Sex & Nudity

  • A man slaps a girl in the butt, not noticing the fact the "girl" is actually Mulan's male fellow friend in disguise.
  • There is no sex and nudity.

Violence & Gore

  • A horse trips on a small rock, causing Mulan's father to fall off the horse and become unconscious for a moment. Later, it is revealed he has broken a bone.
  • Mulan's father mentions "murderous barbarians".
  • Mulan, now as a "male" soldier, is attacked by three men and tied up in rope. Later, she fights them off.
  • There are several war battle sequences throughout the film.
  • In one battle scene, a man is hit in the chest by an arrow but survives. Little blood can be seen when the arrow is being removed, but disappears miraculously after several seconds.
  • A man is kicked in the butt multiple times.
  • A village is burned by rebels. A man is caught and tied up in rope, and dragged by a horse. But nobody is seen to be hurt or killed.
  • Several people are almost run over by horses.

Profanity

  • A man says "shoot", a milder variant of "shit".

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Some of the war violence may be kinda intense for some younger children, but they are nowhere as intense or scary as the violence shown in the Disney-version (also made in 1998).

  • A large group of rebels invade a city which appears to be empty. Another group of people shows up, with arrows aimed solely at the villainous leader. No violence occurs.
