This is an odd little short. It appears to be truncated. Although the film was 8 minutes long and IMDb lists it at that, the movie just seems to start--and there are no credits. Then, inexplicably, someone added sound narration many years later. The guy talking sounds like the old guy who used to be on the Pepperidge Farms commercials. Some of his comments are pretty dumb, some somewhat funny--regardless, it wasn't necessary.
The film didn't have any big stars for 1916, though you'll probably recognize a younger Oliver Hardy. It's a story about two hillbilly families who get along great until one day, with very little provocation, they begin feuding. Interestingly, people ONLY seem to get shot in the butt and it all appears to be a lot of fun--until dreaded revenuers arrive.
The film, unfortunately, isn't very funny. If your idea of fun is watching hillbillies endlessly shoot at each other for laughs, then by all means watch it. But the gags aren't there and it's all a bit tedious. Strongly recommended only for people who enjoyed the TV show "The Hillbilly Bears".
