as ambitious as movies get and it should be, and the title alone indicates that there will be an incredible scape [sic] and scope to it.Anthony: It is intended to be the entire culmination of the Marvel cinematic universe and, in many ways, the end to that part of it.

Yesterday, fans were treated to an incredible new trailer for Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, and a lot of us spent time picking it apart trying to find certain things that we didn't want to miss. I even went through it frame by frame and posted over a 100 screenshots looking for any signs of awesomeness that might be hidden in it. Now, Mr. Sunday Movies has released a video that points out ten Easter eggs and references in the film trailer that you might have missed. He says:
Captain America: Civil War trailer 2 is here! Check out all the Easter Eggs, References, Things Missed (not six but ten!), as well as a closer look at Spider-man and which Avengers he’ll side with! Team Cap or Team Iron man?

Spider-Man, Black Panther and a whole lot more. Here's what we learned from the new Captain America 3 trailer...
The second trailer for Captain America: Civil War has arrived, and we there are a few things in it that you might just want to talk about. Here’s our moment-by-moment breakdown.
It’s hard to say for sure, but based on what I know from the comics it looks like this is a flashback to when the Winter Soldier was still under Hydra control and being kept on ice between missions. Some have speculated that part of the ideological split between Cap and Iron Man is over whether Bucky should be held to account for his crimes as the Winter Soldier, so it would make sense to revisit exactly what they were earlier in the film.
William Hurt returns as General Ross. A little less bushy and...

Some of the best Christmas gifts I received as a youth were graphic novels. Before the days of digital comics this was the only way for me to have a complete story set, and since they were expensive I would put two or three on my Christmas list. Here is part 1 of what I consider important comic graphic novels for collectors and new readers.
Daredevil: Man Without Fear
For those who are fans of the Netflix series or want to be introduced to Frank Millers best work this is the series to start with. Frank Miller and John Romita Jr. worked collaboratively together to bring Daredevil to the forefront of the Marvel Universe. This is a reincarnation of Matt Murdocks origin story that makes him a flawed hero.

We've been banging the drum for a while now, advocating that Spider-Man return home to Marvel Studios to take his rightful place alongside the established superstars created by its films, like Iron Man, Captain America and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, with the recent news announcing a major deal between Sony Pictures and Disney, that former fan pipe dream is a reality. Bringing Peter Parker and his supporting cast into the mix for the Marvel cinematic universe does a lot to restore the narrative vitality of the film series, even though it didn't really need a restoration yet. Spider-Man is Marvel's most visibly identifiable character, with the iconic costume designed by the great Steve Ditko being universally recognizable the world over...

Marvel
With three separate movie studios focused on building their own individual cinematic fiefdoms in Marvel Studios (the Avengers), Sony (The Amazing Spider-Man), and 20th Century Fox (X-Men and Fantastic Four), the odds of ever getting these Hollywood behemoths to come together in order to produce a movie featuring all of these iconic characters has long been a pipedream.
Except the tide may be turning.
Moviegoers were surprised to see a clip for X-Men: Days of Future Past at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It certainly wasn’t on the level of some of the mid and end credit teasers that Marvel Studios has been making famous since releasing Iron Man in 2008, but it is the first real sign in years that there has been a potential thaw in the icy political dynamics that have continued to keep all these billion dollar properties separate.

The trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is out and you’ve no doubt seen it here on ComicMix and elsewhere. It looks pretty spiffy, I think, and I’m ready to shell out my shekels to see it.
I came into the living room the other day as My Mary was watching the end the previous Amazing Spider-Man on the tube. She mentioned how her friend Sherry preferred Toby McGuire’s Spider-Man to Andrew Garfield’s and made an interesting observation: McGuire’s Spider-Man was more Todd MacFarland while Garfield’s was more Steve Ditko. I found that pretty astute.
McGuire was also Sherry’s first Spider-Man and I think that also plays into it. Who your favorite artist (or even writer) on a given character or property may depend on who was on the book when you first read it. For me, my Spider-Man artist was John Romita – and that’s Senior,...

2013 may not have featured anything quite as major as the assemblage of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes or the conclusion of an epic trilogy featuring a certain Caped Crusader, but it was still been a pretty good year for superhero movies. Two of The Avengers starred in their respective solo outings, Superman finally returned to the big screen, Wolverine at last got a worthy spin-off, and the second volume of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.’s critically acclaimed Kick-Ass was adapted.
There were a few other comic book movies released of course (none of which particularly impressed audiences or critics), but in this feature, we count down the ten best moments which were featured in Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Man of Steel, The Wolverine and Kick-Ass 2. Some of these would prove to be quite controversial, so as always, we’d love to hear whether or not you...

