Addictive Show
Saturnblue31122 September 2002
Like most MTV shows (The Real World, Daria, Undressed) this show was pure fun and addictive. Though, this show was part soap opera part the aforementioned Undressed. It's trashy, wicked fun. I thought it was practically delicious! LOL. The cast seemed too perform well, despite most of it's overwrought plots.

A hi-tech soap opera
coverme628 June 2001
A late-night soap opera with hi-tech overtones, SPYDER GAMES proves to be a slick entry. The misadventures of the kids of a dead mogul are shown in different emotional categories, whether it be love, jealousy, or greed. MTV created yet another kind of personal roller coaster rides in the lives of young people, much like UNDRESSED. Only this time, the storylines of SPYDER GAMES are a lot more intriguing than mundane sex stories like in UNDRESSED.

Singel handely MTV's BEST SERIES EVER!...
popular_fan_4ever17 February 2002
Okay so SPYDER GAMES will never win an EMMY, or GOLDEN GLOBE, Okay so it will never win any award, but it is definetly one of the most engaging and intriguing series i have ever seen. The plots and sub-plots are shocking and hilarous and moving and dramatic. The acting is what u should expect from what is made up of mostly newcomers. however soem performances, like those of Shawn Batten, and Christina Chambers are standouts! The guys are goodlooking, like byron fields (the incredably sexy Ivan), Bryce Mouer (Lyle), and the hottest of them all the one and only Dimitri Carlise himself (cannot remember his name). The writing is aboslutley great! i would recommend this show to anyone that is into sexy, escaptist fun! bravo to MTV for creating and airing such a brillant, sexy and overall great series!

People are seriously wondering why this show got canceled?
COMPFUNK229 September 2003
Who in their right mind would turn to MTV for a soap opera? Spyder Games' sole existence was obviously because MTV had 30 minutes to use up, which could have easily been done by showing some Cribs reruns or, here's a thought.some VIDEOS?

It's not that the acting was bad, it's that the characters were uninteresting and the storylines went nowhere. I'm glad this show got laid to rest quick.

decent attempt at a soap
KSSunset120 June 2001
okay, so this isnt a GREAT show or anything..but it is a lot of fun...kinda like "passions"..the story line is obvious, most of the performances are to be expected of the unexperienced cast..but a few do stand out..shawn batten is great! so are a couple other perfs. watch spyder games if you want a little escapism..not to watch a show that will win any awards.

Very hip soap with one hot actor
starsaturn3321 June 2001
Okay. This is my new favorite soap opera. "Spyder Games" basically deals with the corrupt and out of whack Carslile family, and their father Boris, who created the video game corporation known as Spyder Games. Dimitri Carslile is back in Fort Kent after a stint in Hollywood, and the only daughter Natalia is busy as a powerless vp at the company. The youngest of the Carslile brood, Sasha (and, by the way, is a dead on lookalike w/ Ryan Philippe), is busy getting his rear end in all sorts of trouble and gettin his freak on w/ someone that is seven years older than him-the beautiful 23-year old Taylor. Little does he know that his best girl friend Cherish Pardee is head over heels in love w/ him. Meanwhile, the second oldest Carslile, Ivan, is getting ready to marry his sweetheart Kate. May I add that Ivan and Natalia both hate their father, while Dimitri is the pet and Sasha is spoiled w/ Boris' lax attitude. What happens next?? Well, you're just gonna hafta find out. Okay, time for the review! This is a great show. Funny subplots, very delicately worked mysteries, and kickass scandals that'll make you gasp. See the wedding episode and see what I mean. It's crazy! I think my favorite female character is the owner of Come-On's Boutique (Daphne), where Taylor and Cherish both work. She's hilarious and wacky and totally into soap operas. She misses an intricate part of the plot because she was tuned in to BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, for god's sake! I don't like Taylor. She's a total B**** for telling Cherish to go for Sasha while secretly boinking him in the janitor closet!...Okay okay, you got me...my favorite male character has GOT to be the most BEAUTIFUL man I've EVER SEEN, Sasha Carslile. He is SO GORGEOUS! And I totally think that Robert Hutchinson (the guy who plays him) will go really far. All in all, watch "Spyder Games"!

