I fondly remember watching this programme on the CBBC strand when I was younger and I really enjoyed it back then. Between three and six years ago, I saw repeats of this on CBeebies and these included the episode where Auntie Mabel finds out how letters are delivered and another in which she finds out what happens at the laundrette and/or dry cleaners. Because I haven't seen this programme for three years, I'll move on to discussing the episodes that stood out from my childhood the most.
Right now I can think of three standout episodes from when I was a kid. The first was about Mabel going to a crisp factory and leaving a dog biscuit for Pippin (which she didn't eat due to having eaten most of the party food before leaving), the second involved Mabel going down the sewers and later thinking that Pippin had pooed on the floor but picking up fake poo and the third where Mabel found out about useful holes, told the story of how she got a dog flap installed and got locked in the pantry with the chip pan catching fire (probably the most memorable part of the series). While the programme was educational in nature, it also had some humorous moments, a soothing theme tune, decent in-episode songs and Mabel's colourful spotty plane. Mabel was kind-natured yet firm towards Pippin at times and Pippin was a great companion that got up to mischief every now and again.
Overall this is a great children's live-action series that is of sentimental educational value. 8/10.
