Not So Good As A Thriller Standards
ravisinger866 March 2014
China Town Directed By Shakti Samanta Is A Thriller/ Drama Movie Which Has Shammi Kapoor & Shakila In Lead ...Its About Two Brothers Who Are Separated ...Early Days When Separated & Reunite Formula Was Used ...One Is A Young Singer & Other One Is A Gangster ...So Movies Revolves Around These Two Characters ...Shammi Kapoor As A Gangster Gives Good Performance...Shakila Is OK ...The Music Of The Movie Is Not That Good...The Script Is Not That Convincing For A So Called Thriller Movie...Lack Of Thrills ...Lack Of Ideas ...But This Movie Was A Source Of Inspiration For Movie Like Don ...Overall OK Movie ...Not So Good Or Bad Either.

Decent Thriller
silvan-desouza2 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Shakti Samantha started his career with thrillers like China Town(1962) which was a hit at the B.O. It had Shammi Kapoor in a double role, The film also was source of Inspiration for DON(1978). The film is taut for most of the time. The film is quick paced, it does have normal song and dance too but the thrills are well handled. The film manages to keep you involved throughout

Direction is awesome Music is good, Baar baar Dekho became a rage, other songs too are good

Shammi Kapoor is superb in both the roles, he handles both roles with elan Shakila is good, Madan Puri is good, Helen is okay, others are all good

China Town(1962) is undoubtedly a best thriller of 60's.Those who love to watch black and white thrillers must watch this movie. The movie begins ordinarily and within minutes the movie becomes thrilling till the end. This movie is an best example For thrillers made in India. What makes this thriller best is the Cinematography. The villains are itself thrilling in this movie.A best thriller with best villains.Comparable to other thrillers like Bees Saal Baad (1962) and Woh Kaun Thi (1964) this movie has very much best thrills. The actor thrills the audiences through his roles.A thrilling story with best fight scenes.I would describe this thriller as best because The story and the scenes are to be found new for Indian audiences who watched this movie.
