Working title was "Appointment in Corregidor", but before the film was released to theaters, the Japanese surrendered to the U.S. on September 2, 1945. Additional footage was added to the completed documentary and the title was changed to reflect the victory.
After the opening credits following the title, the film's opening statement declares: "All enemy film taken from captured official Japanese newsreels."
The film was released on December 7, 1945, the 4th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that started the U.S. war in the Pacific.