Can you ask for a more thrilling show?
RigidAmbition12 November 2005
Can you honestly ask the writers of the world for a more thrilling soap opera directed toward the younger generations? NO! Spyder Games was an immense combination of drama of all types: from gossip and deceit to disrespect and MURDER. The show had everything you could ask for, and if it was allowed a longer run with better advertisement, I am almost positive that it would've done better than any other soap opera out there! Much better than some of the teen dramas now, at least. The plots were very well written and extremely unpredictable. You could never point your finger in one direction for more than a couple of episodes before you were back to the beginning and left in suspense! You could never figure out what would happen next, but when it did, it was the perfect story. I, personally, watched this show religiously until the very final episode and I would give my left arm to see it back on the air. Okay...maybe I wouldn't give up any limbs but I would definitely shave my head for an entire year. BRAVO TO THE CREATORS! GREAT JOB! And, just a side note, any writers from Spyder Games would make a phenomenal team with the writers of Nip/Tuck to shock us over and over again. :]

MTV should stick to music videos
moon_song125 June 2001
This is probably, by far, the worst show ever made. It reminds me of the show "Undressed" aired on the same channel, except it's missing the sex theme. And for anyone who has seen that show, you know what I am talking about. I can't figure out what's worse: the writing, the actors, or the set design. I think it's a toss up between them all. The writing is predictable and horrible at that. This is only reinforced by poor acting by all, except for one or two of the cast members. I knew "Undressed" was bad, but I thought it was on purpose. This show takes itself WAY too seriously for what it truly is. So, I recommend this if you want a good laugh. But, sadly, you just end up laughing AT them...not WITH them.

Spyder Games is the GREATEST!
spring_4_me_200028 August 2001
I work an 8:00am to 5:00pm job and so I never get to watch soaps during the day. However, I really enjoy watching Spyder Games on MTV. I always make sure I am home at 7:00 to watch it. If I do miss it I try to stay up for the 11:00 show. It is really kind-of cheesy, but that is what makes it so cool. I hope MTV NEVER cancels it. I hope to see the show for many, many years! Long Live Spyder Games!!!

Good to watch for some but not all
Star132927 July 2001
Okay, yeah I watch the show everynight at 10:00. It's okay but it keeps my intrest. Not to mention Robert Hutchinson(Sasha) Joseph Cacia(Dmirti) and Bryce Mouer(Lyle) aren't bad looking. And they also have a few good looking women. Some actors stand out a little more. Like Shawn Batten(Natalia) and Joseph are little more oveouis. But the other cast hasn't had too much experince, but wiht time I think they will be know for their ablties, than looks. So if you're up at 10:00 and borad you can click to MTV. Lets say that it's a lot better than MTV's "Undressed".(alot better with the acting)

Not great in the beginning but...
imacharmed0ne10 August 2001
As the story progresses it became quite interesting. It certainly moves at a faster pace than the traditional daytime soap. Certainly MUCH better than that other nebie soap Passions in my opinion. Shawn Batten is excellent and rocks and I hope to see her in more in the future.

Undressed plus...
dmboyer131 July 2001
This show is exactly why I am a slave to MTV's target marketing, even if I'm not in the TRL demographic! Understandably, it's not very cerebral, but it's what I look for when I hit MTV; it's engagingly entertaining. I enjoy the storylines on 'Undressed', but this show - since it's a serial - can expand on the relationships beyond a week or two. The interview of Byron Field (Ivan) in OUT was what got me interested in watching, and I haven't been disappointed. And from singing telegram girl to coffeeshop owner, I haven't gotten to see this much of Jane Wiedlin outside of E! in a long time! The only recommendation I have is to let Natalia quote Dolores Claiborne more often. I hope it keeps rolling...

I have to say, this is the first "Soap" I have ever liked!
JadedAngel0017 August 2001
I could do without any other of these dumb, cheesy drama shows. But in my opinion, this show is like a up-to-date twisted soap. It is relatively good. Every episode has something you don't expect. I will admit, it is a little cheesy. (All soaps are.) But the actors are good at least! I can't wait to find out what happens - and I hope this show isn't canceled. ***** of *****

A sinful indulgence...
another dustin2 October 2001
So maybe _Spyder Games_ is not the most original show on television. And maybe the actors are a little green. And well, yeah, the story lines are a bit predictable. But so what? _Spyder Games_ is less an original soap and more an homage to the genre. And when it comes to the completely empty calories and mindless entertainment soaps provide, _Spyder Games_ is spot on.

The creators of the show are self-proclaimed longtime soap fans, and it clearly shows in their work. SG utilises practically every plot twist and character flaw classique ever used, save the ground-breaking [don't laugh] Ivan-is-gay story line. (Well, Erica's daughter is a lesbian on _All My Children_, so perhaps 'unprecedented' is more appropriate. Gay men are indeed a soap rarity.) And while the plot may seem a bit trite, there's something amusing and comfortable in such blatant cliché.

SG really deserves kudos for its campy experience in escapism. If anything, it offers its viewers a half hour out of the day to abandon all faculties of the brain and space out in its mindlessness. Its one stroke of true genius is a cast including _Sunset Beach_ alum Shawn Batten and Christina Chambers, Go-Go's guitarist and green-haired pixie Jane Wiedlin, and the John Waters Baroness Mink Stole. Beyond that, it's just brilliant. And not in the conventional sense, but rather in its reverence to the housewife-stories from which it was born.
