Again With The Swirly Skirts
Annabelle dances the Sun Dance. It looks like a variation of her better remembered "butterfly dance" made in 1894 for the Edison company. Again, she wears that dress with its hems held in her arms, while she poses, moves and moves the fabric about. She was not the only practitioner of the art. The original film made her the best known one.
There's some hints of color in this one, as there have been in several copies of the earlier version. That use of color was one of the attractions of the original -- beyond the fact that everything in the original show was a marvel of the age. In the earlier one, the coloring was clearly from hand-tinting. In this one, the entire film appears to have been colored. That might have been a choice f the original film makers, or something done because it was expected.
