If you feel like you’re getting too involved in your work where you aren’t in a high position, people are going to oppose you. Well, that’s what’s up with Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani ever since the actress had some comments about the MCU.
In another round of pass or fail, Iman Vellani’s wishes were, unfortunately, opposed by the people as the actress eyed another grand MCU project. With her character being a mutant, Vellani’s next target was none other than the X-Men franchise, but people want to keep her away from it!

Has Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird been outed as a hypocrite after stealing other brands’ merchandise? It appears that she is telling people how they must act in business when she has not been behaving properly. How so? Read on for more details.
Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird Outed As Hypocrite, Stealing Merch
As part of making money and building her business, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird promotes items on social media. She claims that she is selling things that she makes for her company, The Sisters Closet. However, much of that has been disputed when she and her sister, Honey Boo Boo were caught scamming customers. They were found to be selling inexpensive items from other companies and then upselling them. Additionally, they have been caught promoting overpriced dupes. This was one of the main reasons why Pumpkin was not able to be a part of her local vendor fair. She did not have enough...

Looking to build out on its impressive film slate on a piece of IP they are all too familiar with, Apple said it is developing a new, untitled Peanuts feature film from WildBrain and Peanuts Worldwide.
Slated to begin production in 2024 from WildBrain Studios, the new family film will see the Peanuts gang go on an epic adventure to the Big City, learning the true meaning of friendship while meeting some surprising new friends along the way.
The screenplay is co-written by Karey Kirkpatrick from an original story by co-writers Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano, who wrote the 2015 feature film The Peanuts Move. That film’s director Steve Martino will helm the new pic, which will be produced by two-time Oscar nominee Bonnie Arnold.
“Fans of all ages have been enamored with Peanuts on Apple TV+,” said Tara Sorensen, Apple’s head of children’s programming. “With our unmatched library of Peanuts titles,...

The great irony of Halloween is that in subjecting ourselves to scares of the kitschy seasonal-grocery-aisle variety, we somehow inoculate ourselves, for a moment, the Irl horrors that so consistently plague us each day online in the news each day. But horror movies and other October-end entertainments aren’t necessarily always simply a distraction. Just as often they’re an honest expression of universal human anxieties, dressed up in a foul-smelling rubber mask from the ad-hoc aisles of your local Spirit Halloween retail outlet.
Why we love it: October is the ideal and most obvious time to revisit Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Though each Halloween episode of the series is wonderful in its own way (shout-out to sexy-ghost Willow), it’s “Fear, Itself” that I still watch every year. The Scooby Gang finds themselves trapped inside a fraternity house of horrors, as fear demon “Gachnar” exploits their deepest anxieties I...

Let’s just be honest: being scared isn’t fun. At least, not for everyone. So entering Halloween — aka “spooky season” — can be pretty hard, especially when it comes to finding movies to watch. Well, it’s a good thing you’re here.
Because the thing is, Halloween movies are a core piece of celebrating the holiday. You get together with friends, you break into the candy early, turn off all the lights and get cozy for the night. But if you’re a big ol’ scaredy cat (like this writer is more than secure enough to admit she is), those nights are significantly harder.
So, we went ahead and rounded up 13 of the best Halloween movies that you’ll be guaranteed to still get a good, nightmare-free sleep after.

Chinese real estate giant Evergrande has sold its entire remaining stake in the film and TV streaming company HengTen Networks Group for $273 million, part of efforts to avoid defaulting on its massive debts.
The world’s most indebted developer, some $300 billion in the red, is struggling to meet interest payments on its loans, and has been selling off shares to raise funds.
At the beginning of the year, Evergrande owned a majority stake in Netflix-like HengTen. In July, it sold a 7% stake to Chinese tech giant Tencent for around $266 million. Last week, it sold a further 5.7% stake for about $145 million, the BBC said. HengTen’s name is a portmanteau made up of the first characters for Chinese names of Evergrande and Tencent.

Nothing sparks the end of a relationship like learning your partner implanted a chip in your brain. Yet despite that horror and the “gilded cage” in which Byron trapped Hazel, a clean break still isn’t in the cards for them.

Quentin Tarantino had created his own cinematic universe two decades before Kevin Feige had the idea, with all of the filmmaker’s work being connected in some fashion whether it be through indirect references to previous events, fictional product placement or characters that turn out to be distant relatives to people we’ve met before.
Everyone is aware of the various threads of the Tarantinoverse, but a new theory is going one step further and claiming that Pulp Fiction is a direct prequel to Reservoir Dogs, which certainly suits the Jackie Brown director’s love of a nonlinear narrative.
It all starts with Steve Buscemi’s cameo as a waiter in Pulp Fiction, which is apparently the reason why Mr. Pink is so against the idea of tipping, because the actor is playing the same character both times. Later on, when The Wolf shows up to help Jules and Marsellus deal with a body,...

