New Clear Farm is wacky, yet dark, like it's predecessor, Tryptych (Daniel DeLoach's previous, award-winning short film). DeLoach lets you get a feel for his characters in the short time the film lasts. He lets you into the world of a farmer and his newly found treasure leading up to an oh so superb finale. Will there be a New Clear Farm II? I think not, my friend. The first and only is the best.

Brilliant social commentary
huntbot26 July 2000
This is obviously a departure from DeLoach's norm of heady, existential angst reflected in his somber, tragic "Tryptych." This work is a biting, poignant social commentary in this all too brief tale of the class struggle of two poor, uneducated, and unwashed farmers and the battles they wage against corporate tyranny, political left-wing agenda, invasion from outer space, and Spanish television programming. A must see for all those with a tender, grieving heart.
