"Daryu tebe zvezdu" or "I Give you a Star" is a Soviet 8-minute animated short film from 1975, so this one had its 40th anniversary last year. The writer and director is Fyodor Khitruk, one of the most successful Soviet filmmakers back then and this one here is also among his more known works, despite how short it is. The first half of the film takes place during the days of hunting and collecting a long long time ago and we find out what life was like back then. And especially what love was like. Love is the core topic in this little movie as we progress through time with the protagonist and his beloved one and how he wants to give her a star. The modern day references in terms of spaceships and exploration of space is a fitting conclusion to the protagonist's plan. But still this was not a good watch. It never felt romantic, funny or interesting enough to let me recommend it and it feels as if everything after the first time period was very much rushed in. I cannot recommend the watch. I've seen better from Khitruk. Thumbs down.
