All Nxt talent are scheduled to be backstage at this weekend’s Royal Rumble, and at least a couple of debuts are almost certainly going to be on the agenda.
It is the perfect move for WWE to pull, a simple way they can create buzz with an unexpected appearance. It is also a great introduction to main roster life for whoever gets the gig.
Several Nxt wrestlers are ready for the call up, with some having been ready for over a year now. In analysing the likeliest debuts, this list will be kept to eight names, as the following men represent the genuine contenders for a spot in the match.
With only eighteen names confirmed by WWE for the Rumble, and with Dave Meltzer reporting that “surprises” will happen, the following Nxt talent could be on the main roster this Sunday.

By far the biggest talk among the wrestling landscape for the past two weeks has been WWE’s apparent raid of New Japan Pro Wrestling talents Aj Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson.
Even WWE.com, who surely wouldn’t tease something they wouldn’t deliver, have written more than one article about the rumour of the four men coming to the biggest wrestling organisation on the planet.
At this point, there’s barely any reason to doubt that they have offers on the table and that they will either sign, or have already signed to come to WWE. The bigger question has been just where and when the individuals will make their presence known.
As suggested by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, “big surprises” are expected for next Sunday’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view, with the clear hint being that at least a few...

Aj Styles still hasn’t signed his WWE deal. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that as of this morning, Styles hadn’t put pen to paper. However, Meltzer concluded that Styles was going to be coming in.
“I can tell you factually as of this morning that Aj Styles still hasn’t signed, but they’re all coming in,” he said.
Styles isn’t under contract to anyone else and could of signed the deal straight away. There’s no word on what the delay is, but Meltzer sounded assured that the talented thirty eight year old would be starring for WWE soon.
Styles is a wrestler who has appeared on Observer Radio in the past, and Meltzer is likely to know his current situation. The hold up could just be like what happened with Sting a few years ago, where the WCW Icon didn’t...

Finn Balor has posted a teaser on his Instagram, signalling that WWE could be about to do a “Balor Club” angle with New Japan’s Bullet Club members.
Kitted out in his old Bullet Club t-shirt, Balor is pictured outside of the WWE Performance Center. He’s checking his watch, and posted the caption “They should have been here by now….”
This follows insider speculation and wwe.com’s own story about New Japan’s top stars potentially signing with WWE. Aj Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson are all thought to be set for a WWE run in the near future.
Balor’s picture shows an open door to the WWE Performance Center, with a sign reading “WWE Employees Only.”
There’s speculation that Balor himself could be going up the main roster, alongside the new signings. With WWE’s own website detailing Balor’s history with the Bullet Club,...

There’s a possibility that Triple H will win the Royal Rumble WWE Title match to set up a main event with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 32.
Dave Meltzer commented on Wrestling Observer Radio “It makes it real interesting. We know that Roman Reigns and Triple H is going to happen. But now, there’s the idea that Reigns beats 28 guys, then Triple H beats him to win the Rumble.”
Co-host Bryan Alvarez added “Well, Vince did say Hunter was going to get his revenge and you weren’t going to see it coming.”
There’s always the possibility that Reigns and Hunter clash at Fastlane, but surely the WrestleMania 32 magnitude could factor into Hunter’s decision when booking this feud.
The other idea for Reigns, would be that he wins the Rumble and retains his title. That would be a way to really put him over, although there...

Aj Styles and several other big name New Japan wrestlers are headed to WWE.
Dave Meltzer is reporting on Wrestling Observer Radio that Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson have agreed their deals but weren’t signed for Nxt. They will be main roster stars and could factor in as “surprises” at Royal Rumble.
Meltzer also noted that “They do have a Balor club idea.”
If that was the plan, presumably Balor would be going up the main roster in conjunction with the new group. From a merchandising view, that would be a good money idea.
Styles isn’t under contract in Japan and has been pulled from Ring Of Honor dates. He isn’t taking any further bookings going forward. He seems very likely for a debut in the Rumble match. Meltzer states “There will be surprises in the Royal Rumble, that should tell you part of this.

Ever since the WWE Network was launched, Pay-Per-View has been less of a priority for WWE. With the traditional monthly events becoming part of the $9.99 subscription package and most dedicated fans having access to them (whether they watch them or not), there’s been less of an onus for the company to deliver matches and angles that demand a hefty price tag. It’s subscription numbers that keep the ship afloat… or is it?
This week in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Pay-Per-View buyrates – bolstered by fans in areas where the Network is not yet readily available – are actually higher than the company expected. In fact, while Network subscription numbers are still short of WWE’s goals, PPV buys are actually offsetting some of that financial gap. The analysis came hot on the heels of the news that October’s Hell in a Cell show did a respectable 87,000 buys worldwide.

WWE have decided that the Royal Rumble 2016 will take place on January 24 in Orlando, running the same day as the Afc/Nfc Title games in the NFL.
The Nfc Title game is scheduled to start at 6:40pmET on January 24 while the Rumble would start at 8pmET, unless they make it a four hour show.
It’s newsworthy because normally WWE would schedule the Rumble on the Sunday in-between the Afc/Nfc Title when the NFL game is the Pro Bowl, which is just a meaningless exhibition game.
WWE.com
A big reason why it’s smart to schedule the Rumble in the week where there are no NFL playoff games is because last year’s Nfc Title game had an audience of 49.8 million viewers, that peaked to as high as 57 million viewers. The Afc title game, which had the primetime start earlier this year, had about 42 million...

As soon as the word spread that Samoa Joe was quitting Tna, wrestling fans started to wonder if WWE would finally be interested in signing the soon to be 36-year-old Samoan Submission Machine. Apparently, the answer is yes.
According to Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Radio, Joe and WWE have already held preliminary discussions about the possibility; “I know he’s got offers from WWE. I don’t know the details of them, but I know they’re there.”
He also mentioned that several other companies are interested in Joe like New Japan Pro Wrestling, Lucha Underground and he could find a lot of work doing indies every weekend the way so many wrestlers do on a regular basis.
What we know for sure is that Joe’s next place of employment is Ring of Honor. They released a Youtube video promoting it with Joe signed for several shows...

WWE will no longer be numbering WrestleMania shows. Instead, symbols are being used for WrestleMania 31 and 32 branding. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said the removal of numbers could be “because Vince thinks it makes it sound too old.”
The change means that WrestleMania 31 will become WrestleMania. To distinguish it, there’ll be a ‘play’ button in the Mania logo, which is meant to represent silicon valley. The show is of course airing just a short drive from Silicon Valley, in Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium on March 29th
WrestleMania 32 will take place on April 3rd 2016. The WWE held a press conference last week to confirm that it would be held at the 100,000 capacity Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas. They also revealed the branding, which was in keeping with the decision to do away with numbers. Instead, the branding was the WrestleMania name with a star logo.