Interview Ryan Lambie 2 Aug 2013 - 06:33
During our Kick-Ass 2 set visit last year, we got to speak to comic artist and producer John Romita, Jr. Here's what he had to say...
Nb: Just so you know, this interview contains a very brief, mildly spoilery description of a fight scene in the Kick-Ass 2 movie.
A prolific comic artist since the 1970s, John Romita Jr cut his teeth on a short story for an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man before embarking on a popular run in Iron Man. Having brought his distinctive art style to the likes of Punisher: War Zone and Daredevil: The Man Without Fear, more recent years have seen him team up with Mark Millar for the creator-owned series, Kick-Ass.
Following the cult success of the first movie, Romita Jr's on board with the sequel as an executive producer, and even has a brief cameo with his partner Millar,...

After becoming a modern day legend thanks to his ground-breaking work on comics like "Uncanny X-Men," "Iron Man," "Daredevil," "Punisher" and "Amazing Spider-Man," John Romita Jr. has finally experienced the unique joy of seeing his own creations on the big screen. Romita created the "Kick-Ass" world alongside writer Mark Millar in 2008. Romita recently spoke with MTV Geek about the upcoming sequel, "Kick-Ass 2," and revealed just how much of what's on the big screen comes directly from his penciled pages.
"No, it's not a direct adaptation of the books. But y'know, there are a lot of similarities - it's a take on Mark and my visuals, and the things that we created, and it's really flattering to see all that up there. I mean, they have to create their own stuff. They can't just be taking everything from what we do... It's not like some comic movies,...

Wizard magazine used to be both a blessing and a curse to comics fans. It had exclusive interviews with creators and fun features, like “Casting Call” and “Top Ten Writers and Artists”, but it was also criticized for mainly focusing on Marvel and DC and for pandering to a “mainstream” audience. In this column, I will revive the “Top Ten Writers and Artists” for a new generation of comic book fans. Every few months, I will evaluate the current comics writers and artists that are innovating in their field, find success in multiple genres, or just putting out interesting stories on a monthly basis. These creators will range from Marvel to DC to Image and other independent publishers and will be listed in no particular order.

With the first leaked set photos from "Amazing Spider-Man 2," the fastly-approaching sequel has done the impossible; it's turned skeptics into believers by taking what was one of the more daring redesigns of a classic superhero costume and turned it around into the most faithful one we've ever seen.
After seeing how bananas (in the positive sense of the word) the fan base went after seeing a Steve Ditko/Mark Bagley-accurate Spider-Man on set, we thought we'd make a list of the other Marvel heroes whose comic duds could be faithfully recreated onscreen.
Thor
Thor's original movie look leaned heavily on Olivier Coipel's classic redesign, but with a few liberties. The most notable? Save for one brief scene, Thor didn't wear his winged Asgardian helmet. We think Thor could effortlessly transition into Esad Ribic's new design, currently featured in the comic "Thor: God of Thunder,...

In a past edition of Galaxy Guide, we discussed director James Gunn joining the "Guardians of the Galaxy" film, and mentioned his affection for Rom, the action figure turned comic book hero of the 1980s. Rom's name has come up again in recent weeks, both for the filing of trademarks by toymaker Hasbro, the current owner of Rom, and for rumors that Disney, having already acquired Marvel (and more recently, Lucasfilm) may be in talks to acquire Hasbro as well.
This has led to speculation that a long-held fan dream might be realized: that Rom might once again return to the Marvel Universe in all his armored glory, a goal that has been obstructed by licensing issues to date.
Given these recent Rom ruminations, and the possibility, however speculative, that Rom might become available for use in Marvel's comics and movies, we thought the time was right to take a...

As I write this, my Bears are presently phoning in a performance so bad I’m opting to write my article instead. The game is on, yes. But, frankly, I’m not even paying attention. I guess I owe my bad-news-Bears a debt of gratitude, though. They are giving me the inspiration for a column this week.
Nothing grinds my gears more than a weak start. And this week past, a comic that should have been a touchdown upon reception was a weak three-and-out worthy of the finger wagging like no other. Matt Fraction and Mark Bagley’s relaunched Marvel Now Fantastic Four #1 was a let down of mammoth proportions. And it warrants a bit of a rant.
Generally speaking I like to keep my reviews (chock full of piss and vinegar) over at Michael Davis World. But I was too elated by Gail Simone’s Batgirl this week past...

