Drunk-driving puppet
EdgarST2 May 2004
A remarkable animation piece (in the copies of the American DVD, Trnka is only credited as art director, but apparently it's his work) seems to be a cautionary short tale against drunk driving. A young motorcyclist is on the way to see his bride. He stops in a pub where a wedding is taking place, and he is asked to join the celebration. He drinks a couple of extra champagne cups and leaves to continue his trip with the sensation of being the King of the Road. The final minutes are the best as he races frantically against a train and airplane. There's a recurring red poster (in English) that appears every now and then warning of the dangers of drunk driving that I do not know if its equivalent in Czech was in the original movie. In any case, it's redundant.
