Although, we would have loved to see Tabu in an intense role like this, Tabu lashed out against all the rumours speculating that she will be seen in a movie based on External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj. Recently, it was reported by many sources that filmmaker Dhiraj Kumar, who had previously directed ‘Roti, Kapda aur Makaan’ will be making a film on the life of Uzma Ahmed, a woman who was rescued by Sushma Swaraj after being married to a Pakistani national at gunpoint. After fighting a tough battle, Uzma came home on May 25 this year. While Parineeti Chopra’s name was being thrown around for playing Uzma, it was said that Tabu will be seen as Sushma Swaraj. If so, it would have been another biopic in the making in Bollywood.

Happy 100th anniversary, Girl Scout Cookies!
For a century, Girl Scout troops all over the country have been selling boxes of delicious cookies for their annual iconic sale. But how did it all begin? Now that Girl Scout Cookie season is upon us (our freezers are begging to be restocked with Thin Mints!), here’s a look back at its sweet origins.
The first cookie sale dates back to 1917 (five years after the Girl Scouts was founded), when the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma, baked cookies and sold them in a local high school cafeteria as part of a service project.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday had harsh words to say about big names from the film industry who had opted for surrogacy. The politician called out people who had made surrogacy more of a trend than a necessity. Addressing a press conference after the Union Cabinet approved the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill 2016, Sushma Swaraj said that the Bill comes as India has emerged as a surrogacy hub for couples and incidents reported on unethical practices. Further clarifying about the bill she added that while the Bill prohibits commercial surrogacy and allows ethical surrogacy to needy infertile couples, "It also prohibits Single parents, homosexual couples, and live-in relationships couples to opt for altruistic surrogacy." Referring to big celebrities and indirectly taunting Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, Sushma Swaraj added, "Big celebrities who not only have one but two children, a son and a daughter, even then they went ahead with surrogacy.

Dishoom
Starring: John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Akshaye Khanna, Virat Kohli (just kidding) and a dog named Bradman (not kidding)
Directed by Rohit Dhawan
Rating: *** ½
Everybody in Dishoom is shown to be in a tearing hurry. Some, like the flighty Miss Fernandez seem to be running to nowhere quite furiously. But everyone is determined to get some place.
Fast.
Dishoom is one of the most fast-paced Bollywood bromances in recent times. Bromance, it sure is. And a pretty cool one at that. With John Abraham (excellent as the strong silent sturdy he-man type) and Varun Dhawan (endearingly vulnerable clumsy but finally dependable) helming the hyperventilating hi-jinks, director Rohit Dhawan can’t go wrong.
He doesn’t.
Plus there is cricket which as we all know is religion in India. So what happens when Virat, fictionally altered to Viraj, is kidnapped by a mean money machine named Wagah (probably because...

Akshay Kumar recently congratulated External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her team for the success of their Operation Sankat Mochan, where they evacuated over 150 Indians from South Sudan in a speedy process. Taking to social media, Akshay wrote, "Congratulations on the success of Operation #SankatMochan undertaken to evacuate Indians from war-torn South Sudan. Sushma Swaraj General V.K. Singh." Akshay Kumar has always associated himself with special causes. If you have kept tab on the current affairs, you would know that there is rising concern about the Indians who are stranded in Juba, South Sudan. Though the evacuation process is on, people haven't really seen any progress yet. Showing concern on the same issue, Akshay Kumar appealed to the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for the speedy evacuation of the stranded Indians. Akshay wrote, "@SushmaSwaraj Ma'am request for speedy measures and actions to evacuate Indians stranded in Sudan. Prayers with them. #SaveIndiansInJuba." Soon after Akshay Kumar's appeal, Sushma Swaraj responded by assuring him that they are doing their best to get everyone evacuated. She wrote, "Akshay Kumar ji - Pl do not worry. We are evacuating Indian nationals from Juba (South Sudan)." Later, Akshay thanked the politician for her prompt reply and hoped that the government received success in the operation soon.