Jelly Bean was Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s three-legged Pomeranian mix — and a beloved companion of hers. She got the dog years ago and the pair have been inseparable. Mama June started dating someone and Alana was left feeling like the fifth wheel with everyone else in a relationship. “I got Jelly Bean, but it’s the only person I got,” Alana told her dad Sugar Bear and his […]

It’s that time of the year again, folks. Black Friday shoppers are licking their proverbial chops and hoping they don’t get trampled in the fracas. Pumpkin-spice flavored everything is still all the rage, even extending to burgers. (I wish you could make this shit up.) And on top of all that, the holiday movie season – which saw the release of some of the year’s best films, including “Foxcatcher” and “Interstellar” – is almost wrapped up. While there are still a handful of major films to look forward to in December, the year is all but over and with the gradual trickling-in of pre-Oscar hype comes the annual batch of Roundtable Discussions. And the latest focuses on this year’s leading ladies, featuring Hilary Swank (“The Homesman”), Julianne Moore (“Still Alice”), Reese Witherspoon (“Wild”), Patricia Arquette (“Boyhood”), Amy Adams (“Big Eyes”), Laura Dern (“Wild” again) and Felicity Jones...

Jaws from James Bond
One movie character who scared me as a child was Jaws, the shiny-toothed James Bond villain. Those silver teeth freaked me out, big time – I remember the early sequence from The Spy Who Loved Me was particularly chilling: Jaws lures a defenceless older man into a trap, and proceeds to bite into his neck, killing him. While we're shown no violence, the whole scene terrified me: the way Jaws walked slowly towards the man in a knowing, menacing way, and the idea of him simply biting the man to death (though at least he had the courtesy to stun the victim first).
Being bitten by Jaws isn't like being bitten by a vampire – he drinks no blood. Instead, he just seems to sink those artificial teeth into flesh and tear a hole big enough to cause fatal bleeding. Whenever I'd watch that scene, it made me deeply uncomfortable,...

Trespassers Will Be Eaten
Perhaps a less eye-grabbing, but still “driving” title for this third Mubi soundtrack mix should be Shifting Gears...as such, it’s a free-falling, propulsive survey of scores focusing on the thriller in all of its manifestations: detective procedurals, bank heists, neo-noirs, spy films, psychodramas, giallos, chases, races, and sci-fi mind-games. Featured also are a few composers better known for their more famous musical projects. Police drummer Stewart Copeland’s metallic, rhythmic score for Rumble Fish, gamely taunts the self-conscious black and white street theatre of Francis Ford Coppola's film. So-called fifth Beatle, producer George Martin’s funky Shaft-influenced Live and Let Die score ushers in a more leisurely 70s-era James Bond, as incarnated by Roger Moore. Epic crooner visionary Scott Walker’s fatally romantic melodies for Leos Carax’s inventively faithful Melville adaptation Pola X is remarkably subdued and lush.

The London Olympics and their Paul McCartney-fronted opening ceremonies are over and we're deep into the actual competition as we wait impatiently for the Closing Ceremony to fulfill our Spice Girls reunion dreams.
And while montages set to the "Chariots of Fire" theme may be the first image that comes to mind in times like these -- and perhaps the Belle and Sebastian "The Stars of Track and Field" scene from Pumpkin, second -- we've found 15 others that should (but, alas, don't) easily trump these. Race car sound effects and all.

Chicago – About 15 years ago, a controversy erupted over a new film version of Vladimir Nabokov’s classic novel, “Lolita.” The version was to be closer in spirit to the original novel, and therefore more open about a older man’s obsession with an underage teenage girl. Taking on the young girl role of Dolores Haze, Aka “Lolita,” was the actress Dominque Swain.
Swain was picked for the character after applications for the role numbered around 2500. Not only were the filmmakers for this new imagining of the novel fighting the censorship, but they were also competing against the version directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1962, who worked off a script from the original author and turned the May-December creepiness into broad satire.
At the center of the storm was Dominque Swain. Only 14 years old when the filming began, she took on one of the most notorious title roles ever created. She has...

Look how happy she is! And we are too. Why? Because we made it.
After a tumultuous season interrupted by heartbreak, frustrations and well, interruptions, we enter a seven-episode stretch of new "Bones" that will take us to that potentially game-changing finale.
Dare we think of what that might mean? Not yet. There are two way too disgusting things that demand our attention first: feet (gross in any context) and a body farm.
The closest thing to Disneyland for Brennan (Emily Deschanel), body farms are real facilities, run by universities, in which human remains are studied in various states of decomposition. The fact that this is our first time hearing of them six seasons is another shining example of the kind of restraint our "Bones" crew possesses.
Romance, pregnancies and interpersonal issues within the Jeffersonian gang are almost completely sidelined tonight, so it's going to be a squint-heavy recap. Onward!

