Mario tennis (2000) review
jackstonestone9 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So mario tennis for the N64 is a game that was originally meant to start up a brand new series that reflected mostly on sports related things like soccer or baseball and even tennis for that matter so that's when this game for the brand new 3d technology was created for videogames and then nintendo also started to experiment more with this by making even more games like in the mario series and also other nintendo related franchises like the legend of zelda for example but anyway, HOWEVER, today i wanted to do an honest review of this game and all its glory so here we go. So first of all i wanted to just say that in this game was waluigi's very first appearance in the mario franchise and he is not only a very funny and wacky character moving on in the mario franchise but has also been my all time favorite mario character but it's too bad that nintendo doesn't care about him that much and neither does the smash bros series either but at least there are a lot of people out there in this world that show him the respect and appreciation that he rightfully deserves but also i do appreciate how they gave luigi a rival just like how mario has his own rival and he even has a really cool looking design and speaking of design this game even for the year that originally came out in this game still looks very nice with good textures on the characters showing their classic designs in 3d and even updating original 3d models for characters like wario and luigi who haven't been in 3d that much back then but now have started to develop into that state a whole lot more with brand new spin off games and main series. But also i love the gameplay and how fluent it looks and feels and also how enjoyable it is to be hitting the tennis ball back and forth and not really knowing what the other player is going to do and where he or she will hit the ball next and it also has some reactionary feats to accomplish as well like having to react to when to hit the ball and also how to make a very good and fast shot to trick your opponents but i also love how you can play doubles in this game like other real life tennis matches out there where that is a thing but i also love how this is all running in a 3 dimensional space where things are easier to see and visualize because having a game where the ball is coming towards you at a 3 dimensional angle well you're going to need to see things at a very specific angle in order to not only play the game properly but also how to see things better in general when playing things like a sports game for example. I also love the character roster and how there are actually a good handful of characters to choose from each with their own strengths like speedy characters or strong characters so that you can play comfortably with specific strengths that you're comfortable with which is nice to fit all players. Also i love how there are also exclusive voice lines of specific characters with very talented voice actors as well to voice each one of them. Also I love all the different modes and different ways to play the game like doubles and even tournaments like in normal sports. Also the cutscene at the very beginning established the whole entire formula of like every beginning mario sports game cutscene featuring wario and waluigi being the main villain alongside bowser at the same time and not only is it a very entertaining and funny thing to watch but also this game was the very thing that set up for that formula of many sports games in the near future to do that very concepts of wario, waluigi and bowser being the main villains of the opening cutscenes of the game before gameplay starts. So in conclusion, this game is a wonderful heartwarming classic that i researched for a VERY long time and i had a lot of fun researching various information and gameplay of this thing to the point where i now know everything about it and i just have to say that this was a wonderful experience to be held. So what would i rate this game on a scale of 1 to 10, absolute 10 now i would rate it a 9 because this was hard as heck to boot up an emulator for this game and i spent at least half a day figuring out everything about it and i honestly suck at this game but that's my fault so i give it a 10.

Simple and easy yet exciting

Mario Tennis is a fine game. With colorful graphics and solid gameplay, this is definitely one of the better Nintendo 64 games.

Veteran gamers might find the single player mode a little too easy, but for younger gamers it should be a blast. The best part of the game is the multiplayer. Up to four people can play simultaneously, in modes such as 2 versus 2. Another great feature is the numerous different courses and challenges. One court, for instance, tilts back and forth depending how you walk on it. There is also over 12 Nintendo characters to chose. From the most popular such as Mario, to old favorites such as Donkey Kong Jr., and to everyone's favorite nemesis, Bowser.

So although its not a Zelda or a Metal Gear Solid, Mario Tennis is still a fine game and is definitely worth a look if you enjoy exciting multiplayer action. Overall Score- 8/10

Mario Tennis (2000)
This is a great, fun game with colorful graphics. My cousin and I played this game together every time she came over to my house. Here are things I like about this game:

  • Charles Martinett's performance as the voices of Mario, Luigi, Waluigi, and Wario.

  • Mario shown as a referee if he isn't chosen as a player.

  • The fruits shown in the baby Mario court.

  • Mario saying Mamma Mia!

  • The narrator saying Fault with fire steam exploding in a tennis court. It's so funny.
