Fly through a huge alien creature to rescue your beloved
This game is a blatant ripoff of the game Lifeforce that was released by one of the best gaming companies back in the day Konami. They are still around, but they have lost a bit of luster as their games just are not what they used to be. Back to this game though, it is simply Milton Bradley's attempt to get into video games and they do pretty much make a game that is just like Lifeforce in a lot of ways. You fly through a huge beast, at times battling its innards. The power ups in the game are for the most part like those found in Lifeforce and at a couple of points in the game you can tell they are ripping off the exact sound effects from another Konami game, Contra. However, all the negative aside, it is a fun space shooter type game...albeit, extremely difficult.
The story, well from what I can gather...Captain What's His Face must fly into the belly of the beast. His mission, do as much damage as he can to the huge monster that may have engulfed the Earth. He does this so that he may rescue his beloved, What's Her Name from the center of this super massive creature. That is about all there is to it. The game play is standard for a game of this type. You have your stages where you have a side view and over the top view. You get power ups to make yourself have a chance to win, once again this game is very hard! Then in the middle of the stage you fight a mini boss and at the end of the stage you fight a super big nasty boss, who is usually the easiest part of the stage. Seriously, there is usually a dead zone where none of the monster's attacks will hit you and you can just keep shooting and eventually win.
So, while this game is nothing special, on the short side and basically a ripoff of the superior game, Lifeforce, it still has a bit of charm to it. The difficulty is insane during the stage and easy once you get to the last boss. The graphics are pretty good and at least they are a bit unique. The music is okay, but tends to repeat to much. Worth a play if you can find it for cheap or download it free. You get a real sense of accomplishment when you have defeated the final boss and made your escape!