Last year, Liliana Greenfield-Sanders (my multi-talented daughter) produced and directed "Adelaide", an award winning short. Actually, "Adelaide" won ten awards, including both the Grand Jury Prize & Audience Award at Gen Art, Best Short film at Woodstock and New Orleans, Audience Awards & Special Jury Prizes at Austin, Indie Memphis, BeFilm, First Run and screened at over 50 more festivals. "Adelaide" also won a National Board of Review Student Grant Award. The film stars Anna Margaret Hollyman, Hank Harris (Pumpkin), and Damian Young (Californication, The Comeback). Her friend Gregori Viens, whom she met on the festival circuit, is the main attraction with "Punching the Clown," which Sarah Silverman calls "the best movie about comedy" and the Village Voice says "may be the funniest movie ever made about trying to hold on to one's artistic integrity in an image-obsessed world." This...

"Kick-Ass" actress Chloe Moretz was among those tweeting good thoughts to Nicolas Cage and his family following the death of his father August Coppola this week. A literature professor and the brother of director Francis Ford Coppola, he reportedly died following a heart attack on Tuesday.
In other tweets, David Slade slipped a fresh image into his Twitter feed of actor Xavier Samuel from "Eclipse," which he says is the first look at Samuel's character Riley in the film. A couple of "Twilight" actors tweeted last minute contemplations over their Halloween costumes, while Edgar Wright may be giving up altogether and Russell Brand decried jack-o-lanterns as symbols for the season. Check out what they all had to say after the jump. It's in the Twitter-Wood report for October 30, 2009.

Welcome to another edition of TV or Not TV where I never cease to be amazed by Fox.
Just last week the Fox network put out a press release about the exciting programming we could expect for the sweeps season. In the day-by-day breakdown we were informed of all of the pending action, drama and great guest stars coming up on Dollhouse. The network also started sending out press screener copies of the next two installments of Dollhouse to wet critic appetites to show them the forthcoming Whedonistic brilliance so they could shout from the rooftops to tell the masses to watch for they would be amazed! What is the network now doing to cash in on this? Apparently they have decided to put the show on the backburner during sweeps and instead air repeats of House and Bones.
Joss Whedon commented on this situation via whedonesque.com. Here’s an excerpt:

Warner Bros. Television has signed actress Marisa Coughlan to a talent holding deal. Coughlan (Super Troopers) is no stranger to the perils of pilot season, having been passed over this year for Kat Plus One, the WBTV sitcom produced with Greg Berlanti and Mickey Liddell in which she had the lead role. The actress was also in the ensemble cast of the short-lived ABC series Wasteland in 1999. Pleased with her turn in Kat, WBTV will look to either develop a vehicle for Coughlan this pilot season or cast her in another capacity. Coughlan's credits include Teaching Mrs. Tingle, Pumpkin and Freddy Got Fingered. Coughlan is repped by ICM and Untitled Entertainment.
Dominique Swain has joined Thora Birch, Jena Malone, Marla Sokoloff and Anna Faris in Richard Zelniker's indie rock 'n' roll drama Vinyl. Shooting starts at the end of next month. Vinyl follows the story of a group of women behind a male rock 'n' roll band that is on the verge of breakout success. Swain will star as a groupie who is hot after the band's lead singer. The male cast members are expected to be announced shortly. Birch is producing along with Bill Bannerman and Tom Rooker. Zelniker is directing from his own script. Swain next stars opposite Dennis Hopper in Out of Season. She recently signed on for representation with Paradigm Talent & Literary and is additionally repped by Leverage Management. Her other credits include Lolita, Tart, Pumpkin and The Job.

Andy Serkis, best known as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and up-and-coming actor Samuel Ball have landed key roles opposite Jennifer Garner in Revolution Studios' 13 Going on 30 for director Gary Winnick. The film follows a 13-year-old girl named Jenna who dreams of being popular. During her birthday party, she plays the kissing game Seven Minutes in the Closet. The game turns out to be a humiliating experience for her, and she refuses to come out of the closet. When she does emerge, she finds herself five days shy of her 30th birthday. Serkis plays the boss of adult Jenna (Garner), while Ball plays her boyfriend, a New York Rangers hockey player. Mark Ruffalo and Judy Greer also star. Susan Arnold and Donna Arkoff Roth are producing the project with Gina Matthews. Kathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith wrote the script. Both actors are repped by the Gersh Agency. Serkis last starred on the big screen in 24 Hour Party People. Ball has appeared in such films as the United Artists/American Zoetrope's Pumpkin and DreamWorks Pictures' The Last Castle.
