Sex & Nudity

  • In one episode of the English dub, Gawl accidentally ends up on a stage while a kiddie show (a parody of the Power Rangers) is going on. One of the girls watching the show exclaims "Oh my God, is he not wearing any underwear?!" as the camera focuses on Gawl's lower body. I'm not sure if the same gag is in the subbed version, but this is enough to make some viewers uncomfortable.
  • In a particular episode, the main characters are depicted in a spa setting. While one unnamed character's backside is briefly shown, Gawl and Ryo are seated in the water up to their rib areas, with Koji sitting at the edge with a towel in his lap. Masami and Natsume are also present, with no depiction of their chests. During this scene, Gawl stands up to pull Ryo out of the pool, revealing his lower body without explicit detail. This scene as a whole may make some viewers uncomfortable.
  • Masami mistakes Gawl for a stalker going around Oh-ju in the first episode, and calls him a pervert for a couple later scenes.

Violence & Gore

  • Gawl gets beaten up by Generators all throughout the series, and takes extreme stuff, such as falling several stories from a building under construction, or being thrown into several trees. However, since Gawl is a Generator, he can take many extreme blows and not even break a bone.

Profanity

  • In the English dub, only two curse words are ever used, one said by Ryo, and the other by Koji. However, the subbed version has much more cursing than the dub, but is about what you'd hear in a Fire Emblem game.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Masami gives Koji a bottle of stomach medicine, thinking he would need it (which if you were paying attention to the plot up until now, you'd know he definitely doesn't), but Koji just laughs it off and thanks her for caring.
  • Gawl is seen taking pain medication throughout the series, but it's always after he gets beaten up in a fight.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Gawl saves Natsume from being crushed by rubble, taking the blow himself. Natsume sees the aftermath and shouts out Gawl's name as he lies unconscious and unresponsive. Gawl recovers from this, but this could be frightening for young viewers.
  • In the beginning of the series, Ryo is captured by a Generator. Gawl and Koji fight desperately to rescue him while Ryo groans in pain and begs them to leave without him. They do eventually save Ryo, but not without Gawl having to Generate himself to fight the Generator.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Towards the end of the series, Ryuko Saito rips Gawl's Generator core out of his chest, which acts like his heart. Saito throws Gawl down, and the next shot shows Gawl's unmoving form covered in blood with a gaping hole in his chest. This can disturb many viewers, but is a VERY important part of the story.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Ryo has a nightmare about what happened in the past, and screams to stop it, but he's powerless to do anything. This scene may be frightening to young viewers.
  • In the latter part of the series, Natsume throws herself off a cliff to prevent hurting her friends. She writes an emotional letter to Gawl, Koji, and Ryo that is read out by Natsume as the boys frantically ask around town to find her. Once they finally find out about her fate, they are too late, and because of his grief, Gawl Generates and fights Ryuko Saito in a blind rage.