I was lucky enough to get great seating for the panel which mapped out the future for Marvel comics and the heroes between the pages.
Among the panel was Axel Alonso- Editor-in-Chief, Jason Aaron- Thor: God of Thunder, Mark Waid- Indestructible Hulk, Rick Remender- Captain America, Kieron Gillen- Iron Man.
They kicked things off with Iron Man. Gillen takes the pen from Matt Fraction and in my opinion, for the better. When Fraction first started on Iron Man it was awesome but as time went by I could see the story losing steam and becoming slower and slower. Gillen wants to take Tony Stark to the edge of science and really push Iron Man to the limits of what Stark thinks is possible. He wants it to have a philosophical and thought provoking impact on readers. An added element that we will see with the new Iron Man...

This week has seen the reveal of new creative teams for Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Deadpool, but the final teasers released by Marvel (via iFanboy) may just be the most exciting yet! This November, Rick Remender (Uncanny X-Force) and John Romita Jr. (Kick-Ass) will team-up for a brand new Captain America ongoing series after current writer Ed Brubaker concludes his epic 9 year run in October. As with the other teasers, there is no artwork for the series just yet, but with confirmation that Brubaker is staying on Winter Solider, we now know who will be taking control of the Star Spangled Avenger in the post-Avengers Vs. X-Men Marvel Universe. Meanwhile, USA Today have unveiled another teaser which reveals that Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four will soon be in the hands of the capable creative team of Matt Fraction (Invincible Iron Man) and Mark Bagley (Avengers Assemble). Another also teases Matt...

Once again, my Facebook friend Jim Engel tipped me off to another jumping-on point for a rant. I think I owe him a Coke. Seems someone at the Wall Street Journal perked up at the news that the Avengers crossed the bajillion bucks meter, and it stemmed a very obvious question: If the movie is that popular, shouldn’t there be some kind of carry-over to the parent media? And the simple answer is one we comic fans hate to admit: Ain’t no carry-over cash coming through the doors of the local comic shop over this (or any other) movie. So the WSJ writer, one Tim Marchman, decided to take his book review of “Leaping Tall Buildings” and turn it into a tirade on the industry I want so badly to call home. Now don’t get me wrong, Marchman makes a few solid points. Ok, he makes a lot of them.

After John Romita, Jr. spoke just a few days ago about the likelihood of Kick-Ass 2 filming this summer, word now comes that Universal Pictures are in talks to bring the project to life with Jeff Wadlow directing from his own script.
Deadline report that the plan is to get the film into production by August, and the original cast of Aaron Johnson, Chlöe Grace Moretz, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are all now in talks to reprise their roles from Matthew Vaughn’s brilliant first film, adapting Mark Millar and Romita, Jr.’s original comic book series.
There’s been some speculator about Moretz’s return as Hit-Girl, with a busy schedule ahead of her, but an August start date could well work nicely for her. The Carrie remake, which she’s leading, is due to go before cameras in June, making an August slot for Kick-Ass 2 hopefully possible for her to...

The last issue of AvX lit the fuse, this second issue blew it up but rather than causing a stir, the fallout is a rather typical crossover event that was all show and not really the explosion you’d imagine given the power on show here. For the most part this is just a series of fights, putting hero against hero and having the narrator (whoever that might be) informing us readers how powerful these blows are and just how epic the face offs are supposed to be. This works well at first but with stuff like “Hand that has touched the floor of the marianas trench meets a jaw made of living stone.

"I do hope you'll let me make this up to you over dinner some time," Iron Man is quoted above the image. "Not for all the caviar in the world, Tony dear," is Frost's response. The image follows previous teasers featuring Cyclops and Captain America and Colossus and Red Hulk. Jason Aaron is the writer and Romita Jr the artist for the second issue of Avengers vs X-Men, with a cover design from Jim Cheung. "The war to save the (more)...

Warning: Major Spoilers Ahead! In the latest issue of Invincible Iron Man, we saw Tony Stark face a horrifying fight in Paris against the Grey Gargoyle, one of the Serpent's "Worthy". Afterwards, taking a bottle of alcohol with him tauntingly given as a gift by the widow and daughter of Justin Hammer, the future for Iron Man seemed bleak. Well, in Fear Itself #4, things get a lot worse as he takes a drink from a wine bottle labelled 'Demon Dans Une Bouteille' and breaks his sobriety. Many thanks to Bleeding Cool for the following scan. As many of you know, Stark took the decision to become sober in the classic 1979 Demon in a Bottle storyline by David Michelinie and John Romita Jr. What do you think of this decision by Marvel and writer Matt Fraction? be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!