The fund will target productions that bring benefits to the Scottish film sector and economy.
In what Creative Scotland’s Director of Film & Media, Natalie Usher, is describing as “a really fantastic offering,” the new Scottish $2.7m (£1.75m) Production Growth Fund (Pgf) has launched and is open for applications today.
“It is a fund that will be attractive to feature film and high-end TV drama productions that will be accessing the UK tax credits,” Usher told ScreenDaily.
“What we are trying to do is bring bigger productions here and to hold on to productions from Scottish-based producers who might otherwise go to other nations or parts of the UK.”
Investments from the Pgf are non-recoupable and will reward productions that bring benefits to the Scottish film sector and economy.
A total of £750,000 is available for the period until March 31 2016 and a further £1m is earmarked for 2016/17.

Fiona Hyslop will seek funding for Scottish film in Hollywood.
A clash between the remits of Creative Scotland and Scottish Enterprise is leading to serious problems for the Scottish film industry, a new report has found. The report, produced following an inquiry by the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee, says that Scotland is lagging behind its competitors as a result and recommends that the government take urgent action to resolve the matter. It has also urged immediate action on plans to build a film studio in Scotland.
Creative Scotland was recently given access to new funding and issued a new ten year plan, but the inquiry found that there is still a problem with inadequate strategic planning. It also stressed the importance of investing in local talent rather than in productions which use Scotland as a base before leaving again.

I’m stunned by some of the appointments Tom Wheeler just announced as part of his plan to “hit the ground running.” He snagged Public Knowledge co-founder and CEO Gigi Sohn — one of the smartest advocates in the public interest community — to be Special Counsel for External Affairs. (Public Knowledge says that VP Michael Weinberg and COO Brooke Hunter will become Acting Co-Presidents.) The corporate community also has a tested ally at the new FCC with Philip Verveer, a longtime communications and antitrust lawyer who’ll be Senior Counsel. Verveer and his wife, Melanne, are long-time pals of Bill and Hillary Clinton. “With critical work to be accomplished for the American people and the Internet becoming ever more important in the lives of consumers and businesses across the nation, this team provides an excellent mix of governmental, private-sector and public-interest expertise,” Wheeler says. “They will join the many talented and dedicated professionals of the FCC,...

Johannesburg, Sep 24: Bollywood may have played a central role in making Hindi a vibrant global language but film stars were deliberately kept away from the global Hindi meet here - they would have overshadowed the proceedings had they been invited.
Organisers of the ninth World Hindi Convention, which ended here Monday, said glamour would have taken over if stars like Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan, who have a worldwide following, had been invited.
This would have derailed the agenda of the conference, an organiser told Ians.
The external affairs ministry, which works as a nodal agency for the annual meet, agreed.
Minister of State for External Affairs Praneet Kaur told Ians: "It is an established fact.

After 9/11, security at American airports has been tightened up. America is doing everything in it’s power to make sure another 9/11 does not happen. In order to do that, people who travel to the Us these days, who look different, are coloured, have a strange last name or their name looks similar to a name on the blacklist of Interpol have a chance to be questioned by immigration officials. It happened to actor Shah Rukh Khan this week for the second time in three years.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was late for a prestigious tribute event at Yale University after he was detained for more than two hours at a U.S. airport.
The actor flew into New York's White Plains airport from India en route to a special event at Yale University in Connecticut, where he was due to give a speech to students and be honoured as a Chubb Fellow for his contribution to the arts.
However, the star, who was travelling by private jet, was held by immigration officials for more than two hours before he was eventually released.
He was more than an hour late for his appearance at Yale, but was able to laugh off the incident when he finally started his speech, telling the audience, "Yes, it always happens, it's nice. Whenever I start feeling arrogant about myself, I always take a trip to America. The immigration guys kick the stars out of stardom... They (immigration officials) always ask me how tall I am and I always lie and say five feet, 10 inches. Next time I am going to get more adventurous. (If they ask me) 'What colour are you?', I am going to say white."
The incident echoed a previous trip to America in 2009 when Khan was detained for more than two hours at Newark airport in New Jersey.
India's External Affairs Minister Sm Krishna has revealed American officials have since issued an apology for detaining the star.
He says, "It has become a habit these days to first detain and then apologise. This can't continue."...
