When innocence, mischief and guilt cross paths..
rtoac126 February 2023
This is a Malayalam language film starring Ashokan, Idavela Babu and Nalini in key roles.

Based on a story by the genius P Padmarajan, you can ponder and realise that he's written it with the intent of exploring the theme of the contradictions in the human mind - best expressed in youth (suppressed or expressed while keeping under wraps in life typically thereafter). The primary ones being innocence, mischief, love and guilt.

The film here lays the characters bare. They are youngsters, knowing right from wrong but wanting to explore. They are a cocktail of pure innocence being confused by hormonal changes and peer pressure. The actors thus have been given good roles to test their talent. And they've done really well. Idavela Babu earned his film prefix for his natural performance in this film. Nalini is charming and fits the role with a realistic performance.

But Ashokan is really the central character. In his extended career playing primarily side roles, there have been many an occasion where Ashokan has played complex characters with ease. He performs naturally without trying to emulate anyone or be conscious of his looks and physical frame. And this has won him many villainous and grey shaded roles. He could even play the fun loving hero's sidekick or vulnerable roles with ease. This talent is well showcased in this film.

The mental angst of a college youth is hard to fathom. What they really need are good role models. The sad ending here will leave a lasting impression on the viewer.
