Straight-up career retrospective
Leofwine_draca15 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
JACKIE CHAN: MY STORY is a nice little straight-to-video documentary exploring the life in film of the world's number one martial artist. Sure, it's dated and cheesy in places, but it's also fast-paced and cheerful and features plenty of interview clips with the man himself. As expected, this documentary is padded out with various fight scenes from Jackie's movies dating between the 1970s and the 1990s. More interestingly, it has brief interview snippets - often culled from behind-the-scenes footage or red carpet news footage - with various celebrities chatting about the great man. There's little to dislike about this enjoyable effort overall.

Only a scratch on the surface that is Jackie Chan's career

I really hope there will be a updated documentary of Jackie Chan in the future, having both done more films by now and also with people appreciating the art even more now. There are lots of interesting interviews in the film, but they're either cut down very short or with a voice-over dub on both Jackie's father as well as Sammo Hung, I would've love to hear more from those two.

This short documentary is also very 90s in its editing and style; americanized and shallow, without much depth. For the time it was released it was probably a great piece for those that wanted to know more about Jackie, but now with the internet, you can find so much more about him and his films. I didn't learn anything new from this documentary, but Jackie is always a great presence, both in front and behind the camera.

About the same as JC: My Stunts
ersbel5 February 2020
This movie is about the same as Jackie Chan : My Stunts. In My Story the story is of a far better quality and polish than in My Stunts, but the information is much lower. Back in the day it was probably more interesting, but now it barely adds value to the Wikipedia page.
