Good show but Steve is rather repetitive!
ContinentalOp6 May 2006
'Top of The Pops Two' (or TOTPT) is a music show featuring the music videos and performances of yesteryear (from the 60s all the way to the more recent 90s). The show was axed a while back but has remained very popular and may been coming back to TV shortly - to the cheer and roars of besotted fans - if rumours are to be believed.

The show features achieve footage from 'Top of The Pops' which was (and still is) a music show that focused on the current popular singles of the year. Steve Write created and 'narrates' the show. He occasionally comes up with some out-of-character funny quips in his narration but a lot of the time he just recycles the same lines (for instance his "...but first the ABBA performance that all ABBA impersonators are based on", gets a little old when used for almost all of their appearances) much to the annoyance of the shows fans. Like his radio show, he talks over most of the beginning and end of the songs features which leads you to wonder why he doesn't join an all-talk radio channel.

If you are disillusioned by the music of more recent times, if you want to reminisce about the past if you just like music this is the for you despite its faults.

Great, apart from Steve Wright

This is a great programme. The songs seem to be selected pretty much at random, which means that they may play one of your all time favourites or something you truly detest. This is all part of the fun.

I like the trivia that pops up at the bottom of the screen. What I don't like is the tedious and unfunny comments that Steve Wright comes up with on every show.

If you read this Steve, be aware that we KNOW the fashions look funny without you pointing this out with banal comments, ALWAYS along the lines of 'she looks like she works in Boots' and 'I wonder where he bought that dressing gown' and so on. PLEASE DESIST!

This programme would be improved without any spoken word. Just the artists and the trivia.

Better then the real thing

I can't stand Top of the Pops nowadays. The only decent thing on is U2 and Jarimoquai. I can't stand these modern artists like Geri Halliwell, Ricky Martin or boy bands. I love to see the old stuff though. I always manage to get home in time for this. What I always like to see is stuff like Roxy and Spandau. Now. That's the real thing.

Great Nostalgic Music Programme

I'm not a big fan of the TOP OF THE POPS today as I can't stand STEPS, GERI HALLIWELL, BACKSTREET BOYS or RICKY MARTIN! It's good that a music programme that looks back at the top, and rare performances of TOTP over the last 40 years is aired. It focuses on all the trends and music styles from all the different years of TOTP and is very entertaining. The specials are good too. The specials I have seen include Roxy Music, Bon Jovi etc. THE BEST SPECIAL WAS PAUL McCARTNEY. SOOOOO COOL!
